The memoir of a high-functioning, law-abiding (well, mostly) sociopath and a roadmap—right from the source—for dealing with the sociopath in your life.As M.E. Thomas says of her fellow sociopaths, “We are your neighbors, your coworkers, and quite possibly the people closest to you: lovers, family, friends. Our risk-seeking behavior and general fearlessness are thrilling, our glibness and … thrilling, our glibness and charm alluring. Our often quick wit and outside-the-box thinking make us appear intelligent—even brilliant. We climb the corporate ladder faster than the rest, and appear to have limitless self-confidence. Who are we? We are highly successful, noncriminal sociopaths and we comprise 4 percent of the American population.”
Confessions of a Sociopath—part confessional memoir, part primer for the curious—takes readers on a journey into the mind of a sociopath, revealing what makes them tick while debunking myths about sociopathy and offering a road map for dealing with the sociopaths in your life. M. E. Thomas draws from her own experiences as a diagnosed sociopath; her popular blog, Sociopathworld; and scientific literature to unveil for the very first time these men and women who are “hiding in plain sight.”

Author provides firsthand account of the life of a sociopath
Didn’t finish the book, too repetitive.
Makes you think different about a sociopath.
Did not buy, not very interesting to me.
Well written book giving new insight into what a sociopath really is. Well worth reading.
Very interesting. I’ve already recommended it to someone and they immediately searched for it and purchased a copy.
I found this book very interesting and somewhat disturbing. I had to keep reminding myself that the author, while she may sound objective in her analysis of the people in her world, is telling her story from the viewpoint of a sociopath (obviously). For example, the way she relates her story is very critical of her parents, which may or may not be deserved, but probably serves her purposes. If you like books that make you think or psychological topics this is a good choice.
A book with great insight..
I learned a lot from this author’s perspective!
subject matter I have always been interested in…answered a lot of my questions.
The author is a diagnosed sociopath who has taken the time to do some introspection and is willing to share what she learned. I found it fascinating.
Disturbing. I deleted it from my library
Clearly written by a sociopath, Without any real insight , self serving and mostly BORING.
Very interesting, easy read.
The author M.E. Thomas may or not be a Sociopath ( yes, one Psychologist diagnosed her as such) but she is bright enough to “pretend” and delude since she grew up with a Sociopathic father. Regardless, Thomas does a reasonably good job of writing about the behavior of a sociopath. It is worth reading if you are interested in human behavior as am I.
Hard at times to like this person, but helpful to understand the thought processes. Also, lent some sympathy as to the struggle of a sociopath who wants to have good relationships but does not often manage. Interesting that her religion helps, by providing rules. Even if she does not understand why the rule exists, she can follow it and generally things go pretty well.
Very informative, especially how to deal effectively with sociopaths.
This greedy sociopath lawyer celebrates her mental illness like a mad cow ….. or more properly ……. a SOCIOPATH!
This woman believes the world progresses because of sociopaths! Everyone else is just stupid. LAUGHABLE!
Perhaps this book should be categorized as a sad comedy.
She insults her readers and talks down to them as intellectual inferiors to her snobby little self. Therefore, she deserves no readers!
The endorsements are an embarrassment for these companies to endorse such an arrogant woman.
this book was very informative and right on target. a look into the mind of a sociopath–not all sociopaths are criminal. this really explained a close relative to me and helped me understand her better. highly recommend it.
