Zoraida Grey and the Family Stones is a spellbinding gothic tale of witchy romance. Zoraida’s granny is dying, and Zoraida must travel from her home in Arkansas to their ancestral home in Scotland to steal back the family’s magic crystal—it’s the only thing that will save Granny. Zoraida has had some training in witchcraft, but her powers bloom when she’s invited to stay in Castle Logan, which is stuffed full with magical artifacts, angry ghosts, deceitful relatives, and two handsome but powerful brothers who are also witches. This is the first book in a series, and I’m looking forward to reading the next one!
Interesting and Engaging
Very intesting and engaging book. It’s full of spells, a dark foreboding castle, family history of long ago, a huge mystery and supence with more to come. I loved the. Writing and story and the complicated past merging into the current era. Well done.
Zoraida Grey is a woman on a mission: fly over to Scotland and retrieve a magic crystal in order to save her granny from death. Sure, the castle is haunted and belongs to family members she never knew existed. Easy peasy, right? Nothing is ever easy for Zoraida and before she can lay her hands on the crystal, she’s in the middle of a clan war, an ancient curse, and two sexy Scottish male witches. Zoraida must figure out a solution and fast because time is running out and Granny is dying for the crystal.
Zoraida Grey and the Family Stones is a humorous Scottish paranormal adventure I couldn’t put down. Zoraida is such a fun heroine and I connected with her right away. The adventure parts in Scotland are so well written, I closed my eyes and was transported there. With a big cast of characters, it might be easy to get lost but each one is detailed brilliantly. They leaped from the pages. The plot itself started out a bit slow but gained momentum once we landed in Scotland. The magical/paranormal elements were well-crafted and filled out the story. The ending had a cliffhanger. Normally, I don’t care for that type of ending but it gave me the incentive to start the next book in the series. If you’re a fan of gothic paranormal romance, you’ll love this book. If you’re looking to start a new paranormal romance series, pick up this book today. Fans of Ilona Andrews will also love Zoraida Grey and the Family Stones. Highly recommend!

My Rating: 5 stars
Granny sends her granddaughter, Zoraida, on a mission to collect a stone with magical healing abilities. After arriving in Scotland, Zoraida encounters two sexy warlocks and finds herself in the middle of family unrest, in a haunted castle. Zoraida is young and unaware of how powerful she really is, but rises to the challenge for her grandmother’s sake. She’s also very smart and pragmatic in the way she handles magic in different situations…I like that…it’s how I would deal with a bunch of temperamental witches. The story is intriguing with spells, ghosts, humor, a cat, and mystery all laced with hot romance. I enjoyed Zoraida’s humorous character along with her quirky sidekick, Zhu. Granny is another snarky character with a sassy retort for everything. The book is highly descriptive with great character development and moves along nicely. I found myself chuckling several times and look forward to the sequel. Fans of paranormal romance will love this book! I received a free copy of this book, but that in no way influenced my review.
A steamy suspenseful and imaginative tale involving witches and legends. The story bounces back and forth between the past and present as you follow the main character throughout the first part of her adventure. It ends with a cliff hanger that will leave you with many unanswered questions so be prepared that all will not be resolved in this one book. You will find some very intriguing characters and an interesting plot.
this book was really hard for me! she needs the crystals to help save her grand mother. only the place is haunted and guarded by witches. plus she lands herself right in the middle of a clan war.
What a great read the title made me laugh, I loved everything about it, the magic, the mystery, and the awesome characters.
What a fun and well thought out story! I really enjoyed the plot of this book but most of my love comes from the characters! I loved Zoraida and her level headedness; she was a real character, and one you would find in real life. I loved her spunk. Granny was another character that I couldn’t help but love; she might have stolen the book (or at least her scenes).
This book has just about everything: gemstones, witches, cats, sassy characters, humor, adventure, fun, ghosts, mystery, wonderful secondary characters, atmosphere… the list goes on and on.
Personally I don’t like books with too much past vs present in them as I get board or lost. This had that but I still could follow the story. I would have just much rather have preferred to stay in one with a few details from the other. I will say that the author nailed the transition between the states and Scotland. 3.5 stars.
I liked the story but for some reason I just couldn’t connect with the characters. The juxtaposition between Arkansas and Scotland was well done and I enjoyed how the author went back and forth between Zoraida ‘s childhood and the present.
