“We’ll never be done, you and I.” He pushed off her desk. Closed the distance between them with prowling steps, clenched fists, and oh, so much determination. “Too much unfinished business to ever call it over.” He stopped a few steps away from uncomfortably close. Braced his palm on the wall behind her head, forearm brushing the side of her throat. “‘Sides”—he licked his lips, glanced down her … lips, glanced down her shirt—“we never got our hate f**k, baby girl.”
Iris knows he’ll come.
He’ll come lookin’ for what she stole, what she refused to give up when everything went to hell.
Won’t find it, of course.
There’s nothing left but a pipe full o’the good stuff and the dregs of the past that refuse to die.

I had trouble finishing this book. I read another series by Myra Danvers and I loved it, but with this book I had some issues. It has a strong heroine and an intriguing plot. There’s drama and mystery. All in all, it has the makings of a great book but I just found it OK.
My biggest problem was with our heroine, Iris, she’s frigging exhausting!. She annoyed me so much I just wanted to kill her most of the time.
If you like space drama you can possibly put up with our heroine and read this book.
I give it 4 stars cause I like Myra Danvers work.
With words like these, Ms Danvers is going to turn me into a sci-fi convert! I don’t have enough words to say how fantastic this book is. It is smart and creative. Iris is beyond quirky-she borders on mad but she is a genius at her job. She’s also paranoid, cunning & ten steps ahead of everyone else. Big Evil, well, I am looking forward to knowing a lot more about him, and his history with Iris. Brilliantly creative story, crazily odd characters, and wonderfully descriptive writing.
This is a hard book to review. Not because it isn’t a great book, because believe me it is. I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t stop once I started which is always a good sign.
It is a “what did I just read” kinda book. If you are looking for romance with a dash of sci-fi then you have to look elsewhere. It is a sci-fi opera with a lot of rich details and characters you will not find in other books.
Iris is an amazing character. She is brilliant and spunky, but also a total mess and not the most stable person, but that makes her interesting. And she loves cats.
And then there are Big Evil and Daxx, both of them have their own agenda.
This book is action packed, but a healthy dose of humor and drama.
Loved it! The heroine was amazing and basically was a boss. Can’t wait for the next one!
I LOVE me a spicy space romp! And even better, I love me a book about a strong female protagonist who isn’t flawless, “perfect”, or afraid to break a nail. This is a great journey through the eyes of a crazed but hyper intelligent addict running from a past that catches up to her, even when she tries to kill him. I love the imagery, the technical nitty-gritty, and the real-world lingo accuracy.
Iris is an amazingly complex character with equal parts intelligence and snark. Myra has a way with characterisation that makes me want to learn everything about her characters immediately – what made them that way, what experiences have they had, what kind of crazy is coming next?? The slow drip-drip feeding of information throughout the book absolutely hooked me on Iris and Big Evil – and even the side-characters have depth and quirk.
I am really wrapped up in this book. But be warned – the cliffhanger at the end is intense. If you pick up this book, you will be signing yourself up to read the next installments, too (not that that’s a bad thing)!
What did I just read?! This book by Myra was another stay up all night turning the pages story. If you like science fiction and dark romance then read this book. These characters are raw, real and surprising. Myra has zoomed to the top of my favorite author list beside Addison Cain. The world building is very unique for this genre and sizzles. Highly recommend this book, or anything by Myra Danvers. Can’t wait on the story to continue!
Holy freakin’ AMAZEBALLS, Catwoman! I LERRRRVED this book, so much! The story caught me from the start and I lost a lot of sleep reading way past my bedtime because I just needed to know what came next! Iris is a BOSS. Crazy as a loon, but BOSS nonetheless. Her story is captivating. I want more! More background, more current, more future – just MORE! I am afraid to say much about the storyline for fear of spoilers. This book is part sci-fi, part soap opera, with a bit of dark romance and revenge plot thrown in. Think Star Trek meets Tomb Raider meets Harley Quinn and you might have some idea of what it is. This is probably the worst description of a book I’ve ever given. Just grab it and read it. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
second book from this author and her talent is not a fluke. another world created and the book takes a life on its own. very imaginative and realistic, the characters all have strong and different personalities, flaws and all. iris is one heck of a main character with her wit, smarts, and demented self. I love how everything meshes so well and the way they all talk match their backgrounds which are one of the things I love about her writing. she follows through very well.
funny, thrilling, suspense, and full of wonder. the way it ended screams for book two to be read.
