A fun light Christmas story
I usually like Rose Pearson stories but this one seemed to reach a bit far.
The heroine, Anna, is a struggling lower class woman who has been basically dragged around by her father for a number of years. He dies and she is alone and penniless. She goes to look for an estranged Aunt and gets hit by a phaeton. Her leg is BADLY broken and she is lying in a ditch. Pretty grim beginning.
She somehow manages to crawl and drag her way out of the ditch. This is the first thing I found to be a tad unbelievable. She is found and rescued.
Then her VERY BADLY broken leg miraculously heals and she can dance and walk within a couple of weeks! Ummm….. No.
It sort of stalled for me after that. I really never felt like the hero and heroine connected on a strong level.
The time line of the story was a bit jagged and the pacing was a bit off.
Maybe the author was trying for something a bit different. However, I don’t think this is one of her strong works.
However, I like this author and will not allow this one novel to stop me from reading her books.

This was such a sweet, clean book. I loved the storyline and the HEA ending. Edward and Anna’s story is wonderful. The ending seemed a little rushed but I would still read this book again. I have yet to read a book by Rose Pearson that I have not loved and I look forward to reading many more!!

Afterward she becomes the lady’s companion, which causes severe hatred in the lady’s evil nephew who seeks to destroy her. Interesting characters, good and bad, and a sweet romance.

Clean read
Rose Pearson is one author I know I won’t be disappointed in when the book is over. It was terrible how sad Anna’s life had been and the horrible event that changed everything. I knew from the beginning that Edward would be a true hero. The one thing that stood out to me was Lady Tremaine’s reaction to finding Anna and Lord Comey in the library. Lady Tremaine and her staff took Lord Comey’s word without even asking Anna her side. Also just because she had became Lady Tremaine’s companion did that mean she wasn’t allowed to defend herself against unwanted advances from vermin like Comey? Considering Lady Tremaine’s eccentric character one would think she would have applauded it. There also comes a time when a character is too good and too quick to forgive.

The story of Anna Campbell and Edward, Lord Westerham is a convoluted and interesting tale full of intrigue and opportunity. Shortly after burying her father, Anna is seriously injured by passing phaeton. She is discovered the following morning near death with a broken leg and is taken in by Lady Tremaine, Edward’s aunt. Becoming her companion, Anna cares deeply for lady who has saved her. When Lord Comey, conspires to remove Anna from his aunt’s employ so he can achieve his inheritance. Luckily Lord Westerham saves the day. Thoroughly enjoyable! I loved it!

At the beginning of the story Anna uses the last of her coins to bury her father, a man who treated her shabbily most of her life. As she makes her way to Winchester, she is gravely wounded and left in a ditch in distress. Rescued by a wealthy family she becomes the beloved companion to Lady Tremaine, who overlooks her upbringing to teach her how to be a lady. However, not everyone is delighted by her sweet and kind nature, she gains an enemy who does his best to destroy her reputation. An beautiful tale of love overcoming hurts and forgiveness in the face of betrayal. A lovely story
Anna has just buried her father and has no where else to go. He has left her penniless and knowing she needs to find work, starts walking to the nearest town. While on her way to Winchester she is injured by a phaeton and crawls to the side of the road, knowing full well her leg is broken. On their way to church, Lord Edward Westerham, along with his family see Anna and rescue her. Taking her to his great aunt’s home, Lady Tremaine cares for Anna. Finding Anna to be wonderful, Lady Tremaine hires her as her lady’s maid. Lady Tremaine’s nephew Lord William Comey is in line for her title and will do almost anything to find a way to make that happen sooner than later. He is in debt and needs the title and funds badly. Not able to make a wealthy match he decides to take things into his own hands. Edward has taken a liking to Anna and wishes he could marry her, but his family will never allow it, knowing she is not from Society as they see it. This book has alot of suspense, romance of course, betrayal and hidden secrets. Rose’s way of writing really allows you to feel her characters emotions and her story lines are always intriguing. I would highly recommend this book.

A magical and heartwarming Christmas Regency
Romance.
I volunteered to read A Family for Christmas.
Thanks to the author via Booksprout for the
opportunity. My opinion is voluntary and my own.
This story has some surprises for the reader.
Ms. Pearson always delivers a great story and this one is no exception. I loved Lady Frances what a remarkable woman, Edward our want to be rake, and Anna our heroine were all great characters. There is a truly evil and wonderfully written villain all in all the making of a great story. I did have a problem with the idea that she broke her leg because even with a greenstick fracture it would take longer than the time given in the story to heal. I am not going to knock the book for that it was too good otherwise. I would recommend this book and I enjoyed reading it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is such a good book. Rags to riches . . . . orphan to friend of Duchesses, Princes, Ladies . . . presented to the Queen. Threatened. BUT above all true to herself!!!

Anna finally felt she had the opportunity to create a new life for herself. With her father buried, she set out to try to get a job. He had left her with nothing but debtors wanting their money and little else.
Unfortunately, on the road, she had to rush to get out of the way of a speeding carriage and fell and broke her leg.
Lady Frances Tremaine, her godson, Edward and his parents where headed to church when they saw her on the road. Taking her home, she was unconscious and finally woke after a couple of weeks. To say she was surprised was the least thought she had!
Thus the journey begins as Anna and Lady Frances become close and she is asked to be her lady’s maid. But a terrible great nephew came to visit, who really only wanted money and felt Anna was a threat.
A story of family and trying to survive when life has been difficult. A sweet story filled with a little suspense and emotion that I thoroughly enjoyed.
