Everyone has a best friend. Mine just happens to be Dr. Christian Gallagher— the gorgeous, green-eyed heart surgeon who wants to have a baby with me.Yes, you read that correctly. When my mother approached me on my thirty-third birthday with a brochure for egg freezing, it was a glaring reminder that my biological clock is ticking toward its expiration date. I’ve always dreamed of being a mom and … dreamed of being a mom and had a plan — one that was destroyed when I caught my professional hockey player husband in bed with another woman.
Despite my broken heart I still believe in love. I want the happily ever after, but I also want a child desperately and won’t settle in order to make it happen.
That’s why when I decided to take my mother’s advice, Christian came up with his own plan: Let’s have a baby together.
It’s a bad idea. A really, really bad idea. And yet…I can’t stop thinking about how great it could be.
There’s just one condition. Before we have sex (oh, yes, we’re doing this the old fashioned way!) Christian is adamant we go on three dates.
Sounds easy, but it’s not.I thought sex would be the hard part, but the dates are only making me fall for the man I’ve known almost my entire life.
Whoever said sex doesn’t change things never went to bed with their best friend.

I did like the book, but it didn’t “grab” my attention as much as other similar stories. There was plenty of conflict in the plot, and the characters were likable.
This is the one of those books you don’t want to put down until it’s finished. Great, Summer read.
Loved it! Hard to put down!
Ok, you are going to have to get passed her 1. falling for the hockey player. 2. Taking so long to figure out he was a cheater. Once passed that the interplay of relationships with friends and family have some fun twists and turns to get to the HEA.
I like the information about heart surgery and care
A fun read.
I absolutely loved this book. As in, re-read parts of it over again because it was just THAT good. Christian and Meadow felt real. I loved watching them find their way to more. When Meadow’s mother ends up in the hospital, I found so many of the family scenes touching and realistic. Meadow’s parents love rivaled that of Christian and Meadow. Overall, a heart-warming, realistic romantic story that I strongly recommend. And, can I just say…I love the cover too! It really brings Christian and Meadow to life. This is my first book by Jeannine Colette but I plan on reading more from her.
Look down, and you reveal your fears. Look up, and you overthink your obstacles. The trick is to look forward. ~ Christian Gallagher
I have found a new book boyfriend. I have found a new go-to author, at least if her other books are as good as this one! A Really Bad Idea is a best friends to lovers story that has the most wonderful characters you’ll ever meet. Christian and Meadow have been best friends their whole lives. They also fell in love with one another in high school, well maybe middle school for one of them. The timing was never on their side, though. Neither was the courage to admit their feelings to one another. So, they’ve kept things in the friend zone for decades. Now, Christian sees a chance to hopefully come out of the friend zone but it’s going to be tricky. Truly, you’ll love this story and you’ll love these characters. All of them. Even the meddling mother!
This is a must read book! My heart took such a beating living vicariously through Meadow but came out so full and happy in the end!! Definitely my favorite book of the summer, maybe even year!!!
I saw the preview for A Really Bad Idea, and even though I have over 1000 books unread on my ipad, I was intrigued and one-clicked in kindle unlimited and there was no turning back. I loved every page. I am so glad I found a new author to follow and am going to now research Jeannine’s entire catalog.
I loved the hero Christian Gallagher, a prominent heart surgeon dedicated to saving lives, and his best friend since middle school, Meadow, a nurse practitioner. He was charming, passionate, strong, so very thoughtful and honest about everything but his feelings for his BFF. Meadow was also smart, successful, kind, and passionate, and I loved her drive and her take on life. She had been burned before but pulled herself back up and set goals for herself.
I loved that they were both in the 30s and their relationship with the parents and siblings. It’s so nice to have parents alive in a book who are a positive influence on their children. I laughed often because I can totally relate to her meddling mother, and I really admired his close relationship with his father, who was also a doctor.
