In this gripping, high-octane sequel to The Line Between, which New York Times bestselling author Alex Kava calls “everything you want in a thriller,” cult escapee Wynter Roth and ex-soldier Chase Miller emerge from their bunker to find a country ravaged by disease. Six months after vanishing into an underground silo with sixty-one others, Wynter and Chase emerge to an altered world. There is no … to an altered world. There is no sign of Noah and the rest of the group that was supposed to greet them when they surfaced–the same people Wynter was counting on to help her locate the antibiotics her gravely ill friend, Julie, needs.
As the clock ticks down on Julie’s life, Wynter and Chase embark on a desperate search for medicine and answers. But what they find is not a nation on the cusp of recovery but one decimated by disease. What happened while they were underground?
With food and water in limited supply and their own survival in question, Chase and Wynter must venture further and further from the silo. They come face-to-face with a radically changed society, where communities scrabble to survive under rogue leaders and cities are war zones. As hope fades by the hour and Wynter learns the terrible truth of the last six months, she is called upon again to help save a nation she no longer recognizes–a place so chaotic she’s no longer sure it can even survive.
With Tosca Lee’s signature “beautifully written and deeply unnerving” (Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author) prose, A Single Light is a breathless thriller of nonstop suspense.

Tosca Lee’s book A Single Light is the perfect sequel to The Line Between. A Single Light is just as fast paced and intriguing as The Line Between. Once you start A Single Light it is impossible to put it down. This is definitely a book I will read it again.
This book was beyond fantastic! It was the perfect sequel to A Line Between, which, if you have not read-get it immediately! Tosca has a way of just drawing you into the story. You feel as if you are part of the twists and turns in every books she writes. A Single Light was no exception to this. In A Line Between, we are left with Wynter and Chase, along with others, sealed into a bunker waiting out a plague that is ravaging the United States. So we are left wondering what has happened since then?? When we open up A Single Light we have our answer in a heart pounding, edge of your seat, nail biting, can’t stop reading thriller! When the story starts we are introduced to life in the bunker as all these people who are safe from the disease wait out their time to get to the top. What is life like for them there? What will it be like for them? Will the disease be eradicated, or will they find something very different from what they are expecting? Read A Single Light. Trust me-it is a book worth reading! Who knows?? You may find yourself checking out all the other fabulous books that Tosca Lee has to offer!
A Single Light thurst the main character Winter into more peril and conflict. Tosca does a great job detailing the challenges of post-apocalyptic America as Winter is tasked with several life-saving, dangerous missions for those she loves. I actually liked A Single Light a little better than The Line Between – more action and I liked the new characters. Thanks, Tosca!
This sequel to The Line Between was thrilling to read and very hard to put down. There were so many twists and turns that I did not see coming. Very well done, making it an exciting adventure. There is action, despair, love, loss, deceit, fear of the unknown, determination, sacrifice, fierce bravery and the strong will to survive. This story feels so real, deep in your gut. This is what it looks like when people are struggling to survive with limited resources. The characters are beautifully written and so easy to connect with. I didn’t want to leave them. I didn’t want to close that last page. Another exciting and wonderfully written story by Tosca Lee!
Thank you to NetGalley, Howard Books and Tosca Lee for my advanced digital copy of A Single Light. I loved it so much that I had to preorder my very own hardcover copy!
A fascinating ride in the continuation of “The Line Between” series. Experience thrill after thrill as Wynter and a cast of characters, some old and some new, face a post-apocalyptic world. This book is eerie in its all too realistic scenarios, and the twists and turns just keep coming. I don’t recommend reading it in public as you’ll startle people with audible gasps as Wynter fights to recover and help her loved ones survive.
The roller coaster ride continues in A Single Light by Tosca Lee, the amazing sequel to The Line Between. The story of Wynter picks up after they are enclosed in an underground silo. Lee weaves a real world story of the challenges and fears that are plagued by the inhabitants that are sealed off from the world that they knew. Worry about those that they left behind and the hope as to what will await them when they emerge from their sanctuary.
Learning to navigate in a world that is starkly different than the one they once knew, kept me on the edge of my seat! This riveting tale of courage and hope had me hooked from the first page to the last.
Thank you NetGalley and Howard Books for providing me an advanced copy for my honest review
OMGoodness!!! Where do I even start?? The Line Between was amazing, and yet A Single Light by Tosca Lee (the sequel) has managed to shoot right past that one. Wynter, Chase, and Truly are in the Ark, awaiting opening day. Everything you can imagine stress wise when you have 60+ people locked in a silo, happens, and more. Wynter is still learning to trust, and wondering if there is even a possibility of a “happy ending”. The emotion and drama that she feels and experiences are so realistic and relatable to. You want to reach out and save her. Can Chase? Can anyone? Only God can, but can she learn to trust Him? I will definitely be purchasing my own copy of this book when it comes out.
