The world Jia and Cees knew no longer exists. Amidst chaos and terror, they find each other and fall in love—a love that goes against all castes’s rules. As their civilization is ravaged by genetically-altered beasts, the caste system relied upon for ages crumbles. The privileged and wealthy are just as vulnerable to the onslaught as are the disadvantaged. Faced with impossible odds and … and unsettling secrets about their society, Jia and Cees must decide which part of their dying world to take with them and what they should leave behind. As they travel in search of a safe haven, they face unspeakable horrors, which shake deep-rooted beliefs and their old way of life.
Will they look past prejudice and centuries-old traditions to join forces against annihilation? Or will they give in to society’s pressure and fight alone?

Heart’s Prey
Written by Natalina Reis
4 star read
Science fiction, dystopian fantasy type romances are not something I have read frequently but I have read a book or two written by Natalina Reis and have really enjoyed her writing. Based on enjoying Natalina Reis’ writing style and the book’s synopsis, I really wanted to give this read a go. I’m happy I took the chance.
The characters in Heart’s Prey are strong and resilient which makes this story captivating from
beginning to end. Despite being a genre I’m
not really familiar with, or often reading, I really enjoyed the story and look forward to exploring more of Natalina Reis’ work.
I love getting lost in a Dystopian / Fantasy book, and am glad that I was able to find just that and more out of Heart’s Prey by Natalina Reis.
I love being able to get lost in a world full of characters and descriptions – that make it so real – that you feel them and their struggles and troubles, as well as their successes. And I’m glad to say that this author didn’t disappoint me at all.
I was more than pleased to meet Jia and Cees, and although their journey is one that is painful and stressful, they do an amazing job to overcome their obstacles.
This is definitely a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat while reading, and not allow you to let go. It’s because of this that I would consider this book to be a 5 Star Book!!
Heart’s Prey-Natalina Reis
5-star review
Heart’s Prey by Natalina Reis is a must read dystopian story! This is not my first book by this author but it’s definitely my favorite! This story is so unique, and I loved everything about it! Heart’s Prey follows Cees and Jia, two characters who are just doing their best to survive as the world as they know it has ended. Their story is intense, interesting, riveting and so entertaining. The action-packed storyline had me devouring this book in one sitting as I just couldn’t put it down.
I’ll be honest in the beginning I found it a bit confusing as I was introduced to some new lingo but within a few chapters I had answers to all of my questions and I found myself completely captivated. I loved how these characters developed over the course of this story, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I would absolutely recommend this book to others, Natalina has created an incredible story that should not be missed!
This book was a good book. It was a lot different than what I expected. I found myself not being able to stay followed along and found myself skipping through the book. It was really great description and a great plot. The author you could tell took her time in writing this book. I have read books by this author and I really enjoy her writing. It was great book just wasn’t my cup of tea. I gave it a four out of five because it was a really good book just wasn’t something I particularly read. Great writing.
Natalina Reis wrote a great story with Hearts Prey. I enjoyed this book even though it’s not my normal genre, the story itself was great, the plot had a nice push and pull to it where you were constantly wondering what’s going to happen. The two main characters that the story focuses on are Jia and Cees. They are pretty well written, each from different classes and separated by what society thought. But everything isn’t always as it seems. Sometimes you have to question what you are being told. When they think they are the only two left they decide to put the past behind them as much as they can and trust each other. They will need each other to survive.
The other characters in the story were entertaining and interesting when they are mentioned. This is a story about how you have to move forward, start new, and not make assumptions about people based off of societies standards
