One woman’s secret journal completely changes her marriage in this hilarious and biting memoir–the inspiration for the Netflix Original Series SEX/LIFE.
School psychologists aren’t supposed to write books about sex. Doing so would be considered “unethical” and “a fireable offense.” Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit.
Sex/Life: 44 Chapters About 4 Men is a laugh-out-loud funny …
Sex/Life: 44 Chapters About 4 Men is a laugh-out-loud funny and brutally honest look at female sexuality, as told through the razor-sharp lens of domesticated bad girl BB Easton. No one and nothing is off limits as BB revisits the ex-boyfriends–a sadistic tattoo artist, a punk rock parolee, and a heavy metal bass player–that led her to finally find true love with a straight-laced, drop-dead-gorgeous . . . accountant.
After settling down and starting a family with her perfectly vanilla “husbot,” Ken, BB finds herself longing for the reckless passion she had in her youth. She begins to write about these escapades in a secret journal, just for fun, but when Ken starts to act out the words on the pages, BB realizes that she might have stumbled upon the holy grail of behavior modification techniques.
The psychological dance that ensues is nothing short of hilarious as BB wields her journal like a blowtorch, trying to light a fire under her cold, distant partner. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but in the end, BB learns that the man she was trying so hard to change was perfect for her all along.

What can I say? I absolutely adored this book! After watching the Netflix show, I was very intrigued to read the book that inspired it. It did not disappoint – I definitely preferred it to the show because BB’s exploits were hilarious at times. I found this incredibly relatable and would definitely recommend.
I loved reading this book. BB Easton had me in stitches. This is a must read!!
This is my first book by B.B. Easton. I enjoyed the writing and the mixture of flashbacks with present day. I found the transitions to be smooth and B.B. Easton made it seem as if I was talking to a friend as they share their struggles and past.
I actually started reading this series after watching the new Netflix tv show Sex/Life. They did a really great job with the show, but it is very different. The book is written like a diary. You have one diary that the husband knows about and one that he does not. It is fantastic how the two journals are very different. She paints a person one way for the husband to see, and then tells you what that person was really like in the not known about journal. The book is full of laughs and craziness. This is definitely worth the read to get a taste of what the life of B.B. was like (parts real and parts fake).
Well, this was fun! When I saw this book, I knew that I would have to give it a try. I found it to be a great escape for just a bit. I found myself chuckling every once in a while and I related to the events in the book more often than I would care to admit. I am so glad that I decided to take a chance with this book.
The book is told through a series of journal entries. When BB realizes that her husband Ken has read her journal, she decides to embellish some of the events to help encourage Ken to step up his game. She starts a second journal that chronicles the events going on with Ken and that tell us what really happened. We get to see 4 of the relationships that have shaped BB’s life. Knight, who she dated in high school, was kind of scary but sweet to BB at times until he wasn’t. Next up is Harley who has some strange tattoos and sometimes seemed clueless. Hans was a bass player who was smitten with BB. Then she met Ken, who didn’t seem to be her type until she really got to know him. Now she just needs to get her accountant husband to bring some of the wildness from her past into their relationship.
This was a nice light read. A straightforward conversation between BB and her husband might have been able to achieve the same results but it probably wouldn’t have been as much fun. I worked my way through the book quite quickly and had a smile on my face the whole time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun quick read. I don’t think that I will read any further in this series but I would check out more books by this author in the future.
I received a review copy of this book from Forever.
Right now I’m filtering through my high school experiences in rapid succession, eating up all the ’90s references and sexual teen experiences from this book and thinking…yup. Loved Eastons fun, energetic and sometimes manic, writing style. She told a story without TELLING it to me. I FELT, every loserish guy who stalked her, intimidated her, worshipped her and betrayed her. Most of all, throughout the entire book, I FELT how much she adored and loved her husband. This was such a fun read.
Now, this is a review for the book which I read after watching the Netflix series. Book and series, vastly different but little pieces here and there, weave the two together. I will say that I really liked the Netflix series and was like BRAD, Heck Ya. In fantasy land, I want a guy like Brad to pursue me, I mean how romantic is that? After reading the book I was like KEN EASTON, you sly dog you with your stoic husbot ways, you stole my heart.
BB, you stole my heart in so many ways with your story and I will remember this book for a long time.
Fantastic read, love Easton’s way with words! I found the main character is easy to relate to, especially as a mother with young kids.
When I saw that one of my top 5 authors endorsed this one, I knew it was going to the top of my must read list! And, a must read, it was! As soon as I got it, I sat down to read it. Let me tell you, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT for any reason drink any liquids while reading this book! If you do, you risk spraying every drop out of your nose!
I’m not a big memoir reader, but this one…..this one just called to me. The glossary alone was enough to hook me! Once I hit the first chapter and read about the “husbot”…..that was it for me. Hook. Line. Sinker. I was a goner and I laughed ridiculously loud while reading this one. I loved the way BB penned out her life story.
Easton’s memoir is interesting and awesomely penned. I loved turning the pages and finding something new and laugh-out-loud worthy. Easton is a fantastic author, and made her memoir read like a well chiseled fiction novel. Definitely a new favorite read and highly worthy of all the 5 stars!

