The world sees Lady Elora Brodie as a rigid, controlling noblewoman, but inside her beats a passionate and rebellious heart. Determined to protect her independence, she will do anything to avoid marriage to her insistent neighbor—and every other man for that matter. She will even venture beyond the comforts of home to traverse the disreputable shipyards of Inverness in search of a man reckless … enough to set her plan in motion, a plan she hopes will ensure that she never need utter the words “to honor and obey.”
To all the world, Nathan Campbell is fearless, strong, irresistibly sexy and when not tracking down thieves for a price, he can generally be found in a tavern, too far into his cups and draped by women vying to welcome him into their beds. But if they were to look beyond his devilishly charming smile to his eyes, they would see that he was hollow inside, and no amount of coin, drink, or women could fill the void in his heart.
Both Elora and Nathan will see the other as a means to achieve their worldly goals—but what if within their wounded hearts beats more? What if dreams lie in wait? Dreams that can only be realized when unleashed by a passion too powerful to contain and impossible to deny.

The thief taker
Elora Brodie must save her people and herself from the vile Laird Egan Mackintosh. Promised in marriage by her cruel father to Mackintosh, Elora must hire someone to be her betrothal in order to thwart his plan. Searching taverns/inns on the waterfront, she finds the type of man she needs. Nathan Campbell, is a thief taker who’s not afraid to take on any man. The sparks between them can’t be denied. Nathan wants a true marriage and his plan is to fan the flames between them. Lily Baldwin books are filled with tension and desire. One of my favorite authors.
Read The Renegade by Lily Baldwin the first book in her Rebel Hearts series. It is an exciting and excellent read. I loved it! With the fiery and fiercely independent Lady Elora and the equally fiery and rakish renegade Nathan Campbell, we are brought into the medieval world of Scottish clans and true romance of Lady Elora and Nathan as they battle themselves and each other to form their love bond. Lily Baldwin does not disappoint as she weaves a tale of Scottish pride and love in the Highlands. Many surprises along the way keep the reader engrossed in this love tale. I highly recommend The Renegade.
As Always Lily Baldwin Spins a visual tale, I am Never disappointed, She has a way to pull you into the story , I never want it to end. The Renegade is the 1st in a new series honestly I cannot wait for the next, The Tempest
Nathan and Elora were a perfect match once they got over pull & tug for power when you communicate compromise & work together everything falls into place.
I highly recommend this book & every other book Lily Baldwin has written.
Great start to a series with a Scottish touch! 5 stars
I loved Lily Baldwin’s first’s story ‘The Renegade’! This one is such a beautiful written medieval romance novel! The heroine is a little bit ‘bossy’ and very independent and the hero sweet and understanding. I love how he was patient with her! They were perfect with each other.
The Renegade tells the story of Elora Brodie, a controlling noblewoman, but underneath her appearances, lies a gentle woman in need of a loving man. That’s when Nathan Campbell enters her life! Being used to control her clan and being in charge, her lack of experience in the outdoors will get her in troubles, that’s when Nathan comes to her rescue. Elora refuses to marry a man her father had chosen for her. That’s when she concocts a plan… and asks Nathan to pretend to be her betrothed for a short while. Their loves scenes are passionate and very well written, always with a touch of tenderness. That’s when the fun begins…
Lily Baldwin is a very talented writer, this novel was a delight to read, it’s very well written with romance and some touch of humor. I was not disappointed, I truly recommend it, I also suggest that you read her next book ‘The Tempest” coming this Summer!
Lovely story!
