When life deals a wild card, play it no matter the cost.Since the day Rey’s defiance earned her a blinding blow to the head, fear has hovered as close as the guide dog that clings to her side. But the terror that grips her now is almost beyond description.Like her sister before her, Rey has been sold to satisfy the lusts of one of the alien Beasts that now rule the Earth. If the towering, … Earth. If the towering, leather-clad Alpha discovers his prize can’t see, he could kill her with a flick of his claw. Or worse, send her home—where the only mercy she’ll get is a bullet.
From the moment the Alpha Beast spotted Rey smiling tenderly at her flowers, his desire to own her, body and soul, roared louder than his bike’s throaty engine. But the only smiles his new pair aims his way are forced—and oddly off target. She is liquid heat in his arms, yet ignores the notes and gifts he leaves for her.
If he can’t win her over, he can’t trust her with his own truth. And the combined weight of their secrets could destroy everything.

Don’t mess with the Alpha Beast’s “pair”…
I enjoyed this story. I didn’t follow the sex scenes very well, but that’s not what I’m reading for anyway so whatever. I loved how Jaime reacted to finally learning the truth of Rey’s past. This is a post-apocalyptic where humanity has withdrawn to smaller communities, leaving it ripe to be conquered. The conquering beasts take over the now-defunct cities and turn them in to great places to be… if you are paired with a beast
The first book in the Beast Mates series a well written story that kept me turning pages, I will say do not start at bedtime. This is Alpha Beast Jamie and blind human Rey, he does not know she is blind until he finds it out by accident. I want to read the next book. Well worth reading.
This was a word of mouth recommendation & a darned good time. I’ve now read almost everything this author has. Audiobook version is a good listen, too. Addictive!
The thing I loved most about this story is that our lovely heroine is blind! It was so well done that it had me so enthralled that after reading, I immediately searched out sfr/pnr with blind heroines. Huge disappointment 🙁
Not a teenage shifter romance…8-4-2020
This series is for grown a** women only! From all the pos-WWIII (Dystopian) genre Alien romance novels I have read (and do not want to live thru) humans treat each other in heart wrenching ways. This book is no exception. I like that Milana Jacks does not dwell on the bad and adds a great touch of humor.
*WARNING* contains explicit sexual content and violence
This could have been a five star if there had been some world building. As for most of these books, the aliens are referred to as beasts, but the humans do the more heinous actions. I enjoyed the this story. It’s well edited. Most of the characters are great, but there has to be at least one bad guy. I’ll be reading the next book in this series.
Jamie and Rey’s story was very interesting. He’s the Alpha Beast and now is his time to find a mate. Jamie is his, but she’s skeptical and closed off because she’s blind. She’s afraid he’ll find out about it and toss her aside.
Jamie’s past in not the best. Her childhood had nothing but sorrows and hardships. She’s just trying to survive every day and move forward. I was really frustrated with her for not telling him the truth about her blindness. I despised her uncle from the first chapter and I wanted to punch him!!
Hmm…a very unique storyline and world. It truly has the potential to be an awesome book and series. Problem is you don’t get a true sense of depth from the characters. I don’t mind insta anything but the author needs to work on bringing the characters and world to life. It’s like sitting down and recounting events and telling your friends a story. Like hey I need this person but we are different; but man let me tell you about… See? No real depth. Yet you can tell the author is working on this issue.
Seriously, post apocalyptic Earth and werewolf like aliens…yummy. Not to mention sexy time is just that, sexy. So much potential…yup I will read on to see where this goes.
I loved it. Absolutely great book. It just needed to be longer! There’s a fantastic scene at the end of the book and then it’s over! I wanted more of that last scene because it was absolutely wonderful. How a woman wants her man to be. You will love beast. Read it.
A fun book with a deep storyline, I read this story straight through! I loved the character, the dramatic storyline and even the almost one dimensional Beast Jaime. Rey is an easy to like character with a messed up backstory, I read the whole story hoping that she would find happiness. Can hardly wait to read Vice and Dewlyn’s story next!
A quick, hot read that’s just not my style
A new to me author, I wasn’t sure what to expect going in. A biker meets beast meets alien mates story, I was a little undecided if I actually wanted to keep reading as neither bikers nor dystopias are usually my thing. Add in a plot that is driven by secret keeping on both sides (a personal dislike) and, yeah, I was pretty close to putting it down.
The setup was intriguing though, and I thought the characters were interesting so I kept on going and once I got into it, there was plenty of chemistry between Jamie and Rey, and an interesting sub-plot with Vice and his “pair” (mate) to keep me hooked.
A little dark at times for me (though not unexpected for a biker style story, I prefer a little more humor with my dark), this was a quick, hot read that I found entertaining but just really not my style. I might give the next book a try just because I’m curious about Vice, though. 3 stars
Enjoyed the series!!
I read a short intro to this story at the end of the FREE prequel “Virgin Beast Mate (Beast Mates, #0)” – and was hooked! I had to purchase and read this story in order to find out what happens to Rey.
Despite being dealt a pretty crappy hand up to this point, she ends up with a wild card in the form of her mate, Jamie, the Alpha Beast. At first, he seems like a complete brute, being very abrupt and rude with Rey, treating her more like an object than a person; especially when he tells her that she cannot take her dog with them to her new home. Of course, he has no idea that the hound isn’t just a pet, but is instead her eyes and ears in a dark world. However, he still appears to be something of a jerk, especially from Rey’s point of view, who doesn’t have the insight into his true feelings that the reader is afforded.
Nonetheless, the two start to tenatively nagivate their way through their new relationship and living situation, something that proves none too easy for either of them. Add in some extra drama from outside sources, and it makes for some real interesting times.
I found this dystopian world for humans to be rather dreary and depressing. They’ve apparently blasted themselves at least a few generations backwards as far as living conditions and overall status. The Beasts have things better, but given that they supposedly travelled from light years away to conquer Earth by dominating the humans, they don’t seem to be all that technologically progressed. In fact, their homes appear to be much like ours today, including the presence of televisions for entertainment.
The inclusion of several human BDSM tendancies on the part of the beasts, while it may make for some spicy love scenes, just seems rather weird and out of place. They come across more like barbarian humans than advanced aliens.
Besides these couple of minor drawbacks, however, I found the book to be quite entertaining overall, especially in exploring the connection that develops between Rey and Jamie. I’m also looking forward to reading future volumes in the series, at least the next one, “Wild Beast Mate (Beast Mates, #2),” as I am particularly interesting in learning more about the relationship between Vice and Dewlyn.