With the show starting soon on Netflix, I of course had to listen to this book. First off, I’m definitely Team Ken! I don’t know if any of this is actually true or not, but it’s fantastic either way. It’s written in such a witty way that you can’t help but be easily intrigued and invested. BB, if this is really you, I’m so sorry – but I found the character to be selfish and almost narcissistic at times. But by the end, I got it. I pointed to my phone (audiobook) and said “I get you, girl. I get you.” BB, you go girl! I think you (or the character) were a product of your upbringing. And honestly, who doesn’t love a bad boy that needs to be saved. But Ken. Oh, dear sweet, innocent, reliable Ken. He is absolutely perfect. I can see that he is the yang to your yin and keeps you grounded. You brought out his adventurous side, and the human within the husbot. You made him realize there’s more to life. The narrator was phenomenal. Ramona Master perfectly embodies BB’s character. She delivered this story so great that it was hard for me to put it down! This was such a fun and sexy listen. Very entertaining, refreshing, and unforgettable!
5 Team-Ken Stars!

I have to say that this was one of the most unique reads I have had in a long while. It was scorching sexy, emotional, funny and a little awe inspiring. BB’s tales with these four men were indescribable. I had a pretty interesting youth but her stories make mine look like elementary school! I absolutely loved all she did to bring Ken out of his shell. Fist bump!
I am anxiously awaiting the Netflix version of this book and these stories. Now I need to dive into the individual stories
Why the hell I’ve waited so long to read this book? I mean, I know BB Easton writes amazing books, but this is not just any book, no, this my friends is an experience that must be read, preferably alone .
Yes, this book is steamy as hell and probably not for everyone, but holly shit, this is her journal about her own life and I don’t care if that’s true or not because I absolutely love this hilarious, steamy and OMG! I have never laugh so much reading a book in my life, story.
The story starts with desperation and a good, but a little crazy best friend (she is not really crazy, just to scream funny, like BB).
This unbelievable fascinating and exciting book tells the story of BB from the age of 15 until “now” and the 4 men that strongly influenced her view on love life and relationships. Youll read about her teenage years and antics, but mostly about her search for love.
But in reality it’s all only about the fourth man, her husband Ken.
I can’t give you more without spoiling this amazing book, so I can only give you the recommendation. READ THIS BOOK! It’s a must read for all romance lovers.
Trust me, you’ll love it
Loved this! It was so refreshingly different…and funny and honest and sarcastic and insightful and beautiful and swoony and just plain awesome. BB is a natural storyteller and I loved the way she used this talent, combined with her psychology knowledge to spice up and revive her marriage. Can’t wait to see the Netflix adaptation, but in the meantime, I’m off to read Suit…I need to know how she first nabbed her Ken doll.

