The Matrix meets The Terminator meets The Tomorrow People. Epic Dystopian-Romance must-read!
Thanks to the Quirky Blind Date with a Book readers’ group, I read and enjoyed this book from new-to-me author, KA Duggsy and I have to say it was AWESOME! The action is full on, and, the plot twists and surprises just don’t stop. People are dropping like flies, but that’s okay, Phasers are the go and they’re only (tasered!)
Society is divided into two economic levels, the extremes of rich and poor, and Faith, as a reporter is summoned among many, to a Press Conference convened by Advance Industries to showcase their new invention that will change the way people travel – teleportation. Like a bus, they say, but getting you from A to B instantly. No risk, no fuss, and soon one in the homes of the privileged. But, first, they need people who want to be the pioneers of their time, for the final testing of the transportation tubes before being widely available to the public. Lauded as human trails for the brave who want a place in history!
Then, she is approached by a homeless man with intelligent eyes, and he’s one of the leading scientists, gone undercover to expose Advance Industries and its’ CEO, as behind the disappearance of the homeless poor, being forced to trail the transportation tubes, that are being used outside of their design purposes.
Beginning the investigation on behalf of the missing homeless, Faith inadvertently ends up back in the hands of a man with stunning Hazel eyes who she doesn’t know, but feels strangely comfortable with. He begs her to remember him, remember them, and Faith begins to realise, that time, and memories can be played around with.
Wow, I have no words to describe how all encompassing this world is, this world that has been created by Kelly A Duggsy. The woman is a genius with words and I am totally entrenched in the world that she created.
The most ironic part of this book, is that I could actually envisage our society and its behaviours, heading in this direction.
I went straight to Amazon and one-clicked the end to Faith and Kye’s story : Advancing. 5 Stars.
What do you do when you discover that everything about your life is a lie. You have been manipulated, used as a guinea pig and lied to by the people you thought you could trust. This is Faith’s reality. I really liked Faith she is feisty and determined but her she is also too trusting in a lot of ways. Kye has come from the future to rescue Faith and he is the perfect man. There are so many twist to this story that you just have to keep reading to find out what happens. I hope the next book will be just as good.
At first this book was a little confusing for me. But loving a good sci fi I decided to push through and I am so glad I did. This time travel book had all the important stuff and a little extra. Loads of mistakes are made that could cost lives. The characters are an emotional pull throughout the story and you find yourself investing in their success and more. Great stuff need to read more because now I am hooked and nothing is what it seems or who they seem. Without knowing who to trust Faith is in deep trouble .
