He’s sexy as sin and hotter than hell and—oh wait. What would you do to save a loved one’s life? Make a pact with the Devil? In Diana Kingston’s defense, it was the middle of the night in the deserted hospital chapel… surely it was just a dream. She hadn’t really sold herself to a brooding stranger to save her father’s life, right? Then she wakes and her father is fully recovered and a mysterious … life, right? Then she wakes and her father is fully recovered and a mysterious letter arrives from the tall, dark, handsome—um, Devil? Yep, it was right there on the contract, Lucien Star, aka Lucifer Morningstar, that had been his name in the dream… Gulp. What would the Devil himself want with her? Sex. Three months of hot, sweaty, Friday night sex.
Ooookay. Breaking a pact with the Devil doesn’t seem like a smart move. So she’ll do it—but she won’t like it. Not much anyway. But she starts liking it – a lot—and every night they spend together, she likes it and Lucien a little more. Being with him allows her naughty side to come out and play, but Diana starts to see more than just a sexy-as-sin, rock-hard … er…Anyway, he might be Satan, but even he was an angel once. Kind. Noble. And she sees glimpses of that man still inside him… But how in Heaven’s name do you save the Devil from himself?

Have you ever sold you soul to the devil himself to save someone you love that’s what our main character Diana did for her dying father, his only catch was give herself to him every Friday at midnight for 3 months and if it was broke her father would die right than. But will this randaviu turn into something more with the devil more less?
I was pleasantly surprised by this author and her debut novel. This was a different twist on the selling of souls and bargains with the devil. Diana is willing to do ANYTHING to save her father’s life and to save her mother the pain of losing her soulmate, and Lucien (or Lucifer) needs the purest of pure souls to reinforce the gates of Hell. His second in command finds Diana, Lucien goes to meet her, and the deal is struck: he gets Diana from midnight to dawn every Friday night for three months. The only problem? He falls in love with Diana, and Diana falls in love with the angel still lurking within Lucien’s broken, damned, all-but-graceless soul. Since the devil surely isn’t capable of giving or receiving love, what do the powers that be do when these two defy all odds and fall in love anyway? Give them a chance at a real HEA, of course!
While I’m not a huge paranormal fan, I’ll be interested to see what comes next from the mind of this author!
This is a really good one! Diana finds a deal with the devil is scary but can also be fun. Lucian, aka The Devil, never knows what hit him when he starts spending time with Diana. I loved the way she found beauty in everything and gave Lucian glimpses of what he once had. Loved the ending!
Midnight with the Devil by Emma Castle is an enjoyable concept. The approach here is a deal with the Devil. Diana’s father is in the hospital, dying of cancer. Lucian Star, as the Devil calls himself in this instance, overhears Diana’s plea for her father’s life. Realizing Diana could be useful to him, Lucian agrees to save him. His general goal is the corruption of her soul, to safeguard the gates of hell with the act.
Diana’s part of the contract requires Friday nights, for three months, be spent in Lucian’s company from dusk till dawn. Lucian is, of course, the ultimate bad boy. And bad boys are an attraction. Diana spends a good deal of time fretting over the attraction/lust she feels for Lucian. Finally giving into her primal urges, Diana discovers there are many things she got wrong about the Devil, and how he fits into her sense of morality.
Overall I enjoyed this story. The mythos created here was entertaining. In a dominance story, the women are occasionally too submissive, but in Midnight with the Devil, I never felt that way about Diana. She kept a level head and realized when she had things wrong. Lucian is what you would expect from the Devil if the Devil wasn’t evil incarnate.
However, something felt off to me. Maybe it was the flow between actions. Segues did not always seem smooth to me. There were times I felt there should have been more to the scenes, or maybe some further background to things. In the end, the mythology kept me intrigued, and the chemistry between Diana and Lucian was engaging. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest opinion. I encourage all readers to reach their own conclusions.
I received a free eBook of Midnight with the Devil from Ms. Castle via Netgalley, and this is my honest review. This is the first book of Ms. Castle’s that I have read. While visiting her father at the hospital, Diane meets Lucien (Lucifer) in the hospital’s chapel where she blindly wishes for a miracle that could save her father from his imminent death. Lucien answers Diana’s wish while offering her a deal. She must spend every Friday from midnight to dawn with him for his pleasure for three months, and when she dies, her soul will belong to Lucien, and in return her father will be completely healed. Diana and Lucien seal the deal with a kiss. As Diana spends time with Lucien, she learns that there is more to him than just corruption and hell. Lucien learns that not all mortals are evil or corrupt. Diana soon finds that she enjoys spending time with Lucien, both in and out of the bedroom. Lucien learns that Diana is slowly infiltrating his mind and feelings. As they get to know each other better, will Diana be able to openly and truthfully love Lucien and he in return or will Lucien leave Diana and break her heart?
I absolutely fell in love with this story. Ms. Castle portrays Lucifer as not only the King of Hell, but there’s also glimpses of his former angelic self. Diana is a young lady who knows the value of love and being selfless, but she also learns to be honest and true with herself. The plot kept me captivated, and I did not want this to end. I was initially intrigued with a tale of a deal with the devil, but Ms. Castle captured many different aspects of life and loss. love and hatred, and heaven and hell that had me guessing where she will take me next. I highly recommend this to those 18+ due to sexual content and some mild violence. Thank you Ms.Castle and Netgalley for introducing me to this new wonderful book. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Diana is in the hospital chapel on the last night of her father’s life when the devil offers her a deal. Sell your soul and I will save your father. It’s an intriguing storyline. It’s got that forbidden fruit aspect that I have to admit is what drew me in.