I don’t know about you guys but I cannot WAIT to have this book be made into the show! The book was obviously AH-MAZ-ING and the show is going to bring it tiny so many other peoples homes that I hope they all go and buy the book!
This was a memoir that as totally not written like one. I fell into the story and it felt more like sitting dow for a chat and getting lost in the memories we can all kind of relate to. We have all had (or most of us have had) THAT ex. The one you can totally write a book about.
This is that book.
This book had me in stitches. I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time and I loved eery second of it. You totally don’t feel like you are reading a memoir while you re reading it. Its a novel and it is fantastic.
Att he end fo the day this is a romance with yummy sex and a great story. Perfect for a girls night in reading!
I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book! I was hooked from the very beginning! I didn’t want to put it down. This was a rollercoaster of a ride…in a good way. I found myself laughing, shocked and agreeing with so many parts! I even learned a few things! I would most definitely be recommending this book to others.
H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S. There’s no other word for it. You’ll be laughing from start to finish with this one. BB has one of the most unique and entertaining voices I’ve come across in a long time, and (to put it extremely mildly) there was never a full moment in 44 Chapters.
Humor and emotions
The tone is a little raw and humorous, but at the same time it goes very well with the character of BB Easton: herself. From the start, I loved the defeatist side of BB’s choice for her husband “Ken” and her desire not to let go of this man who seems perfect but who is sorely lacking in impulsiveness, creativity and that she loves so much. We follow her through all her influences from rebel punk to psychologist in a school.
There is a lot of humor but also a moving end, with also a little scary passages in particular with Knight.
It is an introspection on her past life to advance her present life, with a husband in the end very mysterious whose behavior she will try to modify when she realizes that he reads her diary in her computer while she recounts her past relationships before him.
I had a great time and the story is just as much about our life as it is when the author thinks about her life, her relationships, her relationship expectations that she may never can have.
***4 Stars***
This was a fun read, a little crazy at times, but fun and endearing all at the same time.
I gotta say, BB’s way of getting her husbot’s attention (after realizing she actually had it) was a lot of fun to witness, and read. But what I truly liked was how said husbot picked up the gauntlet without doing a major overhaul of himself, he simply tweaked things a bit.
I know this book has been out for a while and one I’ve wanted to read, but just never seemed to have the time until now, and I really enjoyed it. But then again it is right up my alley when it comes to my fascination with how people will react to things that are thrown in their path and what they choose to do with them. As this is a prequel of sorts, I will definitely be checking out the rest of the books in the series so I can dig deeper into many of the characters we met here.

This is one of those books that I enjoyed quite a bit, but it may not be for everyone. It’s less story and more memoir/journal, so if that’s not your thing, this likely isn’t for you. As the title says, it’s 44 chapters about 4 men and it tells the tale of what happens when the authors marriage ends up getting a little, let’s say, stale in the bedroom.
BB Easton takes us through the relationships she has had with the four men in her life starting back in high school because there are certain things she would love out of the relationship she has with her husband, Ken. She loves her husband and has two adorable kids with him and they are really happy, but there are just things she wishes her husband, or husbot, as she calls him, would do.
She writes a journal and when Ken ends up reading the entries in the journal, things begin to take a turn and they get a whole lot hotter. When she begins to embellish what happened in her past relationships in order to help her cause along, not only does Ken take the bait, but reading the entries is enjoyable and almost like she’s talking to a friend, which makes them hilarious. Her strait-laced, accountant husband begins to take a more active role in their love life, which thrills BB.
This book is so well written and is very entertaining. I enjoyed the stories and shenanigans that she got into with her previous boyfriends and how her life with Ken evolved. Easton’s way of writing is wonderful and as I mentioned, it almost felt like she was talking to a friend, which made this a very fun to read. I look forward to reading more works by her in the future!
It has been a long time since I have laughed so hard while reading a book. From the very first page I was hooked and I DEVOURED this book. I am kicking myself for taking so long to finally read it! The memoir style was new to me but I loved it. It was nice to read something different for a change.
The concept of a whole behind this book is truly fantastic. A woman, BB, revisits past relationships through a journal that her husbot, Ken, discovers. However, he doesn’t get upset, he learns from it. This changes their relationship for the better.
The story is 1000% relatable. The honesty, the realness. Everything. I am in love. This story really had me reflecting on my past relationships, how they shaped me and how they affect my current relationship. I was legit reading sections of the book out loud to my other half because they made me laugh or reminded me of him.
The journey 44 Chapters takes you on is one that will leave you thinking and laughing your face off. If you haven’t read this book yet I would highly recommend it. It is a MUST READ and I can’t wait to read the other books.
