In this gripping, high-octane sequel to The Line Between, which New York Times bestselling author Alex Kava calls “everything you want in a thriller,” cult escapee Wynter Roth and ex-soldier Chase Miller emerge from their bunker to find a country ravaged by disease. Six months after vanishing into an underground silo with sixty-one others, Wynter and Chase emerge to an altered world. There is no … to an altered world. There is no sign of Noah and the rest of the group that was supposed to greet them when they surfaced–the same people Wynter was counting on to help her locate the antibiotics her gravely ill friend, Julie, needs.
As the clock ticks down on Julie’s life, Wynter and Chase embark on a desperate search for medicine and answers. But what they find is not a nation on the cusp of recovery but one decimated by disease. What happened while they were underground?
With food and water in limited supply and their own survival in question, Chase and Wynter must venture further and further from the silo. They come face-to-face with a radically changed society, where communities scrabble to survive under rogue leaders and cities are war zones. As hope fades by the hour and Wynter learns the terrible truth of the last six months, she is called upon again to help save a nation she no longer recognizes–a place so chaotic she’s no longer sure it can even survive.
With Tosca Lee’s signature “beautifully written and deeply unnerving” (Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author) prose, A Single Light is a breathless thriller of nonstop suspense.

Wow! Tosca Lee has written an amazing sequel to The Line Between in a way that twists and turns throughout the pages. Full of plot twists, adventures, character development, backstory, and love A Single Light is everything I look for in a book. You don’t want to miss out on this incredible story- and make sure to read them in order!
Riveting. Thrilling. Edge-of-your-seat. Action-packed. A Single Light legitimately has everything you could ever hope for in a novel. I had the privilege of being an advanced reader for both The Line Between and A Single Light, and I have yet to be disappointed. I could not put A Single Light down…thank heavens I was stuck in a vehicle on a road trip! It had twists and turns I hadn’t anticipated, features that sometimes made me audibly gasp or shriek (but not always in glee). To be honest, as soon as I finished it, I texted and messaged several friends to tell them to read A Single Light when it’s available in September. That’s saying something because I don’t often recommend books. I am constantly reading novels in my free time; sometimes, I struggle through poorly-written stories with underdeveloped plots and never pick up the books again. A Single Light, though, I know is one I’ll read multiple times and catch new details upon each read-through. I have high standards for novels, and Tosca surpassed them. A hundred fold.
What I loved most about A Single Light–outside of the obvious action and thrill that left me clinging to my Kindle with white knuckles and gnawing on my fingernails–was that it was believable. The dystopian world Tosca created wasn’t farfetched or unrealistic. Instead of questioning the accuracy of the epidemic-suffering society of A Single Light, I found myself being curious about the possibility of its existence. It was easy for me to picture the trials the characters faced and relate to them. Wynter and Chase grew into better people, and they had a real relationship, complete with all its ups and downs. They weren’t superheroes of invincibility; rather, all of the characters in A Single Light had flaws and faults–all things with which we all struggle on a daily basis. Tosca pulled me into her imagination from the first page, and I loved every step of the adventure. Easily one of Tosca’s best works, and definitely one of my favorites.
Read The Line Between. Read A Single Light. I guarantee, you won’t regret it.
If you are not following Tosca Lee, you need to apologize to yourself. Her latest book, A Single Light, is a prime example of why you should be a fan. Tosca’s strengths are crafting complex characters – often a compelling mix between vulnerability and strength
– stirring storytelling and strong research. A Single Light delivers these and seriously unexpected plot twists.
After having escaped a religious apocalyptic cult, Wynter and her rescuer/boyfriend, Chase, have taken refuge with preppers in a silo. A debilitating disease that causes extremely aggressive dementia is ravaging America. Wynter has delivered the samples and research to help develop a cure. Now she and her new friends are shut and sealed in the silo for 6 months. But all may not be well inside or outside the silo.
It is a rare occasion for a writer to surprise me with unexpected plot twists. Tosca surprised me with at least 6 major plot twists. And yet, this story is completely believable. You owe it to yourself to buy this book and every other book Tosca Lee has written.
I received a galley copy of this book for review.
If you thought “The Line Between” was intense, hold on to your britches! Lee cranks up the intensity, and the body count, in this heart-pounding sequel. With no good place to put this fast-passed thriller down, “A Single Light” will keep you reading well into the night. This character driven novel picks up in the underground silo where secrets come out and tensions run high. When the door finally opens, nothing is as expected. The area has been decimated and at first it’s unclear if anyone else has survived. A desperate need for medicine sends Wynter and Chase into a dangerous new world where everything that could possibly go wrong, does. Once again, the key to saving the world is Wynter, if she can stay alive long enough to save it.
