SHANE MILLER SLEEP DIARY:Went to bed at: Late. How long it took to fall asleep: Forever. I have insomnia. Duh.Number of caffeinated beverages you had consumed: Zero. Thanks for advising me to quit!My stress level is off the charts. I can’t sleep right on a normal day, and lately my days are filled with the best kind of chaos. My ex-wife and husband number two are filming in Poland for three … kind of chaos.
My ex-wife and husband number two are filming in Poland for three months,
so I’m turning down movie parts to focus on the most important role of my life—
impossibly charming and somewhat capable young single dad.
My son won’t stop asking questions.
My daughter won’t brush her teeth unless I sing her showtunes.
Our regular nanny quit.
The only person I could trust to hire as a temp nanny is my best friend’s sister.
If Mary Poppins and Bill Murray had a baby it would be Willa.
Fresh out of grad school and beautifully weird.
She hates my movies, and my kids adore her.
I couldn’t sleep last night because she wasn’t here.
Turns out I can’t sleep unless she’s in my house now.
Turns out she’s what’s been missing from my life all along.
If my friend had any idea what I want to do to his gorgeous troublemaker of a sister,
he would smother me with a pillow.
The chances of us succeeding as a couple are about as good as that little indie movie
that I made being a huge hit.
But it’s a chance I’m going to take.

Perfect! This delightful comedy romance is a sure fire thing, in my estimation, as it combines all the very best ingredients to make it a read which will lighten any load in the mind or heart. It is warm, funny, sensual, populated by characters to fall in love with, well written and, best of all, left me with the smile of reader satisfaction!
Willa and Shane just made my day better. Throw in Summer and Lucky and, basically, I moving in with them. Just need to brush up my musicals knowledge. Loved every word!
I have now listened to the audio of this gorgeous book. Here’s my review:
I loved reading Sleeper, but this audio is just a total delight. The wit and warmth of this funny, romantic, well written story is performed with great skill, tone and deftness by the wonderfully talented Teddy Hamilton ( who I could listen to forever!) and Mackenzie Cartwright. Both capture the characters with their sympathetic portrayals and create a listening experience which is second to none.
Sleeper by Kayley Loring was a fun, sweet and sexy story. It was filled with a heart-warming tale of a single dad just trying to get all the pieces of his life to work. Shane Miller may be a big-time actor with the world at his feet, but he’s an upstanding, honest and real guy who will steal your heart and leave you swooning in the aisles.
Willa has had a huge crush on Shane for forever and she once got to meet the star when she was just a kid and he was a teenager. The meeting left a lasting impression on both of them, but Shane went on to marry someone else and to have twins. Summer Rain and Lucky Scout (such ‘actors kids’ names lol). These kids are sweet and precocious and help carry the story as much as Shane and Willa do.
Years after that first and only meeting, Shane is in desperate need of a nanny and thanks to Willa’s brother who just happens to be his best friend, he knows she can help.
Willa has spent years in Paris studying to become a perfumery specialist. She was a nanny there too, so when her brother suggests she take the job with Shane, it’s hard not to say yes.
She’s still harboring feelings for Shane though…
This was a fun read. It’s dual POV so we get both characters’ feelings and emotions. You can’t help feeling for Shane, he’s an insomniac and is so darned tired, until Willa is truly in his life. Is she the catalyst he needs to break free?
Watching these two come together was a delight. It’s kinda slow-burning but the resulting sexual tension and heightened chemistry make it so worth the wait. So, make sure you don’t. Wait that is. One-Click this temptation today.
This was a slow Burn romance full of sarcasm and wit. The single father and the nanny, but they knew each other when they were younger and reconnected.
It was an entertaining story.
