Forgotten World, book six in the Broken World series, continues following a group of survivors after a super-virus has decimated the human race and the dead have come back to claim it as their own…
After the longest winter of her life, Vivian is thrilled to have Ginny back at her side. But joy soon turns to shock when the group learns that not only is Hope Springs in contact with other … contact with other survivors, but that the CDC is working on a vaccine. And Angus could be the last hope for the human race.
With an armed escort, the group sets out on a mission to get Angus to Atlanta. But the world proves to be more dangerous than the people of Hope Springs believed, and their lack of preparation ends in deadly results. Vivian knows they must get Angus to Atlanta if they want to save the human race, but it doesn’t take long to discover that this might be the most dangerous journey they have ever made. With trouble around every corner and their losses piling up, the stakes are higher than ever before.

I’ve read this series several times and can honestly say I’ve enjoyed it every time. It gets me so involved with the characters and am on the edge of my seat throughout the book. I’m a life long fan of this author. I think it would make a great movie.
Ever since Vivian and the group were separated from John and Hadley/Ginny, she has hoped and wondered if they made it out alive if they were safe. When one of their own is in need of more medical attention than they are able to give them so they all head out to Hope Springs where they run into Jon and Ginny. Vivian is so happy to once again lay eyes on her friends.
After arriving at Hope Springs they learn that they have been in contact with other survivors. They learn that there are survivors at the CDC in Atlanta and after learning about Angus the CDC wants him there as quickly as possible as he could be humanity’s last hope of surviving the zombie apocalypse.
Dax and his loyal group of men are assigned to get Angus to Atlanta safely. But there are a couple of problems with Dax being in charge. One he doesn’t want anyone going with them as he thinks they would just slow them down and be in the way. But Vivian, Axl, and the rest of the group will not let Angus go without them as they do not trust Dax. Dax is always smiling like he has something to hide behind that smile.
Vivian, Axl, and their group know that they will have a hard time getting to Atlanta even if Dax and his group does not. Dax has not had the experience out there fighting zombies as they have. He has been tucked away behind walls may be venturing out on a supply run or two on occasion but of course, Dax thinks he knows more than anyone else. Will they make it to Atlanta? Is Angus humanity’s last hope? Can he alone save the world?
I have so loved being on this journey with Vivian, Axl, Angus, and the rest of the crew as they have made their way through this zombie-infested world just trying to survive while fighting lots and lots of zombies along the way.
I have loved getting to know all the characters, watching as the world around them changed them in different ways, and how it has affected them and seeing the person/s they have become.
I so hate to see the end of it and sorely hopes that the author sees fit to revisit this Broken World with more and more stories with our favorite characters and maybe a few new ones as well. I can’t get enough of this Broken World. Their journeys and stories seemed to get better and better with each book. There were so much action and zombie-fighting that I never once got bored. I loved each and every word. Once I picked up one of the books in the Broken World series I couldn’t lay it down until I had read the last word. I hope to one day turn on the TV and see the Broken World as a series. This would make me so happy!
I am so grateful to Kate L. Mary and a free trial of Kindle Unlimited for this opportunity to have read the Broken World series.
I highly recommend and invite anyone who likes zombies, the post-apocalyptic, and The Walking Dead to grab your copy of Forgotten World and the whole Broken World books today to begin this epic zombie-infested Broken World story!
Forgotten World (Broken World Series, Book 6) by Kate L. Mary and narrated by Hillary Huber kept my interest and makes me want more.
The group’s main focus is getting Angus to Atlanta and they hit quite a few bumps along the way. There’s a good amount of action in the second half, friendships and relationships continue to grow, the not-so-nice guy leading them to Atlanta (he wasn’t as bad as her usual villains, so I was a tad disappointed), loses, gains, and of course zombies! The story is told from Vivian’s POV, with her and Axl being the main focus, although the others come close.
The narrator, Hillary Huber, was good. Overall enjoyed it. I’d listen to her again.
I actually purchased this in error- I wanted to start from the beginning and make my way up to this one (oops!), but I was not disappointed in the long run. If you’ve listened to or read her Twisted World series, you will not have a problem starting with this one. I was able to keep up/recognize characters no problem and it’s nice to know the back stories of those I learned about in Twisted World. With that being said, I plan to start from the beginning as I feel I’ve missed a decent amount and character development (ex. when did Angus become nice/good? Where did he get bit?).
Forgotten World has our group heading to Atlanta to the CDC. This journey has them all on edge for good reason…..it’s bad enough to be dealing with flesh chomping Zombies, but when you add nasty good for nothing humans into the mix it makes it down right dangerous beyond words. Will everyone that left Hope Springs, Colorado make it to Atlanta…..lets just say the odds are not in their favor!
I really love this series and I believe this particular book made me cry like never before. There were several moments of both excitement and sadness that had me never wanting to put the book down. I can’t give away why I was in tears, but in my opinion when a story has this big of an affect on the reader, it’s a sure sign of an amazing author. When you feel the characters are more like family to you the more you read about them and their hardships. I felt like I was right there along with them, though in reality they are much braver than I am. Onto the next book in this awesome series!
What makes a really good book? These are some of the things: a believable plot, a pace that keeps you turning the pages, characters you feel you know, and care about, situations that affect your emotions. Forgotten World has all of these; it’s the best in this series.
Vivian, Axl and the gang set out to get their one hope, the virus-immune Angus, to Atlanta, where the CDC are working on a cure. The road trip is hazardous beyond their expectations, and people get lost on the way. There were three instances in the second half of the book that actually made me cry – I mean real tears running down my cheeks and sniffing, not just a watery eye! I can’t say which they are or I’ll give the plot away, though.
There were some things about the book I was a bit disappointed with – not knowing what happened to a new favourite character, and the quick disposal of a menace who could have run and run. And what about The Watchers? So sinister – I wanted to know more! Yes, there are editing errors, too – quite a few instances of the wrongly assigned dependent clause (eg, something like “Walking down the road, the bus ran me over” – if you don’t know what’s wrong with that, ask an editor!), the constant lack of the word ‘of’ after ‘couple’ (a couple years, a couple blankets) – fine when in Axl and Angus’s dialogue, not so good in Vivian’s narration. Some basic proofreading errors, like backwards apostrophes. But I’d still recommend this book to anyone who likes this genre; Amazon tells us that 5* means ‘I loved it’. I did, I loved this book, and I was so sad to say goodbye to the characters (especially the one we lost last!). I think the series could have done with one more book, but I’ve just seen that Kate Mary has also produced ‘Broken Stories’, so perhaps some of my questions will be answered in that…. I’ve just downloaded it to start reading immediately!
