Everyone has a best friend. Mine just happens to be Dr. Christian Gallagher— the gorgeous, green-eyed heart surgeon who wants to have a baby with me.Yes, you read that correctly. When my mother approached me on my thirty-third birthday with a brochure for egg freezing, it was a glaring reminder that my biological clock is ticking toward its expiration date. I’ve always dreamed of being a mom and … dreamed of being a mom and had a plan — one that was destroyed when I caught my professional hockey player husband in bed with another woman.
Despite my broken heart I still believe in love. I want the happily ever after, but I also want a child desperately and won’t settle in order to make it happen.
That’s why when I decided to take my mother’s advice, Christian came up with his own plan: Let’s have a baby together.
It’s a bad idea. A really, really bad idea. And yet…I can’t stop thinking about how great it could be.
There’s just one condition. Before we have sex (oh, yes, we’re doing this the old fashioned way!) Christian is adamant we go on three dates.
Sounds easy, but it’s not.I thought sex would be the hard part, but the dates are only making me fall for the man I’ve known almost my entire life.
Whoever said sex doesn’t change things never went to bed with their best friend.

A REALLY BAD IDEA

Release Date May 14
This friends to lovers book by Jeannine Colette was super sweet and swoon-worthy.
The characters were so great in this book. Christian and Meadow have been friends for over 2 decades. Their chemistry was undeniable as you can feel their connection through Jeannine’s writing. A friendship with such a solid foundation made the transition into a relationship seamless. Meadow was always upfront with her feelings and Christian was always there to encourage her to open up. The maturity of the characters was refreshing.
Even though love was present between Christian and Meadow both never acted on it as stars never aligned for them during their 23 year friendship.
A Really Bad Idea is such a heartwarming, sweet, charming read. It makes you see that wishes do come true. This is the first book of Jeannine Colette’s I’ve read that wasn’t co-written with another author and I wasn’t sure what to expect. As an individual her writing was pleasant and I plan to read more from this great writer.
A Really Bad Idea is a fun rom-com read that takes place in NYC. It encompasses some of my favorite tropes: friends-to-lovers, second chance, hot doctor. Yes, because Dr. Christian Gallagher is a dreamy and swoony heart surgeon.
He has been Meadow’s best friend since they were 15 years old. They managed to stay closed through Christian’s college and medical school on the west coast, Meadow’s failed 8-year marriage to a professional hockey player, and countless boyfriends and girlfriends. They tell each other everything, but they have never dated.
As she turns 30, Meadow starts to wonder if her dream of becoming a mom will ever happen. While she is not ready to date, her meddling’s mom idea of freezing her eggs entices her. The last thing she expects is for Christian to offer her to have a baby together. And she is in, throwing all rules out the window because it’s obvious that they are meant to be.
The descriptions of Central Park, Manhattan’s UWS, and USW are so accurate that it’s impossible not to feel you are in the city. Meadow and Christian are amazing, but the side characters are outstanding and hilarious. Meadow’s mom deserves her own advice book (I mean, she has an opinion about everything). A Really Bad Idea is a great read that will brighten anyone’s mood.
Thank you Jeannine Colette for a really super book!
This book was really enjoyable. It was a good romance novel, with an unconventional solution to a common issue. It helps that Christian is very swoon worthy.
3.75 Short review. A fun enjoyable friends to lovers story from beginning to end. The chemistry between Christian and Meadow was both sweet and sizzling, there back and forth banter had me cracking up and wanting them to hurry up and get together. Even though the book is told in first person, you can feel Christian’s feelings and point of view coming off the pages, there was so many times I could tell he wanted to tell Meadow he wanted more than friendship with her. I also adore Christian’s father and even Meadow’s meddling mom who only wanted the best for their adult kids, the father/son relationship between Christian and his father was so well-written it had me wishing we had Christian’s point of view chapters just to read more of their dynamic. This is a sweet funny and at times moving book.
