If Only is another emotional Christian romance from Dionne Grace. The characters – Justin and Lana – are so well written you feel like you are part of their journey. I am not going to give away any details or copy the blurb. I will just say that if you enjoy well written, emotional romances about God loving characters facing heart wrenching decisions, you do not want to miss this book.
This story shows two people starting off as friends with a lot of red flags showing up in their relationship. I don’t want to give away any details in the book but the characters are complex especially Justin as is their relationship. I disliked him at times throughout the story so I think that showed very good writing skills by the author to produce such an effect on me. I definitely want to read more books by her.
I received this paperback book from the author and this is my honest and unbiased review.
love this author and her books, i cant wait for the next one! i had so much planned for my day off and when i started reading” If only ” by Dionne Grace i couldn’t stop! see for yourselves its out of this world brilliant!
I cant shout enough about this book, its such a tear jerker …. I really loved it. my heart melted for Justin and Ashley they really were dealt a cruel card but the lord had plans for them all. I love Lana’s kind heart. This is a read i would definately highly recommend.
I really enjoyed reading this book, its a highly recommended read! i couldn’t put it down. Exciting! loved the characters
A punchy great book with an excellent story line, I feel I know the characters so well. I really felt for Justin, he had the whole world at his feet and then it all fell apart when he found out about his partner Ashley’s terrible illness. I loved how Justin and Lana met and their friendship grew. A really well written book, definitely worth reading.
Once again thumbs up to another creative and thrilling read from a talented author, Dionne Grace. An inspirational, emotional christian romance with a gripping storyline you won’t want to put down. Highly recommended!
I had a number of issues with this book. The main one being that I thought Justin was incredibly selfish. Everything was about him. He talked about his pain, anguish, and concern about Ashley, but it was all related to how he felt.
He lied by omission to Lana. Was he supposed to receive kudos for telling her they could only be friends, and giving her a piece of information about his current situation, not the entire explanation? They were well into a relationship (even if it was friend only) before he bothered to tell her the complete truth.
He asked a great deal of Lana. I felt that he was very manipulative. He put her into an extremely uncomfortable situation that was also all about him and what he was going through. Then to turn around and behave like he did for an ENTIRE year!! Inexcusable!
Maybe I am not Christian enough, spiritual enough, or forgiving enough. The fact that he was not completely honest with Lana from the moment he said they could only befriends did not sit well with me. The fact that he kept pushing himself into Ashley’s presence in spite of how she felt it what she need, or just that she had to keep asking him did not sit well with me.
I am not saying that Ashley was completely right in the decisions she made with regard to informing Justin. I do understand that she may not have felt any confidence in sharing with him based on the state of their relationship at the time.
Even the lack of time he initially spent with Caden, was all about him, the way he felt, what he needed. You are also given the sense at the beginning of the book that Ashley is a different type of person. Let’s not forget his moments of jealousy regarding Lana.
I thought the book was well written, but I did not like Justin’s character at all. It struck me that with all of Justin’s talk of God, prayer, and attending church, he didn’t seem to learn much while he was there. I will give it 3 stars because of the writing, but I just did not like it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received from the author.
