A very enjoyable read!
I hate cliffhangers but I was warned. Sam and Ben come together under the most unusual circumstances. They do have chemistry and their interaction is enjoyable. There is a mystery and danger. Sam is a little taken a back because of the promise he made to his friend which brings Sam to his door after Edward’s ship goes down. This is a wonderful story with wonderful characters the only draw back is the cliffhanger. This is a great regency story.

A wonderful couple that has a lot to overcome to be together. Samantha’s brother dies in a ship accident and she ends up with her brothers best friend Benjamin as her guardian. He’s not happy as he remembers her a a tomboy that fences. She’s not accepted by the ton as she’s from the country and not polished. Benjamin falls for her and wants to marry her but she has someone coming after her. There is a mystery about her fathers death and now her brothers. What is going on?

This is the first installment of the Wiltshire Chronicles series. The story combines historical romance with murder and mystery and makes for a very intriguing read. It does end on a cliffhanger, so be prepared to get the next book!
Samantha is a strong character, witty and full of spirit. Benjamin had promised his best friend and Samantha’s brother, Edmund, that he would act as Samantha’s guardian. He remembers a mischievous tomboy of all those years ago and is not prepared to see her all grown up and be so attracted to her. Samantha also is quite taken with Benjamin, but both are fighting it – Benjamin because of the promise made to Edward and Samantha because she does not wish to marry at all. Add to this there is still the murder mystery with the murderer still running loose. Such suspense and drama, I had a hard time putting the book down. I’m looking forward to the continuation of the story in the next installment!

Samantha Hastings is left caring for her brothers country estate after the ship he was on sank leaving his wife and three daughters in his London townhouse. When her sister-in-law wants her to come to London for the season she runs into her brother Edward’s best friend Benjamin, Lord Westwood, who agreed to help find a husband for Samantha if something happened to Edward. The more he tries to help her find a husband the more he thinks he should be that man but when Edward returns from the dead they realize someone is trying to kill the Hastings family because their father was poisoned. The book has it all from intriguing suspense to sizzling romance. I was disappointed that the story left in a cliff hanger but it clearly states that is the case so I can’t wait for the next book.
This starts with Mr Hastings being murdered over something he has hidden. You do not find our until later what was hidden and who the murderer is. During the story you meet Samantha Hastings, I have to admit I really like her. She is eventually engaged to Lord Benjamin Westwood. They’re romance has a lot of humour throughout and they are perfect for each other. Throw in a few surprises, a mystery and some creepy characters and you have a good book that was easy to read and enjoy.

The first book in the Wiltshire Chronicles series a well written story, with a cliff-hanger ending. I want to read the next book to find out what happens.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There is a lot going on in this book. Samantha’s sister-in-law, Wilhelmina, is determined to find her a husband even though Samantha has repeatedly denied wanting one. Benjamin was Edward, Samantha’s brother’s best friend. Before he left on a business trip, Edward made Benjamin promise to act as Samantha’s guardian should something happen to him. Shortly thereafter, Edward’s ship sinks and Benjamin has a promise to keep. This story moves along at a good clip, has a variety of fascinating characters, hidden danger, a mystery to solve and lots of surprises. It does end in a cliffhanger, so we do have to wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens.

This is a great historical romance crime book. There is great chemistry between Miss Hastings and Lord Westwood mixed in with betrayal of someone close to her who wishes her family ill will. An excellent read. I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.
I had forgotten how much I enjoy historical romances until I read A Perfect Plan. The characters were entertaining and very likable. The is enough mystery to keep you guessing until the end which includes a cliffhanger.

It was a long time I didn’t pick an historical romance and A Perfect Plan was great to break the ice and reminding me why I used to love this genre so much.
I instantly liked the characters, even the supporting ones are necessary to the development of the story.
You cannot not to love Samantha, she is not a common heiress, she is witty, smart and a little wild. She will cause some funny troubles for her charming guardian.
This was a good debut novel, the writing is really good and the plot is engaging.
I plan to continue to read this series to discover the truth and solve the puzzle.
I hope Alyssa Drake will release the next book soon.
Talk about a mystery. It takes a really good historical romance to keep my attention and this book is one of the best. I love the characters, yet there is a lot going on in this story. It has mystery, romance, dances, ladies and gentlemen. I recommend it.

Who’s the mystery man? Is he just a stranger that’s murdering the Hastings men? Or someone they know?
This is part 1 that ends on a cliffhanger, Samatha is 20 years old and still acts like a adolescent, even stomps her foot when she’s mad. I couldn’t understand her at all, she nice then turns into a b witch in the next second. She don’t want a husband but she has no problems flirting and being alone with men and getting Into bed with one. Benjamin doesn’t want a wife but he will after ‘tasting’ Sam. Okay. I had to skip places here and there, the backviews were confusing when they were mixed up in in parts where your in the ‘present’ then years ago then back, with no space to process the past. I couldn’t connect to the characters or the book and finding out that this is only a part of the whole story, I would have like to see that it was a a cliffhanger as a warning, cuz I would have never agreed to read it.
