Nick Smith is a man with a mission: find the place where he’d been held captive as a child and discover what happened to the kids he left behind. His memories are in flux, returned to him after being blocked for the past fourteen years, along with his ability to shift into his lion form. Nick is ready for answers. Instead, he finds a huge Viking of a man with flaming eyes and more power than Nick … Nick knew existed.
As a hellhound, Jedrek is often sent on missions that lead to nothing. It’s part of the gig. He’s a champion of the fire goddess, tasked with keeping the secret of the supernatural world safe. When he gets called to a house of horrors he’d not visited in years, the last thing Jedrek expects to find is an out of control alpha lion who brings to life feelings he’s never felt before.
The mysteries of Nick’s past collide with a powerful, evil force causing havoc in the supernatural world. Nick is convinced he can determine who is behind the current rash of dark magic–especially if he has the strength of a hellhound at his side. And if that hellhound is one he can’t keep his mind or hands off? Well, that suits the lion instincts roaring back to life just fine.

I really enjoyed this installment of the Hellhound Champions books and the larger Chosen One universe. It is a great example of why the books should be read in Macy Blake’s suggested reading order. Nick was a favorite character of mine before I started the book. He plays a big role in the Magical Mates series (which is fantastic!). I like him even more now that I know his backstory. He and Jedreck make a great pair. Because this is a fated mates story the relationship develops very quickly. This insta-love or insta-lust has never bothered me, but I know it bothers some. The conflict in this book is more internal as Nick tries to come to term with his past and present situation. As a result, there is less actual physical action. I highly recommend the entire Chosen On universe series of books.
I mean, what can I even say about this series that hasn’t been said before?
Jedrek and Nick were great characters. I loved their relationship, I loved seeing them trust each other more and more.
I’m so happy to see the world building continue to grow. Seeing all these different characters and mythical creatures come together is amazing.
I adore all of these characters, and hope to read many more books from this universe. The authors knocked this out of the park.
Fantastic world-building with compelling characters and lots of action. I really loved this story and how each book in this series, gives us more of the complex and interesting plot. The characters are unique and multi-faceted with emotion, passion and personalities. They are not cookie-cutter characters and i love that!
The story really drew you into the world, you were not an observer, you were there. I so enjoyed the creative nature of this series where a coven can be part of a pride. I love the background of the coven and the diverse characters living there. I love the image in my mind of a Nap Bell and will always grin and feel happy when i think of that idea.
I recommend reading this series in order, because the story-line continues to grow and build from book one. Each story is about a different pairing, however the story is all interrelated.
4.5 stars of fantasticness
I LOVE this series. From ridiculously hot men and the partners they’ve been gifted, individual character strength, a strong overall story that connects each couple and their stories, shifters, to the sweet and sexy of each relationship, there’s a whole lot to love about this world.
Honestly, the only reason this isn’t a full 5 stars is because I wanted more of Jed’s background. Up to this point he’s been the strong, silent, stoic one. But who is he? Who was he? Where did he come from? On the opposite side of the relationship we have Nick where we get a ton of background simply because of the preceding books in this and the other related series. What we also get is his motivation, struggles, and complete personality. Together they’re fantastic and extremely sexy, I just wish there were more Jed.
While each book has built on the overarching story, they’ve all had their unique points that enhance what we’re learning and attempting to overcome. And then there are the relationships themselves. All the characters have had a unique voice and set of circumstances so they feel genuine to the individual story. In this book there is a contributing author and that becomes quite noticeable when Nick’s voice changes and the writing surrounding him does as well. After the ritual there’s a distinct “Mary Calmes” feel to both the inner dialogue and to the descriptions. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s just a tone and voice that wasn’t the same up to this point. I love who Nick is and I do like his reaction and acceptance of everything, including his new role, it’s just a pretty dramatic change in feel for him as an individual.
I’m so, so excited to see where we’re going from here. When I first started reading this series I couldn’t really imagine each story building on the others in such a phenomenal way; that each one feels so right as a continuation, but also so excellent in the individual relationships featured on their own. All of these stories are/have gone onto my re-read shelf. I can’t wait for the next installment!