Oh my goodness, right from the start, this book was beyond a delightful surprise. I’m not sure if I’ve used that in a review before, but it popped in my head and I’m going with it. I was pretty much laughing from the very beginning, pulling the ole’ “one more chapter” ( instead of getting out of the already turned chilly no longer bubble bubble bath), and trying to get in reading every chance I could. I COMPLETELY LOVED these characters. The performer, super handsome insomniac dad Shane Miller, actor and dad to adorable twins who are more than a handful, and the perfumer, Willa Todd, genius beauty who’s a little weird and is amazing with scents. Also Shane’s best friends sister. The four of them are quite the trip together. Willa steps in as their nanny, the chemistry is off the charts, and love is in the air. Shane & Willa are made for each other. And with those adorable precocious 5 year olds, they are a perfect family in the making. They just need to get themselves there and believe it. I said it before and I’ll say it again. I loved this. SO MUCH!!!
I’m going to go on the record and say that this book has made my Top 5 List of 2019. Just yes. This book is everything all wrapped up with a pretty little scented bow.
Shane and Willa are the funniest characters I have read in forever. They are so very different from each other but ever so perfect for one another.
He is an incredibly successful actor, sexy as hell, exhausted single dad. She is a perfumer and is as quirky as she is beautiful. In the 12 years since she met her teenage crush (who also happened to be her brother’s co-star), she has never forgotten him.
In a moment of pure insanity, Shane hires Willa to be his 5 year old twins nanny and she in an equally crazy moment accepts the position.
Their attraction to one another is a proven scientific fact (just ask the perfumer ) and they are not able to stop themselves from giving into it. From here on out, the pages of this book are filled with actor hanky panky and nanny nookie and it is equal parts hilarious and hot!
Do yourself a favor and TBR, pre-order, one-click this book ASAP and fall in love (while laughing out loud) with the performer and the perfumer. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review).
This is Shane and Willa’s story. The movie star and interim nanny who is actually a perfumer. “The Performer and the Perfumer.” I’m not gonna go on about the plot because really you can read the blurb for that but take it from me that you need to listen to this series in audio. The kids are funny, the lines are funny, the plot is funny, it’s just freakin’ funny! There is a garage quickie that’s hot as a hot thing ever could be hot! And there’s a smidgey bit of the feels too. This baby is the full package!
Mackenzie has THE most amazing comedic timing and such a sarcastic tone. I love her and she’s perfect as Willa. Teddy is the scmexy Shane and he also had me in stitches. This comedy duo are a force to be reckoned with.
Kayley can do no wrong when it comes to putting a smile on my face and making me laugh so hard.
I just LOVE Kayley Loring, she never ever disappoints me,her stories ALWAYS make me so happy and cheer me up.No matter how I am feeling I come away with a light warm feeling inside.
Sleeper is such a delight to read Shane and Willa’s romance spans through years of adoration by Willa towards Shane who is Willa’s brothers best friend. But now all grown up and needing a job to help launch her perfume buisness, she finds herself hired to take care of Shane’s twins.
Insomniac Shane is divorced shares custody of his 5 year old twins with his ex wife who is working away out of the country and so Shane has the kids for a few months until she returns.
But every Nanny he hires seems to leave him in the lurch, until his best friend suggests his sister Willa needs a job and he should hire her.
Willa is not a kid anymore she is all woman and Shane is totally attracted to her,and the feeling is mutual….So keeping a professional relationship proves to be very, very difficult.
I thoroughly loved and enjoyed this book ,it is such a funny, pleasurable read with great characters and an entertaining storyline,I highly recommend this book.
5 fabulous Stars.
I’m so happy I read this.
This is my first by this author and I totally enjoyed it. It was fun-filled and it also made my heart skip on several occasions.
I’m definitely checking out more books by this author
This is a nice listen! I enjoyed a lot of different things about it. Willa’s job or aspiring job is so different from what I have read before. Her mention of different layers of scents was wonderful as was her love of smells and essential oils. Shane just seems off. For a big star he sure didn’t get recognized much. I loved his daily sleep journal writings. The best thing about him are his two adorable children. I loved their antics and how involved in the story they were. The last thing is the connection between Willa and Shane…that first kiss was sexy as heck!
I did listen to this on audio and Teddy and Mackenzie did a super job. I could listen to Teddy read the newspaper ;).
I didn’t like this story. The hero was getting on my nerves..
