Introducing The Time Police, the brand-new series by international bestselling author, Jodi Taylor – an irresistible spinoff from the much-loved Chronicles of St Mary’s series. A long time ago in the future, the secret of time travel became known to all. Unsurprisingly, the world nearly ended. There will always be idiots who want to change history.
Enter the Time Police. An all-powerful, international organisation tasked with keeping the timeline straight. At all costs.
Their success is legendary. The Time Wars are over. But now they must fight to save a very different future – their own.
This is the story of Jane, Luke and Matthew – the worst recruits in Time Police history. Or, very possibly, three young people who might change everything.
DOING TIME is a five-star read!:
‘I blooming well loved this book. Read start to finish in only a couple of sittings’ *****

Another winner from an author I love. The madcap adventures of the St Mary’s team are behind us – now we are in the Time Police, and the atmosphere is very different. Gone are the slapdash, here are the measured and carefully planned. But nothing really goes as planned, does it? When Max’s son decides to join the Time police, you can be sure that mayhem will follow. So strap yourself in and prepare for a fun ride through time. New charactes, but the same wonderful humor and zany plot. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!
Jodi Taylor is the author of the whimsical and entertaining St. Mary’s time travel series; this is a spin-off of sorts featuring the far-future Time Police, While fans of Taylor’s other series will understand what is going on and appreciate the change of pace, the first-time reader may be utterly baffled.
New Jodi Taylor series, or I should slightly different one than the St. Mary’s. This deals with the dreaded Time Police that have caused huge issues with their totalitarian approach to resolving time issues by basically dealing with rule breakers the old-fashioned way: shoot first and ask questions later…or not as the case may be. I’m rating a little higher than usual as I feel a three stars doesn’t reflect the entertainment value the series promises.
In Doing Time, the Time Police been reformed just the teensiest bit which is how they get the three misfits this book is about.
Jane whose “Ummm,” precedes every sentence she gets the nerve to say is fleeing from indentured servitude under her tartar of a grandmother.
Luke, the handsome, skirt-chasing arrogant son of an arrogant billionaire, who’s been shipped off to the Time Police to learn his lesson.
Mathew, son of Max and Leon, a Time Map whiz who is hair challenged.
Team Weird as they call themselves bungle through Time Police experiences with an incomplete team and budding working chemistry. Things change as they accomplish their missions in unapproved fashion and a femme fatale is thrown in their midst. There is time travel, a murder and a cover up.
All in entertaining if not impactful shenanigans that are helped by Zara Ramm’s amazing narration.
How much do I love Jodi Taylor? A Lot!! After the last St Mary’s book I wasn’t sure how much I would like the Time Police. But leave it to Jodi! I should trust her. Lol. I loved the book Matthew, Jane and Luke are great together! I loved everything about these three characters. The Time Police still have some jerks though. Lol.
Fun read. What else do you need?
Let me say upfront that I love the Chronicles of St Mary’s. This story is not a St Mary’s story. That does not mean it is not worth reading nor that it is not an enjoyable read. So don’t read this expecting St Mary’s. But perhaps if you keep an open mind, you may find another series you will enjoy.
A great experience; totally unexpected. I have girl crushes on Jane and Officer North. Such powerful, but relatable women. Excellent characters all around. It made me very happy to read this is the first in a spin off of the Chronicles of St. Mary: now I have the Chronicles to look forward to! Thank you Jodi Taylor!
Thank you for the opportunity to read this very entertaining novel
I enjoyed it very much
I’ll happily read anything Jodi Taylor writes. Her work is well-crafted, plotted, and peopled. I’ve read everything she has published and not a stinker in the lot.
This is the story of three recruits to the Time Police, who definitely don’t belong. The Time Police can travel through time and make sure the timeline is undisturbed (or corrected).
The three characters form a new team (since no or else will take them), which is unlike any other team before them. The book is wildly funny, with
Oh, yeah; I’m in! Doing Time is another smash hit by Jodi Taylor with fantastic characters, plots within plots, and her signature wry, witty, hilarious humor. Matthew, Jane, and Luke are new trainees in the Time Police. Thought of by others as complete losers and by themselves as Team Weird, the three have to figure out how to protect themselves from bullies, forge a real team, and develop a bit of self respect while learning how to become real Time Police officers. And guess what? There IS time travel!
Love this spin off of the St Mary’s Chronicles. Looking forward to more with these characters.
Loved the book, but for readers new to this author, I would suggest beginning with the Saint Mary’s series to gain familiarity with the characters.