This was a great addition to the series, which just keeps getting better. There’s a whole lot going on in this book, mostly focused on the mystery of Mrs. Foote and the supernatural children she kept hostage, but there’s also some overlap with the Chosen One series. Aside from the overarching and intersecting storylines, there’s romance, too, of a sort. Nick is a combination of alpha maleness, stoicism, and childlike glee, and Jedrek is…. Well, Jedrek is in for the ride of his life. Thankfully, he takes us along!
(My only gripe with this author’s books is the proofreading. While all are well written, they suffer from typos and other annoying errors that detract from the overall reading experience. It’s not so egregious that I deduct stars for it, but I do wish someone would do a final pass through the books before they’re published.)

I gave this one a lower rating because it felt “forced” almost. I didn’t feel the need and connection as much as the others. Still a good filler book in the series but it was just that to me, filler.
*WARNING* contains explicit adult sexual m/m situations
Nick has been looking for them for the past 14 years. Nick is a delivery driver so he can cover more area and have the fund to do it. He finally finds with help from his dream and once there his search is interrupted by 2 people walking out of a flaming circle.
Jedrick has to go to the old farmhouse because someone crossed the wards and before he could close the portal, Cosmo slipped through with him. Jedrick was not prepared to fund another survivor who has an out of control lion.
I adore this series. There are so many different beings that come together to help these kids. Hellhounds are not the evil beings as they usual are, they are heros in this story. There is so much going on in this story that once I start reading, I can’t put it down. The plot line is interesting and entertaining. I hope I don’t have to wait long for the next one, this series just keeps getting better!
Holy smokes! This book was everything I hoped for! It took me a second to remember that Nick is Sawyer’s big brother, and once that clicked I got so excited! I was also so happy to find that Jedrek found his own mate! Their chemistry is fire!! I love the connection between the Hellhounds and The Chosen One series! I am so pumped for the next book in both of these series!
**Was given an ARC
This is the first time I have read a book by this author & I was pleasantly surprised at how well this action-packed MM hellhound romance was written. The plot is well-written & entertaining with a variety of well-developed characters that seem to land up in some unusual situations.
There is: a lion shifter with memories of a tortured childhood past (Nick), a hellhound on a mission who comes into contact with him (Jedrek), goddesses, witches, various kinds of shifters, hellhounds, drama, intrigue, twists & turns, mystery, magic, portals, action, danger, enemies, evil, violence, attractions, mates, playfulness, disagreements, compromises, confrontations, choices, surprises, steamy scenes & a satisfying epilogue.
What an amazing addition to this series! Every bit as good as the previous ones.
This is a great entry in the Chosen One universe. We finally get to learn about Sawyer’s brother Nick, and he is awesome! Nick starts out confused, unsure, and lonely. Once he meets Hellhound Jedrek and starts learning more about his own past and the world of magic that he now knows that he shares with his brothers, Nick begins to become the lion he was meant to be. I love Nick and his very lion-like ways. His protectiveness and bossiness over those he loves, his love of naps, and his disregard of propriety, all make him a stand out character I can’t get enough of. Jedrek is a fierce and loyal Hellhound who is bowled over by this alpha lion shifter who doesn’t play by anyone’s rules. These two together are sexy, heroic, loving, and hilarious. Their story provides some answers we’ve been waiting for, and it gives us more questions. I can’t wait to see what adventures Nick and Jed have in their future!
What’s not to love about a lion shifter and a hellhound! Nick and Jedrick are perfect together. I loved how they each felt that instant connection to the other. Their instincts telling them this is the one.
There are so many layers to this story. We get the mating/love story of Nick and Jedrick. We watch as they build a family/pride together, neither realizing that is what they are doing. They find their place in the worl with this family that they create.
While there is plenty of drama there is also so much humor. How can there not be when you have a lion who just wants to nap in the sun!
I love the Chosen One/Hellhound world and look forward to many more stories!
I am just in awe at this whole series and inter connecting books ans stories. I am mind boggled and the author wows me every time.
They are brilliant, the characters are brilliant, the whole setting and story is amazing! Love Love Love!
I would give this 10 stars if I could!
Give Him Hell by Macy Blake & Casey Drake is the third book in the paranormal seies, Hellhound Champions. NIck and Jedrick are, steaming hot, adorably sweet, hilarious and bad@$$. I love this Lion shifter and Hellhound. They are perfect addition to the other characters in the series. This story was fun, funny, and amazing. Cant wait for more.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
