TL Clark is becoming an author that I follow. I am never disappointed with any of her stories. Love Gaia is a dystopian romance. I find myself turning the pages because I wanted to find out what was going to happen. The characters are complex and intriguing. Clark has a unique writing ability that makes everything vivid and real for the reader. Aroha lives in a society that has sheltered life. There are some harsh lessons to be learned. Will the Aroha and her classmates learn from the past to change the world in which they live? I highly recommend this story to find out what happens to Aroha and her classmates.
Love Gaia : The Diary Directive by T.L. Clark. This is a new to me author. While out of my normal genre, I did enjoy this book. This is a dystopian romance book, which usually would have me conflicted but I was engaging and the book, page by page pulled me in. I found myself following and completely enthralled in the story. I am looking forward to more books by this author.
A well-written book and an engaging read, probably most suited to a YA audience. It also has a beautiful cover that would be better appreciated in the paperback version than on my Kindle.
Set in a post-apocalyptic future world after mankind has almost been wiped out, the narrative alternates between a diary which was written by one of the first survivors and the story of Aroha, a young woman approaching adulthood, and her friends who are hearing the diary for the first time. The atmosphere created by the diary is harsh and claustrophobic, in sharp contrast to the freedom of the young people who are listening the story.
Not the action-packed drama of many novels in this genre, but it doesn’t need to be. The issues the book explores are thought-provoking and relevant to us all.
This book is a little spooky to read in the current real world climate. It mirrored things from our right now rather than a hypothetical future. It’s also a little eye-opening the way the children in this story react to their fictional ancestor’s cruelty, when it’s not far off from our own and so many people today are desensitized to it. The tone sort of reminds me of a mix between Divergent and The Giver. This is a little off my usual reading genre, but if you like YA dystopia then you’ll probably enjoy this.
Where do I even start?! This book grabbed me by the face from the beginning and did not let go lightly. A little different than most dystopian books I’ve read, but most definitely a welcome difference.
I was so excited to get my hands on this latest TL Clark novel. I absolutely have loved all of her other works and was really excited to see what this one would hold. This book not only met all my expectations but exceeded it for sure! This book is a post war dystopian with a hint of romance to keep things a bit light. I loved the main character, Aroha (who wouldn’t love that name, it is so beautiful!) and following her as she struggles to learn and adjust her thinking to save the world she lives in. We see her being put in a bunker with the impending doom of a meteor coming for earth. While they are there they are all given the diary of Dr. Rachel and through the readings they learn how to avoid the mistakes of the past. Will they learn fast enough and be able to salvage the world before it perishes? I am looking forward to seeing what else we will get from TL Clark, I will for sure be there for it with bells on!
Love Gaia: The Diary Directive by TL Clark was a mystery to me and I began reading not knowing quite what to expect. I must say that this story was a big surprise. It was so vastly different to what I usually read. I can honestly say that I have never read an environmental romance before, and it was a meaningful discovery. If there are words, I will read them. It doesn’t matter what it is, I have to read what is written, even if I don’t necessarily enjoy what I read. I was totally entertained by TL Clark. Love Gaia was unexpected, emotional and honest. I am really looking forward to sampling more of this new to me author. 4 stars.

Love Gaia: The Diary Directive By T.L Clark is such a thought provoking and interesting story set in the post-apocalyptic future- where there are lessons to be learned to avoid the same fate.
I love exploring Ms. Clark’s work, as she always brings something new and different to the table. This standalone story took me on a bit of a dystopian journey through devastation, survival, environmental issues, lessons to be learned, drama, emotion, mystery, action, and hope.
As I would expect from Ms. Clark, this story is beautifully written and paints a picture of a believable future- with vividly descriptive scene setting and superb detailing. Ms. Clark’s world building is quite masterful.
We meet Aroha and her classmates who live in a future dystopian society, their sheltered existence gets a shake-up with some shocking and harsh lessons. The hope being that they will learn from the past, so future generations won’t make the same mistakes which led to the devastation and changed the world forever. The lessons involve the journal entries made by Dr. Rachel, and her personal experiences in the events that occurred now help to shape the future.
Intriguing reading!
Thank you, T.L Clark!
The first thing that drew me to this book was the clean clover. I real enjoyed reading through the dairy you feel as if you are there and can imagine what is happening in there happening now it pulls at your heart strings Arhoa I adore how blunt her chacter is and how brazen she is
Dr. Rachel the trauma she had to go through and showing how not a were as forunte as her. The characters learn alot of important lesson through reading this dairy. It can be a complicated read at time however it is very well writtenand definitely a book that dersvere your attention.
Clark is a known author to me but this genre was a new one from her for me. And I loved it! Sometimes when dystopian and romance are mixed they become diluted and predictable. But this story had all of the elements well established and the plot kept quick pace and kept me guessing. I loved this story and cannot wait to go back and read it again.
This book pulled me in right from the start. A post war/romance, we meet Dr. Rachel as she being pulled away to an emergency conference and is told a meteor is headed at Earth. After being placed in a bunker, she starts to realize things are not as they seem. Aroha and her classmates are finally of age to learn about where their community came from. The story is hard for the teenagees to grasp because the Before was immensely different from anything they have known.
This story was full of action, romance, mystery and emotion. I couldn’t get enough of it.
This is my first book by TL Clark. I couldn’t wait to read this book, and it did not disappoint. I loved every single character and all the story lines. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. This was an amazing story about how life COULD actually be and how we can make it better. I fell into this book and didn’t want to come back out. To avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, Aroha and her classmates must learn harsh lessons. Remember to maintain, “Honesty, Respect, Fortitude,” as you read this thrilling and agonizing tale of devastation, survival and hope. A post-nuclear war, dystopian vs. utopian, environmental romance.
