Lucas always loved Maxie, but Maxie married his broth Keith…but Keith dies and leaves her in debt and things were good like he projected them to be. Bad unpredictable circumstances are brought forth after his death and she’s left to deal with them. However, no man is ever going to run her life again. Lucas has to be smart in how to get her to accept his help so that she can start to trust him that he won’t leave her with a mess to deal with. Lucas was so patient with her and loving. Very good book.
This is Book 2 of the Billionaire Bad Boys Series
This is the story of Lucas & Maxie. They were childhood best friends. Neither one or the other brought up their feelings for each other, so they didn’t know they even had feelings for one another. He is now a businessman. Maxie is married to Lucas’ brother, Keith, and lives downstairs from Lucas, and she’s pregnant, until she has a late term miscarriage. Keith died, and when he did, she found out she had no means of support. She ends up staying with Lucas. Things progress, and then digress from there. Bad things from her deceased husband’s past keep coming up. I always look forward to steamy scenes, which Carly Phillips didn’t disappoint me. Can’t wait to read Book 3.
Going Down Fast is the second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series and it was a really great 5* read.
Second chance reads are fast becoming a favourite of mine (thought PNR is still my first love!) I had to say that normally I’m not a fan of millionaire/billionaire heroes but for Carly Phillips I definitely make an exception.
Lucas and Maxie should have been together forever but circumstances saw her choose the wrong brother.. This pair were friends who never managed to get it together when they were younger but now, mainly down to some really shitty actions on her husbands part that have smacked Maxie hard, the two of them end up sharing an apartment and even though they fight their attraction and the reasons why they think they shouldn’t act on their feelings, they finally managed to get together (YAY!!). Gods, this pair totally lit up my e-reader (and it helps that L is such a dirty talker!) 😉
Going Down Fast was a well written story; emotional, engaging, sweet, hot and sexy with a touch of intrigue, I honestly couldn’t put my kindle down as Carly had me pulled me in from the start.
I cannot wait for Going Down Hard , the third and final book in the series!!
When you pick up a Carly Phillips book you know you’re going to get a hot, steamy love story, but what you get with Going Down Fast is so much more.
Lucas has wanted Maxie for what seems like forever, and maybe it’s time for them to be together. But their journey isn’t easy and many obstacles stand in their way. However, if they can fight their way through all the drama, then they will be able to have the future they’ve always wanted.
After Going Down Easy, I couldn’t wait for Going Down Fast and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s got huge sexual tension, passion, heart, compassion and undeniable love. Lucas is the nice guy you can’t help but fall in love with. And through everything that Maxie goes through, you’ll be drawn to her strength and resilience.
The Billionaire Bad Boy series is one of my favorite series this year and I waiting on the edge of my seat for Going Down Hard.
Going Down Fast is the 2nd installment of the Billionaire Bad Boys series. It’s a Contemporary Romance with a Second Chance/Friends to Lovers trope. This book has lots of angst and drama, interconnecting characters, steam and IMO, a dialogue I can’t particularly “get into”. A Brothers Wife story is not for me…
Lucas Monroe is a Billionaire Tech God and was best friends with Maxie Sullivan growing up. She ended up marrying his brother and any contact between them became few and far between. But he still has feelings for her and when all of a sudden he gets a call from her, he drops everything and runs to her aide.
Maxie’s is broke and depressed and has no where else to go, she turns to the man she has always loved but asks that he let her make her own decisions for herself. Living together throws them for a loop and feelings they’ve always had grow into more. Can she trust her heart to this brother and will they be able to have a future after all the secrets from the past are exposed?
Great story line and loved the characters
Loved this book. The characters were wonderful and it was hard to put it down.
I couldn’t put it down! Loved the romance, passion and intensity of the relationship. Fun to read, very enjoyable & kept me turning the page!
I truly loved reading this book. I’m looking for more books by this author!!
Excellent, could not put it down
The boy you loved growing up becomes unavailable. The girl you wanted growing up marries your brother. What happens when the husband turns out to be less than law abiding and then dies? Can you go from in-laws to more?
Onederful story absolutely loved it
What happens when you’ve married the wrong brother? Lucas has always loved Maxie since his teen years but never told her. Years later can Lucas and Maxie have a future? Both have past issues to work through. No cliffhanger and Hea. Great story and series.
love everything by this author
This was okay; another typical struggling, middle-class girl getting with a billionaire. Bonus spin: they were friends first and she’s victim to his manipulative brother. Also, there’s a little bit of a crime/mystery side plot which keeps it interesting. Not a bad listen while working.
3.5 stars.
Note:
I listened to the audiobook; the narrator has a pleasant enough voice. 4-star performance.
Anything by CarlyPhillips up is excellent! The minute any of her books are up for reading, count me in! I’ll read anything she writes…
Lucas and Maxie had been in love since childhood. But his brother managed to marry her. After his death Lucas found out what a scumbag his brother really was.
Very steamy. Good story. Love finally wins out
Loved the story and the characters.
This series is fast reading and engaging.
This is a great mix of steamy romance and vanquishing the bad guys. I totally enjoyed it (although I did skim most of the steamy sex). I was mentally yelling at the characters as to where ‘it’ was … so clever of them, I was wrong! I cheered her cleverness during the abduction. I was so happy for them after all.