Keep up the amazing work Tosca!! If you haven’t read any of her books, you so need to do it.
In this sequel to Lee’s The Line Between, we find Wynter and those she cares about – her niece Truly, surrogate mom Julie and her daughter Lauren, and ex-soldier Chase – securely locked away in an underground silo. Only Wynter and those closest to her know that specialists are working on a vaccine for the dementia-like disease that was ravaging the country. And almost no one knows that Dr. Ashley Neal, a professor at Colorado State (and Truly’s real father) had managed to create two doses of the vaccine – one for Wynter and one for Truly – before being whisked away to a research lab to continue working. Before the handful of strangers entered the silo, the electrical grid had gone down, cell phones had stopped working and violence was becoming the norm in most cities. They are counting down the days until what has become known as “Open Day” – the day that the locked silo door will open and they will reemerge to a world that, hopefully, is finally free of the disease. But when the lock disengages two days early, Chase and Wynter emerge to discover that the country is in total chaos and there is no vaccine. Worse yet, a slip and fall in the silo kitchen left Julie badly hurt and battling an infection. Without the right IV antibiotics, she won’t make it. The problem is most medical facilities have already been ransacked and all the medical supplies have been stolen. Can Chase and Wynter find the meds Julie needs in time? And what happened to Dr. Neal? Why aren’t the vaccines ready? They are racing against time to find the meds Julie needs and the answers they seek.
With chapter headings that indicate either how many days the crew has been in the silo or the time on the clock as Wynter and Chase race to save Julie’s life, this one will captivate the reader almost from the first word. The crew living in the silo is functioning like a well-ordered community. Until the daily video feeds from Noah, the founder of their little community, stop coming. With no communication from the outside, no updates on the state of the country, and no way of knowing if anyone is even still left alive on the surface, it doesn’t take long for panic and fear to infiltrate the silo. Panic and fear lead to wild accusations and violence; life in the silo, already a challenge for them all, becomes a serious struggle. When Wynter finds out that Chase wasn’t exactly who she thought, she sees the future she had dreamt of slipping away forever. Then Julie gets hurt. And her wound gets infected. As frightened as they all are when the door to the silo unlocks two days early, Wynter knows the “early release” may be the only hope she has of saving Julie’s life.
This one had me on the edge of my seat from the start. The chapter headings – the number of days they had been in the silo or the hour on the clock once they are out – add to a sense of urgency in everything that Wynter and Chase are doing. The country is in chaos, the pandemic has spread to South America and parts of Europe and there is no sign of the vaccine that Wynter knows Dr. Neal is capable of making. Can she get the IV antibiotics back to the silo in time? Will she and Chase survive to get back at all? Fans of The Line Between will find much to love in this highly anticipated sequel (even if it does take a minute for your heart rate to return to normal once you’re done!)
I wanted to scream but being in a crowded room my only choice was to implode. This was one of the many moments in the book A Single Light that thrilled this seeker.
The story begins six months after the silo door is closed to protect 60 people from the disease raging in the previous novel The Line Between. They expected the world to be cured, but that was not how it was at all. What happened while they will underground? Wynter Roth and Chase Miller are committed to saving a very diseased and ravaged world as they continue their journey after the door of the silo is opened. Time is of the essence as their friend, Julie, is seriously injured and needs the correct IV antibiotic medication to survive.
Danger is everywhere as Wynter and Chase have to move further away from the silo to find the meds for Julie … and they want answers too. What happened to Noah, the creator of the silo, after his video communications abruptly stopped. Was this dark world even savable? Wynter and Truly, her sister’s daughter, are the only ones who have been vaccinated and are not susceptible to the disease. This secret along with Wynter still be sought for the murder of her sister adds to the conflict.
Fear reigns over communities as ruthless leaders, city wars, division of the well and unwell people, food and other survival resources are at a minimum making the people desperate. As Wynter and Chase race the clock, the continual heart-stopping action keeps the reader flipping the pages wanting to know what happens next.
Oh, my word I loved The Line Between and was super anxious for the second so I could know what happened to everyone. Tosca did not disappoint, this follow up is set in the same high speed, jam-packed action vein. This book had me up wayyyy past my bedtime, answered all my questions and introduced me to a new lovable character (you had me at Help Otto). Kudos Tosca on another excellent manuscript that will be quickly added to my bookshelf (as soon as it comes out that is). I highly recommend you run not walk to get this book it won’t disappoint.
The book is extremely realistic and a fantastic sequel for The Line Between. Tosca Lee is able to make it seem like I could meet each character in real life. You’re experiencing what Wynter is feeling in every part of the story.
