Jack Valentini isn’t my type. Sexy, brooding cowboys are fine in the movies, but in real life, I prefer a suit and tie. Proper manners. A close shave. Jack might be gorgeous, but he’s also scruffy, rugged, and rude. He wants nothing to do with a “rich city girl” like me, and he isn’t afraid to say so. But I’ve got a PR job to do for his family’s farm, so he’s stuck with me and I’m stuck with him. … and I’m stuck with him. His glares. His moods. His tight jeans. His muscles.
His huge, hard muscles.
Pretty soon there’s a whole different kind of tension between us, the kind that has me misbehaving in barns, trees, and pickup trucks. I’ve never done anything so out of character—but it feels too good to stop.
And the more I learn about the grieving ex-Army sergeant, the better I understand him. Losing his wife left him broken and bitter and blaming himself. He doesn’t think he deserves a second chance at happiness.
But he’s wrong.
I don’t need to be his first love. If only he’d let me be his last.

It’s a great story line. And a book I enjoy reading over and over.
It had a really great storyline and steamy chemistry.
Anything I have read by Melanie is worth the time!
Characters are real, storyline is consistent, and likable.
I enjoyed it very much.
great book
Really enjoyed this author. Great story line and characters!
Melanie Harlow’s Frenched is one of my all-time favorite romance novels, and Lucas Fournier is in my Book Boyfriend Hall of Fame. I didn’t think any of her men would ever surpass him, although Sebastian from Some Sort of Happy came pretty darn close. But then she had to go and write Jack freaking Valentini. Heart broken, moody, rude Jack Valentini. Jack Valentini of the tight jeans, farmer’s tan, and muscles upon muscles. And just like that, Lucas was knocked out of the top spot. (Please, please, please no one tell him- let this just be our little secret.)
Jack and Margot will totally steal your hearts. Jack, because how can you resist a broody war vet who doesn’t think he deserves a second chance at love? And Margot, because she’s a city girl who’s learned not to be afraid to step out of her comfort zone and stir things up a bit. On paper they couldn’t be more different- he’s a farmer struggling to make something of his family’s farm, she’s a member of the upper crust who’s had every advantage in life you could imagine. But she’s the yin to his yang and together they are so incredibly perfect. Your heart will swell with emotion as you
go on this breathtaking and heartwrenching journey of love and self-discovery with two people who are undeniably meant to be together.
After We Fall is the best of everything that is Melanie Harlow…it has a compelling and completely engaging storyline; endearing and captivating main characters; caring and encouraging side characters; and a locale that makes me want to pack my bags and move. This book is exactly what I’ve come to expect from her, and I adored every single word of it. Every.Single.Word.
