The final book in The City Series is here!Sunset Park is gone. People are missing.Sylvie, Eric, and the other survivors have crossed the water to the security of a new Safe Zone, where they hope to heal their battered hearts, amass an armory, and get back at the ones who took it all away. But with zombies on the move and few resources to speak of, it’s harder than expected to plot their revenge. … plot their revenge. For some, it’s harder still to garner their resolve, since vengeance means more of them will die.
But safety is ephemeral in a city where food is short and tensions are high. It seems fate may leave them no choice but to fight—and perhaps die—to restore their city to a place they can call home.

This is the third book in a post apocalyptic zombie series. In order to glean the most from the story, I suggest you read the first two books before this one. The characters are amazingly well crafted, full of personality, complete with strengths and foibles, making them more complex and interesting. The narrative is told from the two main characters’ point of view, allowing insight into their thoughts, motivations and actions. The action scenes are well described allowing you to visualize the setting and feel the desperation. I enjoyed this book as it explores the mystery of humanity, the good, the bad, and everything in between. I also enjoyed the fast paced storyline that was full of action, danger, sacrifice, heroism and romance. I am only sorry the series is over as I will miss these dynamic.
Who knew so much could be happening in New York! Love Eric and Sylvia so hard. I have a story similar to Sylvias and reading her story is like looking at myself in the mirror. I’m super heart broken over some. I will always ask myself Why? Did she pick those characters? It had so much angst. I feel emotionally drained after reading this book. I highly recommend both series.and Will look for more. I’m Sedona joining her FB group. I’m a fan now.
OMG, I did not want this story to end, I already miss the Sunset Park gang. No spoilers here but there was some immense satisfaction to balance out the tragic heartbreaks. I am going to read again and also listen to the audio book next.
A satisfying conclusion… also, listen to the audiobooks! Amazing!
A great ending to an amazing series
I wasn’t sure I would like this book, but found myself engrossed from the beginning. Sarah, knows how to hook the reader and keep them.
One of the best books I’ve ever read.
This woman writes apocalyptic books that I predict will one day be award-winning! I have read dozens of apocalyptic books and none compare to Fleming’s wit, humor, intelligence, and compassion! I couldn’t put it down and am sorry it’s over! I’ve read all her books twice and that Is unheard of for me! You don’t want to miss her books! Sarah Lyons Fleming’s first book was “Until The End Of The World “. Read them all! She’s a local artist and you won’t regret your time!!! I’m editing this because her books are so good that I’m reading them a THIRD time! She has an (oughta be) award winning blend of flirtatious wit, humanly self-deprecating thoughts, and tension building to keep you begging for more!
Sarah Lyons Fleming saved the best story for last in the final book of her The City Series, set in the same universe as her Until the End of the World books. Ousted by the traitorous Walt from the safe zone they had fought so hard to build with their friends and neighbors Sylvie, Eric, Indy, Paul, and Jorge along with other survivors start putting their shattered lives back together in the nearby Stuytown Safe Zone while trying to learn the fates of their missing friends and loved ones. Slowly life becomes good again, though our group is a lot more wary and ready for trouble with Walt and others like him, that won’t be satisfied til they have all the survivors under their thumb.
This book made me cry several times, but what a great ride! For the full emotional effect of the epilogue of this book, I suggest reading the Until the End of the World series first before The City series, you will NOT be disappointed!
Worth the wait! I laughed, I cried, I yelled at characters through my kindle lol. As expected there are some bleak moments but a very satisfying close to the series and overall a much different experience than the original trilogy while still having the utterly relatable and lovable characters and vivid, believable settings that the author does so well! If you’ve never read any go back and start with Until the End of the World, read them all, you won’t be disappointed!