Really nice. The book was entertaining. It did not have a great plot though, just his problem to sleep and that she took the job to F* the guy. The chemistry between the characters was fine. The idea was fine, but it lacked a bit of action/fun/ drama….something
Truly a great low angst and low drama find!
A funny and sultry rom-com about a performer and a perfumer. Best friend’s sibling trope that was so addicting! I absolutely loved both Willa and Shane. They each had their own unique quirks and humor that worked so well together. It had minimal drama and lots of sexy scenes. A thoroughly good story from start to finish!
I listened to this book on audio and really enjoyed the narration by Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton. They brought these characters to life with their voices and infused them with so much personality and wit. I was laughing non stop at their ability to pull off one liners and jabs. Plus, Teddy can make you swoon during those hot scenes!
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review from Wildfire Marketing.
3.5 Stars
What do you get when you mix a celebrity, single dad with a quirky nanny who’s had a crush on him since she was a teenager? A fun and easy read, complete with adorable twins lending plenty of laughs.
I’m a sucker for single-parent stories, and this blurb sucked me in immediately. Add in some amazing narration & I was definitely hooked before I even started. But while I enjoyed it, I didn’t love it as much as I wanted to. The first half was great, but I felt like the rest of the story was a bit rushed and I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Willa & Shane.
I did enjoy the writing style, and will definitely be checking out more books by Kayley Loring in the future!
Funny, sweet and adorable! I loved this romance with the dorky perfumer and the sexy performer. Add in cute five-year old twins and it’s a total success!
Willa Todd met Shane Miller on the set of his Disney show “That’s so Wizard”. Willa’s brother Nico also starred in the show with Shane and brought her into the set. She was twelve, Nico and Shane were sixteen. There’s a hilarious scene where she didn’t know whether to kiss Shane on the cheek like she wanted or just shake hands, so she ended kissing his hand. He was gobsmacked, Nico was doubled up in laughter. At the moment, she was struck with an image that Shane was her soulmate. She kept her crush on him until years later when he married a co-star, Margo Quincey, and had children with her. She decided to forget about him and never mentioned him again and dedicated herself to her studies about perfumes.
“When I heard that he had gotten divorced, well…I was in France. I was just starting to mix things and make them smell the way that I wanted them to. But the heat of my body still emits activated molecules of Shane Miller where he touched me, twelve years later.”
Twelve years later, Willa is back in Hollywood, ready to launch her perfume company. She’s staying in her brother’s loft until she gets her own place. Meanwhile, Shane is having problems. His kids’ nanny quit her job and his ex-wife is filming a movie in Poland for the next few months. He took time off work to take care of the kids but he’s insomniac and can barely function. When Nico and Shane meet up for coffee and Nico hears about Shane’s problems, he offers Willa as a nanny, and our story is off and running.
The story is fun with a few heartbreaking moments with the kids. As five-year olds who want all their attention from their dad, they don’t take well to Shane’s attention to Willa so they act out. Then Shane suffers guilt feeling for taking attention from his kids in favor of the nanny, and Willa feels neglected in the equation.
I loved seeing how Shane started to get fascinated with Willa, as they interacted and exchanged jokes and witty banter. She enchanted his children and felt like a perfect partner for him. With Willa, his insomnia disappeared and he could sleep just fine, so long as she was with him. He was falling in love with her but he still needed to sort out his feelings as a father, as an actor; and Willa needed to feel like she was working on her career and not becoming an appendage to Shane’s life.
It was fun, it was messy, and it was enchanting; the characters lovable and the kids precious. I did have a couple moments where I would have liked to give Summer a good talking to, she was a little drama princess and got her way too much. She acted like a spoiled brat sometimes, then she would turn into a lovely affectionate kid. Fun!
Equally parts cute and sweet Sleeper is an adorable read! I found myself quickly wrapped up in all things Shane and Willa as soon as I picked it up. From unique insight into their brains with their sleep & scent diaries to often hilarious and always sweet interactions with Shane’s children this book had me doing a whole lot of happy sighing. On top of that sweet though you have some serious electricity and heat between Shane and Willa. I’m talking meat your kindle sizzling kind of heat here!