I liked this sequel even better than the first book (The Line Between). It’s the kind of thriller where you feel out of breath because you forgot to breathe. The action scenes are so vivid you’re racing through them as fast as you can read to find out what happens next. The characters pop to life full blown and stay with you long after you reach the end. The story makes your heart ache in some places and sing in others. Most of all, it makes you think.
I don’t think I took a single breath while reading this book. It was like being strapped into a monster rollercoaster that only falls, twisting and turning through the Walking Dead, then at the very last moment it deposits you back at the beginning and you come out gasping for air. I’m still trying to come back to reality.
To say that this book delivers is an understatement. The Line Between was such a thrill ride that I wondered if A Single Light could match it. Oh, it matched and then some.
All the good things about Wynter continue to develop, but I like how also her vices surface too. She doesn’t just become a heroine with one goal. She’s creative, adaptive, empathetic and all while battling her own demons. And some of the things that surface…did not see a lot of those coming. I love when a book surprises me, and not just once but multiple times.
But I have to say the greatest (scariest) thing about this book is how real all of this could be. Tosca does such an incredible job of making this apocalyptic world seem just a moment away. Incredible and yet terrifying all at the same time.
This book starts right where The Line Between ends. The things that I wondered about that book where answered in this book and more. If you liked the first book, you’ll love this one.
This is an exciting book that hooked me from the first page. The type you are eager to finish, but don’t want to end. In the last book, we learned about a pandemic that started with an Alaskan pig farmer. This book deals with the consequences of that disaster. This is a thriller with many unexpected twists and turns.
As I stated with The Line Between last year, this is definitely my favorite book that I’ve read this year.
Okay…okay… okay…
This duology is absolute genius gold!
I loooovvveeeeeeee Wynter Roth who is deep down such a strong bad A$$ young woman; who not only had dealt with oppression through her religion, but learns to live on the outside of her cult in a big adventurous way.
She also deals with some mental issues ( who wouldnt ) caused by her time in the cult.
I cannot give you much about what happens in this book because I do not want to ruin the first in the duology.
Here is the deal, If you have ever read a book in one day because it flows so well and you have the ” just one more chapter” and I’ll adult” thought…. but forgo adulting because you must know what happens next? This is your next read.
So happy I preordered this book prior to release date of 9.17.19!!
I recieved this ARC via netgalley for an honest review. Which I wholeheartedly give freely!
I really couldn’t put this book down once I started reading. I love to read anything that deals with the world possibly coming to an end and how the human race reacts either in a good or bad way. This book did not disappoint.
I am thrilled to be part of Tosca’s launch team mostly because I got my hands on this book early!! I loved the first one, but man the second one I could not put down! I was anxious and not sure how things could possibly sort themselves out. There were more twists and turns that I never saw coming, and the new characters stole my heart!
Tosca has followed in Dekker’s footsteps (at least to me) in that she has woven a story together that captivates the reader, and will not let go. I loved this book from the first page until the last and I will say that I loved the way she wrapped up this story without leaving you in angst, but still wanting the next one yesterday!
Love Tosca’s imagination, story telling and her character development most of all. Simply a great series and I will be here for the next one!!
A Single Light
By: Tosca Lee
“A Single Light” is the sequel to Tosca Lee’s novel “The Line Between”. The continuing story of Wynter and Chase in this sequel thriller. Wynter and Chase along with others have settled down in the underground silo, waiting out the period until they can surface and take on the new world.
Many unexpected things occur within the silo during the countdown to leaving. Once out, Wynter and Chase embark on a mission to get medicine for the sick. The outside is not what they expected, and start the next mission to many turns and surprises of danger and hope. They must survive the awful conditions that place their lives in peril each day.
This book is fast, spellbinding, a nonstop thriller that you will not want to put down for a second.
I recommend this book with a 5 stars rating. I look forward to Tosca’s next work. She is a master storyteller.
The sequel to The Line Between, A Single Light, pushes and tugs your emotions from start to finish. Once again, Tosca Lee crafts a thriller to challenge us to think how we would react, really react, if the world as we knew it changed and morphed into something out of our biggest fears. Could we make the right choice? Is that right choice the right choice for me or must we choose the right choice for a bigger, collective “us” before being being able to choose what satisfies our hopes and our desires? Do we look after just ourselves and the ones closest to us or risk it all for the sake of the greater good. Join Wynter and Chase and see what happens when they emerge into the new America!
If you thought that The Line Between was intense and riveting, you’ll be just as enthusiastically engrossed by its sequel!!! This is just as action packed and the surprises and hits just keep happening!! Toca Lee has another hit upon her hands!! Wynter is so much stronger, she’s more determined and maybe even more reckless! Chase is right by her side as they have to once again navigate a dangerous world that is forever changed! As the clock upon humanity ticks away they race to find their future. I loved how this concluded!! I had tears in my eyes and felt so hopeful for this new world. I really don’t want to say goodbye to these characters!! I’m just not ready…