A interesting read with lots of wit, passion, angst and good character development. I enjoyed it
Heart surgeon and nurse who have been friends for years find themselvrs in love after nurse has desite for a baby.
Wow! I enjoyed reading this book! I loved the connection between Meadow and Christian.
Oh my gosh! Absolutely adored this best-friends-to-lovers romance. So freakin’ good!!
“I’m looking straight. Straight into him. Into his soul, into his heart, and into the very person I’m giving my dreams to.”
Meadow Duvane is almost thirty-three and fed up with her mother trying to marry her off. She’s already got one painful divorce under her belt, but her yearning to be a mother is very real. When the idea to freeze her eggs takes hold, she finds a surprising volunteer in her best friend of over twenty years, Dr Christian Gallagher, to have a baby with her, right now, instead.
“The doors close. Game on. Christian’s at my side of the elevator, his hands in my hair, his tongue licking my lips and his kisses electrifying me.”
I loved this story so hard! Meadow and Christian have a fantastic relationship. Christian is the perfect male friend. He’s gorgeous, gifted, and so freakin’ thoughtful. There were so many things about him that made me giddy and gave me butterflies. He flirted outrageously with her and really couldn’t give a fig about what other people thought. There was such a sexual frisson between them that was amazing and thrilling. The anticipation almost killed me! This was a gorgeous story and I’m planning to read more from this new-to-me author.
Sweet romance
On of the better friends to loves stories. It’s slow burn. I knew how he truly felt the book. It’s in his actions. My husband is the same way. Bummed at how much time passes in the epilogue. But it was nice to see how thing went.
It was so much fun to read and I learn so much about the heart and wonderful advances in heart surgery
A new twist on a friends-to-lovers story. You can’t help but like the hero and cheer when he wins the girl.
Feel good story.
Warning!! Have tissues close by, this book will make you literally laugh out loud in one scene and cry tears of sadness or fear in the next!
Christian and Meadow have had a long and amazing friendship, falling for each other but never having the courage to say anything. They support each other through a failed marriage and several yrs of medical school across the country from each other.
Dr. Christian Gallagher is one of the premiere heart surgeons in the world and he has a life plan that doesn’t include romance, at least not right now.
Meadow Duvane is a nurse practitioner specializing in cardiac care. She works for Christian dad and has for yrs. She spent seven yrs married to who she though was the love of her life, a hockey player until he turned their life upside down by cheating on her.
Christian knows that Meadow dreams of being a mom, so he offers to have a child with her. What better way to do that, then the old fashioned way! His only stipulation, three dates where he gets to romance her. Question is, how will that work when both have feeling they haven’t voiced? Things get complicated when the heart is involved!
This book was so well written, with beautiful back stories and truly irresistible characters. It was sexy, sweet, heartwarming and heartbreaking at times! It will make you ugly cry and it will make you cry tears of joy! Jeannine Colette is a fairly new author to me but I will be actively seeking out her books from now on! Check out A Really Bad Idea today!
i loved it. would love to see more books. fantastic story
Meadow is 33 and realized her biological clock is ticking toward an expiration date. She has always dreamed of being a mom, but she caught her pro hockey player husband in bed with another woman. She believes in love, wants the happily ever after, and wants a child but will not settle in order to make it happen. Her best friend, gorgeous heart surgeon Dr. Christian Gallagher, came up with a plan. He wants to have a baby with Meadow the old-fashioned way, but he wants to have three dates before sex. This is a problem for Meadow because three dates are making her all in love with Christian. = The obvious happens, but it is fun reading about it. Christian is sweet, caring, and protective of Meadow. She is also sweet and caring, and she understands his dedication to work. They have a great friendship; she is great friends with her parents and sister-in-law; he is great friends with his dad. This is a good story about friendship, love, and commitment.
I hate 1POV books but this one get a pass ,really good book. Christian seems like a fantasy.
One of my favorite books ever! Loved it!
