You can’t destroy what you do not understand—for we are the cure.Sol’s been locked in a system that left her people broken and hungry, while the pockets of others only got fatter. It came as no surprise when the powers that be poisoned their waters, thinking they could snuff their kind out of existence without consequence. Little did they know it would only breed a different type of hunger among … hunger among Sol and her people.
NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: Ad Remedium is a novella originally part of the Black Hearts anthology.

This is a very interesting read that involves a virus apocalypses. The writing made me become invested in the story quickly. The is a fast paced story that follows Sol and Onyx’s story. This has a few surprises.
This is my first book from this author. What a treat. It is well written and fast to read. The characters are well written as well.
The book is fast paced. Sol and Onyx have a rough start but figure how to make it things to work out. The book keeps wanting more. Page turner. I wish it was longer. Sol and Onyx change from friends to enemies and then meet later. This was an addictive read.
The book is fast paced and Sol and Onyx have a rough start but manage to make it things to work out. The book keeps you on your toes but I wished it was longer. Sol and Onyx change from friends to enemies and then meet later. This was an addictive read, full of spontaneity.
This is the type of book that makes me glad in an avid reader. Its everything i love all in one.
This is one super intense, interesting story.
The storyline is great. Sol and Onyx have an interesting relationship. From friends to enemies one might say. Once childhood friends and inseperable, things change as they grow up together. Onyx leaves to become a solidier. Which makes things pretty lonely for Sol. When they meet up after many years its not under the best of circumstances.
Truly an addictive read.
5/5
This was a quick read that i enjoyed. Sol kept getting sick. The finally ruled it as a rare cancer
Onyx was her only friend that was always there for her. Her grandma had visions about the future an tried warning Sol. She just dismissed them as false. Little did she know what would be happening. Onyx left to fight in the war and thought he lost Sol. I enjoyed this book. I hated that it was short and can’t wait for the follow up book to see what happens next.
A novella that is face paced and will keep you reading. Sol and Onyx had a rough start to life but they didn’t see what their future would be like.
This is a unique read that you need to start with no spoilers or clues. The characters will capture your attention and Sol will have you cheering for the ones who have been wronged. Be prepared to be enraptured right until the last page.
My first read of this author. It was a good book
A different kind of apocalypse. Zombies and something else. They Had a connection and Grams made it stronger. Some how they both survived and made it through it all. I’m glad to see the president got what he deserved.
I really enjoyed this book from Nicole Banks. It had a very unique story line that keeps you completely invested in the story from beginning to end. I have never read a book like this and I’m so glad that I read this one. The epilogue was very interesting and I hope there is a follow up book to see what happens and we get more from the two, main characters Sol and Onyx.
Captivating and suspenseful, this complex story was impossible to put down once I started reading. I enjoyed the drama of their relationship. The characters were fascinating in their interactions as well as realistic. Nicely done. I requested a copy of this book and am voluntarily writing a review.
Sol and Onyx are childhood friends and pretty much inseparable. They go from friends to lovers to enemies, but will they make it back to friends or lovers? They don’t live in the best part of town, and the government keeps taking from them. Sol is not in the best of health. Then Onyx decides to join the Army, much to the dismay of Sol. What happens to Sol after Onyx leaves? How does Onyx without Sol? This book is fast paced and full of action and surprises, but I really don’t want to give anything away here, so please read it. I did like how Onyx’s mother seemed to redeem herself (at least with Sol) towards the end of the book. Sol’s grandmother, Sienna – was full of surprises to the end. Very enjoyable quick read.
Great quick read! This book is very different from my usual read but it was very interesting and kept my attention from start to finish. Likable main characters.
Sienna feels like something is coming and knows she has to do whatever it takes to protect her granddaughter, Sol, and her best friend Oynx.
Four years later their world has turned into chaos and only a few can survive and somehow Oynx and Sol have ended up on opposite sides.
Can they figure out a way to reunite and discover a cure for what is plaguing everyone?
This book really wasn’t anything that I was expecting and I felt like I had almost missed something.
The virus was super interesting in itself as the government attempted to solve one problem and it ended up turning on them and creating a whole new problem which was much worse than the original problem.
Sol was tough and she was mad over what happened and vowed to get revenge on the President, George Smith. She gave no mercy at all but she also didn’t seem to be working on a cure herself.
Oynx ended up on the government side of things and it was interesting when he realized that Sol was still alive.
I liked how Oynx’s mom, Sherri, was able to let them know one of the “secrets” from Sienna.
The ending left us with a little uncertainty about the cure but I liked that some happiness was found!
