This novella was really helpful for me in terms of starting to understand this new world and it was a great background to have before starting the series. I am writing this review after I’ve read the rest of the book, so I can 100% confirm that it worked well for me. I think there are others who would say you can read this at a later moment in the series. There are some things that happen here that might spoil some things in the rest of the series. And with spoil I mean; that you will already have some information that slowly unravels in the rest of the series. I didn’t mind and found it really helpful, but it depends on what your own preferences. This novella definitely intrigued me enough to continue this series.

This book is the prequel Novella to one of my all time favorites series, Zodiac Academy. If you haven’t started this series, this book is a great place to start. It is not required to read before you start the main series, but you gain insight of the pivotal point in Darius & Lance’s (who are the two main men in the series) lives.
Seeing how these two ended up where they are at the start of Zodiac Academy Awakening helps you to better understand these two character’s attitudes. And this story might be helpful for later books as well.
Definitely a must read series!
“Zodiac Academy: Origins of an Academy Bully” is the prequel novella to the Supernatural Bullies & Beasts series co-authored by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. Told in Lance and Darius’ pov’s.
This novella takes place several years before book one. This novella does not have to be read prior to “Zodiac Academy: The Awakening”, but if you would like to know more about Lance and Darius’ relationship and life prior to the Academy then this is a great quick read with some insider info.
Darius Acrux the Heir to the Dragon Order, along with his fellow Heirs from the Celestial Court have gone through the Awakening and received their powers. Being an Heir allows them privileges like Awakening early, spending a week at the Zodiac Academy and learning their powers before attending.
Lance Orion has a dream to become a part of the Pitball League, with graduation in sight from the Zodiac Academy, that dream seems so close to becoming a reality. But events unfold and it doesn’t look like that is going to be in the cards for him.
This was such a great little read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Getting to see more about Lance and Darius’ “relationship” was wonderful. These guys have such a true friendship, that is surely needed with their families the lives that live.
Having read this makes me understand both Lance and Darius a little more.
This book was a short story introduction into the Zodiac Academy following the friendship between Lance and Darius, I really enjoyed this!
These authors seriously have some magical powers, I mean I DEVOURED this book, and it has been hard for me to get into paranormal books recently. That just goes to show how amazing these authors are, and that you should read EVERY. SINGLE. BOOK. they have ever written.
I loved the writing and their male characters are either assholes (which, yes please) or they are hilarious and “charming” (also, yes please). I loved Darius and Lance, and the crap that happens to the two of them is intense (eff Darius’ dad), but I know it is an integral part of who they are and their story.
All in all, this has got me so pumped to read the series, I am terrified (because of the authors’ devilish cliffhangers and emotional wreck that they love to bring their readers, still dying from KoA) but also excited, and I know that it will be an amazing wonderful crazy rollercoaster ride! Highly HIGHLY recommend you read this. You won’t regret it, trust me! 5/5 stars
I know this is book 0 but I highly recommend reading it after book 2. Book 2 raises questions for the girls about the men around them and I feel myself also being blind to it helped me connect with Tory and Darcy better. However it was great to get a “first hand account” on the event that is a major plot point in the series.
Wow this is a fantastic read. This read grabbed me right from the first page to the last. If your a fan of astroligy, the Supernatural and Magic as well as fast paced and a action packed read you will definitely love this read. This is way up there in reads. Epic scenes and as you read you can see in your minds eye as you read. I definitely recommend this read.

Trigger alert: book contains extreme bullying so if you are easily triggered, this is not for you. The hierarchy of this mystical academy is intense and severe and sadly, probably still mirrors true life standards for some to this day. Child abuse as well as domestic abuse still exists even though great steps have been taken towards trying to eliminate. A short read but an excellent start for this new series. The characters formed quickly and my heart went out to those that aimed for a destiny of their own choosing. The references towards the actual zodiac signs felt a bit thrown in there and of this start, really was not of any importance as yet. The writing is pristine by this author, covering a topic shunned. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
