Oz: Escaping the international modeling scene to design my own fashion collection is the first step to shucking my bobble-headed supermodel reputation and proving to the world I’m more than just a pretty face. But the minute I have to accept roadside help from the sexy man next door, I feel like the airhead people think I am. And what’s worse, the man clearly doesn’t think I’m worth the time of … time of day.
But despite trying to ignore my attraction to the mysterious doctor, I can’t help but be drawn to him. With every moment spent together, I begin to realize he’s hiding more than just some details of his past. He has one foot out the door.
As soon as I start to feel like everything might be coming together for me, I realize the man I’m falling in love with isn’t who I thought he was.
Jake: After three years on the run for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, I’ve finally found a seemingly safe place to settle in Haven, Colorado. With friends, a job, and a cabin in the woods, I have everything I need to live a simple life without drawing attention to myself. Everything’s fine. Fine.
Until I meet my new neighbor. The gorgeous man is anything but subtle and brings color to my life that I didn’t know was missing. But I learned years ago that falling in love with someone wasn’t an option anymore when simply being seen with me could have dire consequences. It’s time for me to run again, but I wonder if it’s safe to stick around just long enough for a taste…
Just when I begin to realize Oz is the missing piece to bring me back to life after years of hiding, my past catches up to me and throws everyone around me into danger. I know I should run, but what if it’s time to finally stop running and make a stand, once and for all?
While Body and Soul is the third book in the Twist of Fate series, each novel can easily be read as a standalone.

I absolutely adore this whole series. This book was just as enjoyable as the previous two. I loved Oz and Jake. There were moment when I laughed, got all sniffly, and was on the edge of my seat. I was dying to know baout Jake’s past and what he was running from, and Oz was an absolute joy. I wanted them to get their happily ever after so bad. I highly recommend this series.
Oz and Jake Oil and Water Unforgettable Memories
I’ve listened to parts of this story multiple times and this is after reading the book. I do love the work of these authors, I’ll admit it. Sloane Kennedy is known for creating families of the heart with angst, passion, recovery from pains of the past. Lucy Lennox for humor, tense and passionate encounters and mending relationships. Put these two authors together and the story is a work of art – full of laughs, characters you want to know and love.
There were so many memorable moments –
Oz describing how the snow just appeared and stopped his car and how he is prepared for mountain winter living because his Jag has the “snow tire option” if he could only find the button…Too much!!!
And then there are the somewhat shocking or tender moments:
When Jake shocks Oz saying “Not straight,” …”Gay. Really very gay. With you, possibly even more gay.”
and the heart filling moment when Jake assures Oz, “Oz, how can you not see it? You didn’t ruin my shot at a new life. You ARE my shot at a new life.”
I big love this story, these authors.
In the same way that I have favorite authors, I have favorite voice actors. Some narrators do just that, narrate or read the story and there is nothing wrong with that but you never lose yourself in the story. There are a few who bring the characters to life, with all of their quirks and colorful personality, in the performance. These performers have a gift. The reader becomes part of the story and knows the characters, sometimes intimately. You forget that this is a single actor reading a story. Such is the talent of Michael Pauley. @PauleyNYC. I thought I’d lose it when OZ is describing how his Jag ended up in the snowbank. You could absolutely see Oz explaining this to macho Jake. If this were a competition for most enjoyable book boyfriend, Oz would have my vote.
Audiobook review
This was a sweet opposites attract between an ex super model and a sweet doctor set in a small town in Colorado. Oz’s personality took me by surprise. I was expecting a snarky high maintenance Diva, but instead he was super sweet and so insecure. Jake was an interesting character and he was the stability that Oz needed so desperately. This was an amazing first book in this series and I absolutely adored it. The characters were likeable, relatable and relatable. The storyline was engaging and the writing was enjoyable. Michael Pauley’s narration was smooth, perfect and absolutely flawless.
This story had lots of intrigue- fun times, sexy times, surprises and lots action at points!
I enjoyed it and had a few laughs and tears. You read it and think things will go one way but they take a turn and wow you are hit with OMG!
Loved it!
Lennox and Kennedy’s writing styles melded so well in this one!
Loved Princess Cujo.
I loved Oz and Jake’s story because not only was it a beautiful love story but also because it gave you a glimpse into the other two couples’ lives in this series. It also brought out the love between Oz’s best friend Zoey and the town’s pub owner Wade. I love this Lucy Lennox world just like all her other worlds.
I think this is my favorite of the series.
As always, it’s the characters that make this story so special. Ox and Jake were so endearing. Ox had some hilarious moments, it was impossible to hide my smile every time I read his POV. I just want to be his best friend. Jake was a bit more rough around the edges, but oh so lovable and you couldn’t help but sympathize with. I wanted to hug him and make sure nothing bad every happened to him again.
It was also great to see past couples (mostly Xander and Bennett) here. I love seeing all the friendships deepen. You know these people would do anything for their loved ones, which is amazing to read about. I love the idea of “found family” which this series in general takes on in all its books.
There wasn’t that much going on in terms of plot, at least not until the end. So I’d recommend this book (and series) to fans of character driven novels. If you’re a fan of those, then you should check out these authors!
I’m not sure if this is the last book in the series, but I would definitely love to see more from these characters in future books!
