I just finished reading A Family for Christmas: A Regency Romance by Rose Pearson . I have enjoyed all Ms. Pearson’s books and this is no exception. I love that these are clean regencies that are fast to read and very entertaining. Love the stories, please keep ’em coming! A Family For Christmas is a very heartwarming tale, rags to riches, set at Christmas time. What could be nicer?
When Anna’s father dies she is finally free to live her own life. Her father was a drunk, thief and a gambler. While leaving town on foot she is struck down by a horse and carriage! When Lady Tremaine and her dearest friends and godson head to church they notice her laying still as death on the side of the road and take her him. Lady Tremaine is an unconditional elderly widow who is a bit eccentric! When Anna finally wakes up she feels like it’s a dream! When Lady Tremaine tells her she would like to teach her how to become a member of society and become her companion she can hardly believe it. When she meets Lord Westerham and discovers he’s the one who saw her and insisted they stop she can hardly believe it! The attraction is instantaneous!
This was a wonderful Christmas read about love and loss, greed and malice and kindness and family! I loved Lady Tremaine and Anna’s relationship! I loved that Ana finally got what she always wanted, a family for Christmas! I highly recommend this book and this author! If you love regency romance Rose Pearson is the author to read!
A compelling romance starts when a woman is found in a ditch by a Lord and his family. It is a poignant story of a second chance at life. Very sweet and easy to read. A nice Christmas tide tale.
Nice story
Just a nice story to read.
I would have preferred to give the book a 3+ star rating. The characters were interesting and well developed. The premise of the plot that a titled woman would hire an unknown young lady without references as a companion stretches the imagination. Then the minute there is any suspicion she is discarded without a thought. Not a very coherent plot.
A pleasant read!
It was a really good romance until near the end when it became completely unbelievable.
I loved the characters. Very good story
Anna is a person who doesn’t give up just because her circumstances are horrible. This is an inspiring book about a woman down on her luck but tends to look at the good in life. Usually the wealthy characters frown upon the lower class people, but when Anna is in need, she is taken in and cared and respected. Falling in love is an added bonus.
I enjoyed this Christmas story about finding one’s self and family.
It has a Cinderella storyline that has suspense around a unsavory character.
It is a light story that leaves a happy ending feeling right.
Anna Campbell buries her father and then sets out to walk to Winchester to look for work. As she nears the city, she is knocked into the ditch with her leg broken. She is rescued the next morning by Lady Tremaine and her godson Edward. Lady Tremaine, a widow, is unique in that she does and says what she wants rather than being restricted by the ton’s norms. So when Anna’s leg is healed, Lady Tremaine keeps Anna on as a companion and teaches Anna how to be a lady. Viscount Comey, Lady Tremaine’s great nephew, is the villain in the story. Deeply in debt and desperate for either a marriage to a wealthy heiress or for Lady Tremaine’s death so he can inherit, Comey plots to discredit Anna. The romance occurs between Edward and Anna, beginning when he is asked to teach Anna to dance. As usual this romance goes back and forth between happy occasions and catastrophe, but everything comes right in the end.
Anna as no home or family and sets out for the city onlt to meet an accident. She is rescued by Lady Tremayne and her handsome nehew and nursed to health. She is accepted as a companion to the lady and spends her time learning how to be a lady of society.
The res of book is formula romance in that te nephew loves her, the aunt promotes the relationship and the evil cousin causes her to be sent away. The ladies in this book are great and well developed , the men seem just space fillers
What a great reminder that we should all strive to be good Samaritans, not only at Christmas time, but all year long. Perfect Christmas story!
Wonderful story. Well worth your time to read this.
Boring. I didn’t finish it.
A beautiful seasonal story
This is a beautifully written seasonal story , with a brilliant plot. The characters are portrayed with the strength and determination to overcome their social obstacles and foes, to achieve their happy goals. This is a great book for anybody who loves clean historical romances, that have a bit of suspense
Enjoyed the era and the many fascinating characters. So nice to be transferred to another time and realize they experienced family issues as we do in current times.
Not your standard Regency romance. This book is more like the original Jane Austen stories in that it isn’t overly sentimental or saccharine as so many romance novels can be. On top of that, the characters are more realistic than most and the plot, while unlikely, doesn’t stretch credulity too far. The writing and editing also are first rate.
Such a good read! Well developed characters and a plot that pulls you into the story immediately.