Friends to lovers is my favorite trope and I adored getting all of the snippets into their past, and how they felt more strongly for each other than they would ever admit. I do believe their relationship followed the course that was meant to be, as they both focused on their education, and the other relationships they experienced only reconfirmed that they were not the one.
I loved the scenes at the fountain in Central Park, and how he wanted to date her before being intimate. I loved their desire to have children, and their first kiss and sexy times were super hot. Christian may be one of my favorite leading men and I have read over 3000 books in the past ten years.
This book was written exceptionally well, with character growth, surprises, heartfelt moments, laughter, and tears. All the feels and all the stars from me! Highly recommend.
A Really Bad Idea is good read. Christian and Meadow are best friends. Christian is always there when Meadow needs him. They both work for his father. I loved them. They both flirt with each other but say they are just friends. Meadow mother outs it in her ear that she should freezer her eggs so when she’s ready she can have a baby. Christian being the most amazing friend suggests that they have a baby together. It was great to see Christian and Meadow go on dates. You can so see that they are meant for so much more then being friends and I kept waiting for that aha moment were they realize it. I loved everything about this story.
4 1/2 Stars!
A Really Bad Idea by Jeannine Colette. This is only my second book by this author but I am completely and utterly in love. This book is a best friends to lovers books.
Meadow and Christian have been friends since they were kids. They told each other everything. So when Meadow says she is considering freezing her eggs to have a baby, Christian offers to be the one to help her. The only catch is, he wants to help her by doing it naturally. Surely two friends can’t have sex, conceive a child, and go back to being only friends….. what could possibly go wrong??????
I loved the flow of this book, the other characters only made this book better. I could not put it down. And I can not wait to read more from Ms. Colette!!!!!
This is the first time hearing about this author and let me tell you I fell in love with her story of Christian and Meadow. Its a cute and emotional story. Different feels throughout the book. There is no way your not going to fall in love with Christian because we all need a guy like him for sure lol
I cant wait to read more of her books.
My first book of Jeannine Colette and it won’t be my last. The blurb attracted me to this book: friends-to-lovers, a handsome doctor.. yes!
Meadow and Christian work together in a clinic in Manhattan. She is a nurse, he is an insanely talented heart surgeon. They have known each other most their lives (their parents are good friends) and Meadow had a crush on Christian when she was 13. They became good friends, BFF’s really and even 20 years later they still are. Meadow was married at 25 but her husband cheated and now she faces her 33rd birthday without having her dream of a family. She decides to freeze her eggs or even go it alone as a single mom. Until Christian offers to be her baby daddy!
So far, the story seems rather cliche. But it actually is a beautiful story. About friendship, wrong timing and missed chances. Meadow and Christian both have their dreams but also this connection. I liked how easy they were with each other. The story flows, with their progressing love story. Family also plays a big part in the story. It is mostly in Meadow’s POV, but we do get Christian’s at exactly the right time.
Quote: “Isn’t that the million-dollar question? How do two people with such insane chemistry and an outstanding friendship stay away from each other sexually their entire lives?”

I wanted to read A Really Bad Idea by Jeannine Colette because the blurb reminded me of the film Friends with Kids. To be honest, I don’t remember much about the film, basically only that I liked it. But was enough for me to realise they’re not much alike. Only the premise is the same. Which is a good thing.
The book is original and has great characters. I only didn’t like two of them, Angela and Brian. Nothing that would make me dislike the book.
It’s well written, the pace is excellent and I liked how the secondary characters had their time to shine.
Also, don’t skip the Acknowledgements.

Apenas a premissa é a mesma.

Such a great book! Meadow has known Christian since they were kids. She befriended him on one of his worse days and they became fast friends. Over the years they were “that person” for each other, the one you could talk to about everything. They each had feelings for each other during the years but squashed them down for fear of losing the precious friendship they have.
Now Meadow is a divorced Nurse Practioner working in a practice with Christian and his father, who are both physicians. She is turning 33 and wants to be a mother more than anything. She feels like her time is running out. Christian offers to have a baby with her. Great idea! Right? No!!! Yes? No!!!