Another amazing book from debut author Myra Danvers. I didn’t know it was possible to write such psychotic and depraved characters, and still make them likable, but she was up for the task.
This is a sci-fi story centered on opium addict Iris. She is seven kinds of messed up but also a genius at anything electronic and retribution. She has made a life of transporting cargo on the outer fringe of known space, while hiding from her past and being high as kite. That goes well until Big Evil shows up, and all goes to hell. Now they are forced to work together, all the while trying to get the upper hand. Big Evil is just as crazy and calculating as Iris, but together they are a force to be reckoned with.
You get a lot of little hints of Iris’s and Big Evil’s history and I really hope we will learn more in the next book. So if you’re into psychotic kickass heroines with an addiction to opiums and booby traps, this just might be the story you.
OMG I freaking loved this book. My only disappointment was when I got to the end and only because it was over and now I have to wait until the next book to get more of my Iris and Big Evil fix :). Great job Myra
I am not quite sure what I just read and if I can do it justice in a review, but I know that I certainly enjoyed it! I will start by saying that I normally prefer my sci-fi to be secondary to romance but this book was so awesome that the lack of romance didn’t take away from it. Iris/Fleur is probably the most messed up and yet surprisingly likable heroine I’ve encountered. This girl gets it done and kicks butt! I wasn’t quite clear on who is the main “hero” of the book but I found them both interesting while simultaneously wanting to give them a hard kick (especially one of them). There is a lot of action in this one so you really have to pay attention not to miss anything. I really loved the author’s sense of humor. It gave an otherwise brutal story a lighter tone. Definitely worth a read even if sci-fi is not normally your cup of tea!
This is a power ballad if there ever was one. Sci Fi and grittiness of romance converge for a delightful new series beginning. My favorite way to read a book is to go in blind and fly by the seat of my pants. There were some concerns on my end on one of the main protagonist’s preferred pasttime, but it was handled beautifully just like the reintegration of past and present of said heroine. I remain curious to see the characters fleshed out and more nuanced personalities come out to play in future books. There’s a substantial supporting cast and endless pleasure to be had in reading this book. You know a laugh is genuine when you end up snorting at yourself in the middle of the night as you’re reading. The author deftly keeps the reader on edge with whispered teasings of the protagonist’s history in a delicate balance between captivated intrigue and genuine enjoyment. This is a fun and addictive book.
To say Delirium is a page turner would be an understatement. I love how the author can take you to a place you’ve never been before and make you feel like you’ve lived there your whole life. She creates such vivid worlds unlike any I’ve seen. She takes time to flesh out characters and their world and this has to be the best part of her writing. To say Iris is a strong female character would be an injustice, she’s so much more. In Delirium, Iris is such a bad b*tch, you see her calculating, devious side but we see glimpses of a softer side as well. She’s feisty, smart, witty and independent, my type of girl. *swoons*
I can’t wait to learn more about Iris and especially Big Evil’s past. I found my self asking ‘just who is Big Evil?’ Judging from what’s already been revealed I’m in for a rollercoaster of emotions. Basically… I’m counting down the days to book 2. I recommend Delirium 10/10
This book was awesome from page one! Kept me drawn in and reading all the way to the end. Love all of the characters and their quirks, it’s so refreshing. Totally unique new world and I can’t wait for more! May be my favorite book so far this year.
I really liked this book.
The heroine is the best part.
I need the next book !!!
I love Iris/Fleur so much. Her intelligence, her cunning abilities, she is so strong , witty and five steps ahead of everyone.
A wonderful heroine. I’m so glad to read of a strong heroine that doesn’t let the H walk over her, that doesn’t become a puddle of nothing when he touches her or sweet talks to her.
The story is different, fast paced, with some mystery.
We get a little of her back story and I really want to know how she came to be who she is.
