Rigley Montgomery Atkins is a mess.If he never has to make another decision for as long as he lives, he’d be fine with that.Life would be simpler. The pressure would be gone. The storms raging in his mind could settle. But that’s not possible.Rigger is a adult, and adults need to make decisions all the time.If only there was a solution. If only there was someone willing to take control and calm his … his demons. Someone who wouldn’t judge him or ridicule him.Someone who could love him exactly like he is. This is a 30k word novella. 100% standalone

Oh – Rigger is completely relatable to me! I felt very deeply for his struggles and I found an element of hurt/comfort in this book that spoke to me on a visceral level. Completely standalone if you haven’t read the other books, but an understanding of Krew is helpful to follow along with the dynamics.

Sweet, and sexy!!!
I loved the Fear series and this is the perfect little taster into a ‘minor’ fear. I could surprisingly relate to Rigger and his terror at making decisions. I feel that this fear/phobia was wonderfully written with the perfect balance of truth, and respect. As always Nicky has a way of creating stories that speak to you and invade your mind. I loved Rigger and his sassy ass!! He was such a colorful character hiding so much unease. I felt for his situation and loved Naël’s dominance and underlying desire to help Rigger with the chaos in his head. Their chemistry is hot but the core connection is what makes this story. I’m only extra comment is I wanted more LOL!!! I loved it!!

A vivid portrayal of a poisoned psyche; is Nael the perfect antidote?

I was impressed that Rigger’s dilemma got me so drawn into this short novella. His constant mental struggles and the family-driven trauma that caused them were so vividly recounted and his reluctance to discuss them believable but frustrating as I wanted him to confide in Nael. This young man needs professional help! I am ambivalent about Krew, his close friend. He did not really seem all that sympathetic at times. This was my first Nicky James story though, so there may be a backstory there from another book that I am missing.
I did not really get much of a connection with Nael, but found the story a soundly-written, worthwhile read for its insight into Rigger’s mindset and his reasons for gravitating to the sub lifestyle he found with Nael. I did feel it cut off a bit too soon; I would have liked at least an epilogue to zoom ahead into the future a bit and showcase how their relationship plan actually pans out.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I loved this! Rigger was totally adorable!
I love that Mrs. James isn’t done with her Trials of Fear series entirely. Rigger’s Decision is a short read, compared to her usual books.
We met Rigger in a few of the Fear books, he went head to head with Krew in Fearless. Now Rigger has his own issues and demanded that his story be told.
As always with Mrs. James’ books, it is well written, and the character development is perfect. Rigger’s issues are not hard core like her other Fear book, but it does touch a bit on the mental side of things.
If you’re looking for a book heavy on Dom/Sub lifestyle this is not it. There is a more a suggestion of dominance outside the bedroom.
Although part of her Trials of Fear series (sort of), it can be read as a standalone.
I can’t wait to read what Nicky James has in store for us next!!!