The friendship between these two is so fricking cute! I loved them together! They were a couple and didn’t know it! Everyone else seemed to know it! And Meadow with her family gave me goose bumps. She has so much love. Even for Sexy Nurse Natasha who I wanted to claw her fake lips!
The dates were perfect! And the other bachelors involved kept popping in on those dates! I was laughing out loud! So funny! Meadow was adorable! And Christian is my new Book Boyfriend!!!
This is a perfect, standalone, cute, and funny read with an HEA that will have your toes curling and your heart beating at just the right moments! Go ahead and snatch this one up, you’re gonna love it!!!
I LOVE this book with every fiber of my being!
This book was fun, witty, sexy. It made me laugh, smile and cry a little bit. The insane chemistry between Christian and Meadow was absolute fire! The fact that they started out as best friends and were best friends for 2 decades, only to fall in love with each other is so beautiful.
Christian, my goodness! What is not to love about this beautiful, funny, intelligent, kind man. Not only is he a doctor that genuinely loves his job of healing patients, but they way he treats Meadow with the utmost respect, compassion and love is truly awe inspiring.
And Meadow…I love this strong, independent, smart, beautiful woman. She is so real, so raw, so uniquely herself.
I love this story because despite it being just that, a story, it’s also so real. Yes life may not always work out the way you’d like it to, and sometimes your dreams may not become a reality in general or until later in life, but there is always something out there just waiting for you.
This book put the largest smile on my face I was afraid I’d crack in half 🙂
I can’t fully explain just how much I loved this book. Jeannine Colette created an incredible story that I have no doubt I will return to frequently and tell everyone about because I loved it that much. This woman has written a story that I fell hard and fast for and I have no doubt in my mind that it will stick with me.
Jeannine Colette has a fan for life right here <3
4.5 Stars – Come and meet hottie Dr. Christian Gallagher
It took me a while to get into the story at first for whatever reasons but I loved the characters and their dynamic. After I was captured by the story, it was impossible to put the book down until I finished reading the entire thing because this story became better and better with each page. I adored the flirty way of the characters and I liked the unhurried pace of everything. I loved Meadow and Christian’s friendship and their families and also how past and current affairs were involved without them overshadowing any growing feelings or important developments.
I laughed and cried, I swooned and cursed. This book gave it to me good and made me reminisce about a hard time in my family’s life when we were sitting in a hospital room as well. It just hit so close to home and had me reflect on some things. Time passes by so fast and lets us sometimes lose track of what’s most important in life.
Anyway, this was such a sweet story but not always the lighthearted one I thought it would be which made it even better to be honest because it felt real and honest how Meadow didn’t have an easy path to her happily ever after. It made the beautiful ending and epilogue even more perfect.
A story about friendship and finding love, the worries of life, about the mistakes of the past, the missteps in the present, and what the future might bring. I was swept off my feet by the handsome and charismatic Dr. Gallagher as well as by the lovely Meadow and her love for kids.
This story captivated me, it took over my life and it gave me all the feels I want and expect in a 5 Star read. This is the perfect friends to lovers romance it’s about a couple you who not only care very deeply for each other but they protect and cover each other’s backs when ever it’s needed and let’s be honest that’s exactly the type of relationship we all dream off.
Meadow and Christian have been friends for many years and when he finds out she is thinking about freezing her eggs and maybe looking at a sperm bank to realise her dream of becoming a mother the hot Dr steps up and offers to help make a baby the natural way……..
This book is so much more than just a friends to lovers, it’s about second chances it’s about true love and it’s full of passion and witty banter.
This author does an amazing job of painting pictures with words because throughout this book I really felt I was in Manhattan and the Wishing Well in Central Park taking in all of Meadow and Christian’s journey to true happiness. A funny romantic read that will captivate you
I was blown away reading this story, I couldn’t put this down. I started reading this so late at night that I didn’t finish it until early in the am, it was that darn good. I loved it that much. I still want more and want it now please! Thank you.
