I’m always happy when an author adds a quick novella into their series. It’s a great way of letting us visit with our favorite people in between the mass-market books. It’s also a great way to get a sample of the authors writing and their series.
I have to say that I really liked both Kimmy and Booker. They are both great series but unfortunately, poor Booker has his secrets.
It’s those secrets that will break poor Kimmy’s heart. I felt for both of them. If you forget about the secret for a minute and think about them you realize how great they are together They just work. Because they really like each other their relationship is almost perfect. I enjoy what they brought to the series.
Eventually, the secret comes out and breaks Kimmy’s heat but you realize that Booker didn’t mean to hurt her ever. He could have handled everything much better. They do work it all out and they have a great HEA. I’m so glad that I read this one. It doesn’t add a ton to the series but you’ll enjoy it nonetheless.
I love this series! The widows club ladies are a hoot! They try so hard to get couples together and live up to their underground name of the Sunshine Valley Matchmakers Club. The main characters in this book are definitely meant to be and it is wonderful to read their story.
Melinda Curtis does a great job of character development and I have very strong feelings toward the people in this book (and series). Most are wonderful people, one a bit challenged in the getting-along-with-people quality, but every story needs one of those. I enjoyed getting to know the town and the people a bit more in this novella 1.5 in this series. I hope there are more stories to come in the future! I have read all the books in this series, and recommend reading all of them, but they can be enjoyed and understood independently.
Melinda Curtis has a wonderful wit and way of writing that just makes my heart so happy when I read her stories. The characters are flawed, and realistic, and so fun to read about. Another excellent sweet romance.
“Sealed with a Kiss” by Melinda Curtis takes us back to Sunshine Valley and the matchmaking widows club.
This time the widows have their sights on teaming up sandwich maker Kimmy Easley and restaurant owner Booker Belmonte.
Kimmy has plans to own a food truck, taking her sandwiches out of the grocery deli to the streets. Booker’s plans include upgrading the family business, The Burger Shack, so his parents can retire.
What they need is a date to their friend’s wedding, and, to save themselves from the widows’ interference, Kimmy and Booker agree to pretend they’re a real couple.
What Kimmy doesn’t know is Booker has something he needs to tell her, yet he keeps putting off the inevitable, not wanting to ruin the friendship-turning-to-love that he’s felt for Kimmy for years.
In a similar, fun writing style that reminds me of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, Ms. Curtis pens a witty and delightful read.