I’ve never read this author before so I took a gamble to see if this could be something for me. I enjoy a dark read, but not too dark. Having Satan as the Hero, the author could take this to the darkest level she wanted to.
I’ve found that I like Emma Castle’s writing and the way she can tell a story. However, I was surprised to find that this book wasn’t dark at all. It’s actually a very safe read. I did enjoy the way the book turned out and I wasn’t expecting that ending.
It’s actually a very sweet love story. I think that sweetness took the forbidden aspect that drew me in the first place, out of the equation. I wanted this to be just a tad bit darker and for Lucian to have more of a dark intensity to him and how he was with Diana.
I think expectation can change how you view a book so if you’re expecting dark, this is not it. I would like to come back to this book another time and re-read it. I think going in knowing how sweet it is, I’ll enjoy it more the second time around.
A solid idea with a lackluster execution. The story is surprisingly light considering the subject matter – not so light as to be considered a RomCom, but pretty light nonetheless. That, I could’ve been okay with, but from start to finish, I couldn’t escape the similarities to the television show. The storyline and characters are more simplistic than the show, but the sexy playboy persona, the deal maker, a good-hearted human who may be Lucian’s downfall or saviour, depending on how you look at it, the nightclub – it’s all there. All of that aside, I didn’t find these characters particularly likable, and the story just didn’t pull me in. It’s a fairly quick read, so I did finish it, but it isn’t something that I would reach for again or that I would think of to recommend.
I loved this book, the characters were great! I love it when the devil is naughty but nice! This ending was very unique! I will look for other books by this author !
A different type of story that will hold you captive, not knowing what to expect. Diane Kingston was desperate to save her father’s life. Somehow her wish came true after she made a pact with the Devil, or rather Lucien, aka Lucifer Morningstar. When she finds her father has been healed, she is then accountable for her bargain and determined to carry it out.
But hold on to your seat, this story will take you through the gamut of emotions from sadness, to desire and crying.
A wonderful debut novel for this author and hopefully we will see a lot more soon!!
First time reading this author, I will read more. This was a love story that stands the test of time. The book was well written. The characters were lovable including the devil himself.
Diana Kingston’s father is dying of cancer & not expected to live for even a few days, she takes some time in the hospital chapel & meets a tall, dark gorgeous stranger who offers her a solution. Every Friday night for three months with the stranger in exchange for her father’s recovery. Then she wakes and her father is fully recovered and a mysterious letter arrives from the tall, dark, handsome Devil.
I’m not a lover of supernatural books but I do love a romance & this is a lovely romance. I was drawn in from the first page & gripped until the end. I laughed, I sighed & I cried. Pineapple, BBQs & shopping had me laughing, Lucien was so hot he had me sighing but I was in tears at the ending & the epilogue had the tears really flowing. This is a debut novel from the author, which ticked all the boxes, can’t wait to read more.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I read this book almost a week ago and it is still with me, still inside my head. It is AMAZING! Unique, steamy and full of passion and soul. This is the first book I have read from this author but it will not be my last!
When you start thus book, you might believe you gave an idea of what you will be reading, but I caution you to let go of those ideas. There is no way you can know or be prepared for this story.
The story is hot, steamy and full of passion, but at its heart; thus story is about the complete love and sacrifice one is willing to make for a loved one (and all loved ones).
I really enjoyed Diana and her beliefs, development, growth and passion. She was an amazing character. The perfect match for Lucifer himself. I also really loved Lucifer, he was the perfect anti-hero. One who is selfish yet knows what is right and what is best. I loved his relationship with Diana.
Though this is a romance story it does remind the reader of important life lessons; without knocking us over the head with them. I loved the mythology that was woven into the story and the questions and struggles the characters faced (and overcame).
I cant remember that last time I read such a unique and well executed story that help my attention and allowed me to slip into another world. I highly recommend this book. I had the extreme pleasure of reading this ARC and in leaving my honest review.
This book was more than I thought it would be. It had more depth than expected. I really enjoyed this book.
Wowza!!!! I have to admit, this was sooooooo much more than I thought it was going to be. But let me first start by saying that although this book references religious content, it’s not done over the top, making it ALL about religion. I’m not even religious and enjoyed the references.
Diana’s dad has cancer and is dying. Like, in a coma and not gonna make it through the night, dying. While praying, she’s approached by none other than the man of death himself, Lucifer. So why does he approach her? After all, she’s not the one dying. Well, seems the devil has other plans for her. Plans that Diana may have a few things to say about.
Lucifer has fallen from the heavens. He’s been stripped of his grace and tasked to look over hell. Although his job is to guard the gates of hell, he needs pure souls to keep those damned. As he searches for that pure soul, he finds Diana and can’t resist her. But she’s more than he bargained for and becomes so much more.
THIS!!! This was so good. I absolutely loved the lessons learned in this. Like a reminder that “God” always forgives and loves. That there’s redemption for those who believe there isn’t. And holy hell….the “romantic” scenes between Lucien and Diana are HAWT!!!!
