All is fair in Love and LighthousesWith a group of fantastic friends, a handsome detective on her arm and a love of everything sweet and sticky, things should have been looking up for Ally and her B&B. Especially with her best friend from London coming to stay. Surely a little bit of Lizzy in Westford Bay would brighten the place up.But the small coastal town is about to be hit again.A body … about to be hit again.
A body is found behind a locked door in the lighthouse and suddenly mysterious conversations, strange guests and family secrets throw everyone on edge. Who is the killer and could they have anything to do with those creepy flowers that keep showing up?
While her romance with Detective Sebastian Ardent is tested, she finds herself elbow-deep in the mystery. If any of her guests have something to do with the murder, will she be able to solve it before they strike again?

A delightfully entertaining read with a great mystery that quickly turned into a page-turner, drama, intrigue, interesting suspects, twists and turns. I really like Ally Westcott, who inherited a B&B from her late grandfather in beautiful Westford Bay and enjoyed her dynamic with the other characters especially her best friend Lizzy who comes from London for a visit, Lewis and Rachel who help out at the B&B and her love interest Detective Sebastian Ardent. If you enjoy well-written cozies with a British twist, don’t miss “Lighthouses and Lies”.
Lizzy is coming to visit Ally in her inherited
Westford B&B. Lizzy is Ally’s very best friend
from her life in London. This is an exciting time
for Ally. That is until the body of a local
contractor is found dead. The body was
in a locked room within the lighthouse.
Ally spurs into action using her investigative
skills even as the handsome Zeb tries to
talk her out of looking into the murder to
kee her safe.
Murder, deliveries of roses from an anonymous
source, secret conversations, arrival of the
deceased wife and the deceased girlfriend
at the B&B add to tension in the air then there
is the mysterious new lighthouse owner.
Combine all the above plus Lizzy’s being there
for a fast paced read. The characters are all
well fleshed out, relatable and add to flavor
to the story.
British terminology and British spellings are
used throughout the book.
This is book # 3 in the Westford Bay B&B
Cozy Mysteries series. It can be read as a
stand alone as the past and present are
effortlessly presented.
I volunteered to read Lighthouses and Lies.
Thanks to the author for the opportunity to
read and leave a voluntary review. My
opinion is my own.
An enjoyable series!!
Ally runs her grandparents B&B in Westford Bay. She’s moved from London and made lots of great friends. Lizzy is an old friend from London who has come to visit. A murder occurs in the lighthouse and Ally becomes embroiled in solving the mystery.
An enjoyable story with enjoyable characters.
This book is a wonderful cozy mystery. It is book 3 in this grand series “A Westford Bay B&B British Cozy Mystery”. I have read all three and loved them all but I do think you could read this book as a stand-alone book too.
All the characters in this series are so wonderful. Ally, Lewis, Fran, Lizzy, and Seb are written so well you think you can go to Westford and meet them in person. Stay at the lovely B&B. Eat at the Cafe owned by Fran, just be careful not to get yourself involved in a murder. I hope there are many more adventures with Ally and friends.
I love the Westford Bay B&B enough to want to book my next vacation there!. Ally, Lizzy, Lewis, Seb & the townspeople are all so dear to me. Mr. Roberts has infused them with unique personalities. In this well plotted mystery one big question is why kill the contractor? There are suspicious characters a plenty, but a motive seems missing. There are several twists. I could not put this one down!
This is the third book in the Westford Bay B&B British Cozy Mystery Series but can be read as a standalone. A little mystery goes a long way for Ally and her detective boyfriend, Sebastian. A dead body is found in the lighthouse and Ally is on the hunt for the murderer. She’s convinced that it might be one of her B & B guests. The book is humorous and drama filled. The characters are likable and fun. Some twists to keep you guessing and an ex shows up to muddy Ally’s romance with the detective. A cute book that I read as an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
I enjoyed this book, I particularly liked that it is a genuinely British story, with believable characters and location descriptions.
The book describes itself as a ‘cozy’ mystery, but I thought that it was more of a classic ‘whodunnit’ along the lines of Agatha Christie etc., not that there is any explicit sex or violence, but the tone is a little more intense than the usual cozy, but for me this is a very good thing as it makes it more real and exciting.
There is quite a strong romance aspect to the book as well, which ties in very well with the rest of the storyline.
I also liked that there were some humorous moments as well, the pizza delivery scene made me laugh!
Overall this is a good read, and I am looking forward to reading more in the series. I received an advance copy of the book, but have voluntarily written this honest review.
The world building in this series is fantastic. The characters are wonderful and complex. The story itself has twists and turns enough to make you wonder who the murderer will be. Ally and her friends make the story feel like you are actually there with them. Really enjoy this series. It has everything, murder, mystery, romance, friendship, and of course a great plot.
Ally has settled in well at her inherited B & B at Westford. She is going out with the local police detective – Seb – and her best friend from London , Lizzy, is visiting. So, Ally is in her element until the body of a local contractor is found in a locked room at the local lighthouse. The lighthouse has been bought by a mystery buyer and the other prospective buyers aren’t happy. Ally is convinced that someone staying at her B & B has something to do with the murder, but she can’t prove it. To top everything off, her cheating ex-fiance has turned up in town, putting a spoke in the wheels or her relationship with Seb. Ally feels that if she can solve the murder everything will go back to normal.
Lighthouses and Lies is the third book in the Westford Bay B&B Cozy Mystery Series and is a real locked-door mystery.
I loved this story and found Ally to be a well-developed character, likable and relatable. The storyline is well written and engaged my interest from start to finish, with murder behind a locked door, secrets, drama, suspense, intrigue, and relationship rumblings.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Absolutely love this series. Great likeable characters in a lovely town. Ally runs the B&B she inherited from her grandfather. She gets involved in another murder when the contractor is murdered at the local lighthouse. Twist and turns make this a fun, enjoyable read. I was given a free ARC by the author. My review is freely and honestly given
