Going home wasn’t part of his plan … dysfunctional homecoming. Only he wasn’t the only one hunting Katch.
Holly has been through a whirlwind of emotions in the last few years. But the good thing in all of this was the hope that Zane would finally come home again. They had a history to clear up and a future to forge … she hoped.
A call for help brings the injured shepherd to Holly’s doorstep, plus a hunter looking to finish what he started. All thoughts of a future with Zane are threatened now and forever as the hunter decides two-legged prey are just as good as four-legged ones.

Each of these stories are so different and yet have similarities. Zane returns to his home town to hunt down this missing K9. His very dysfunctional family are not welcoming, there is too much history to overcome easily. A lot of action in this one, who wants the dog dead and doesn’t care who is in the way? Romance lightens the mood making for a very entertaining read.
The best book yet so far in Dale Mayer’s K-9 Files series, Zane made my pulse race and my heart sigh! I loved every minute of this fast paced, sizzling read. There was lots of suspense and action and some incredibly tender moments.
A great story full of mystery, romance, hero dogs, hero veterans all mixed in with suspense and intrigue.
I highly recommend this book to everyone.
I have enjoyed many of this author’s early books, but this was so poorly done that although I kept trying to continue reading it, stopped after about 30%. If you are going to write about dogs, please do at least some minimum research first. The story line was irritating and the characters were completely superficial with nothing to distinguish them from anyone. I have nothing good to say about this shallow effort and am sorry I wasted my time on it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I absolutely loved this book. I sat down and couldn’t stop reading it. I love this series. It is such a heart-breaking one. Each book touching on one war-dog. There are twelve war-dogs that have gone missing in some way or another. A wounded vet is assigned to one dog to locate and see if the living conditions are such for an honored hero. What each dog has gone through after service to the country is just a tear-jerker. This one had my teary eyed a lot.
Zane is assigned to go to Maine and locate Katch. A large shepard mix who is suffering from PTSD. Unfortunately the dog was last to be in the company of a hunter. It is the worst place for a dog suffering from PTSD to be. Zane doesn’t want to go to Maine as he is from there. His ex-girlfriend, Holly married his baby brother after they broke up and he left for the military. His brother is dead now but Holly seemed to want to get back together with Zane and he isn’t exactly sure how he feels about being with her now.
Holly is a veterinarian. She has never stopped loving Zane but when they were younger, she couldn’t deal with Zane going into the military. Holly is no longer the selfish young girl that she was but she is afraid that Zane will leave again. These two come together to locate and help Katch. Unfortunately Katch is being hunted down and tortured. As the story goes on, reading the dual POV format really helps to understand Holly’s side of their history and how she is dealing with the situation of him being there and possibly leaving afterwards. I really needed this as I initially had a hard time in understanding her actions.
The events that go on throughout this story will keep you glued to your e-reader as well. The action starts right from the beginning and doesn’t stop. Just when you think it does, watch out. I highly recommend this to everyone. You really don’t have to read the prior stories but I would. Each one will tug on your heartstrings for both the dog and the man.

This is the third book in Dale Mayer’s new series, The K9 Files. Each book in the series is about completely different people in totally different settings, it is very possible to read these books in any order.
All of these books deal with K9 dogs who, at one time, were “War Dogs.”These dogs were originally trained by the military and were stationed in a war zone with its handler. However, when they retired, the War Dogs were shipped back to the US. Here they were given to people who would love them and treat them well.
It turns out that the Naval Commander has a list of a dozen War Dogs who have disappeared since they were sent stateside. As these dogs were veterans and heroes, the Navy wants them all found to make sure they are healthy and happy. He has enlisted the help of a company, run by a group of retired SEALS, to help him. In spite of these similarities, each book has an entirely different plot.
Zane, a retired SEAL, is not a professional trainer, but he loves dogs. Therefore, when he hears about the search for these dogs, he asks to be a part of it.
Zane is sent to Maine, his hometown, to look for Katch. He did not want to go back home because he was estranged from his family. His father is a drunk who hates Zane, his older brother is cold and distant, and his younger brother was dead. His former girlfriend, Angela, married his brother after they broke up. Kane has not spoken to her and his family in years.
The characters make a lot of mistakes, and their continual misunderstandings, continue to keep this group of people apart from each other. These problems, also, complicate the relationship of Zane and Angela, even though they still love each other.
Added to all of this is a wounded, abused War Dog named Katch, and Ms. Mayer creates a story that is an enthralling page-turner. In fact, there is enough adventure and intrigue in this book to keep the reader sitting on the edge of her seat for hours.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series!
This is the 3rd book in the series and I hope they keep coming. Action packed and I just love the attitudes towards the retired military dogs. Add in the fact that each guy gets his forever girl and you have a winner!

Zane is not thrilled about going home again but he’s been asked to check on a War Dog that was lost at the airport on his way to a new family. His best lead to locate the dog is his ex-girlfriend and his deceased brother’s widow. Angela helps him locate the dog, but they are both surprised when someone continues to try to hurt the dog and anyone who gets in his way. Can Zane and Angela escape the madman’s attempts at hurting them and find their way back to each other?
This new series is just so good! I love seeing heroes get to continue being who they are no matter the physical difficulties they must overcome. I love the idea of the dogs being rescued. I love any story with dogs but a story that grabs my interest is a bonus.

Zane is sent by Badger and the group to his hometown in Maine to check-up on Katch. What he finds is a hunter on a revenge mission and his ex-girlfriend who is a vet willing to help him and wanting to rekindle the flame. There is a lot of drama between Zane and his family which he ultimately has to learn to let go and move forward from. Holly is wonderful and supportive. Katch is a great dog suffering from his own issues and I was so happy to see Zane rush to defend him. Great story and great addition to the story. I volunteered to read this book on Booksprout.
Zane is tasked to find Ketch, the third K9 that has gone missing and needs to be found and to be sure he is OK. He ends up going back to his hometown, where his ex, Angela, his only love and a woman who married his brother, still lives. Since her husband’s death she has been hoping that Zane comes back to her and when he ends up looking for a dog, a dog that’s hurt and ends up being treated by a fellow vet, she’s hoping that Zane decides to stay this time, especially when she starts treating Ketch and the man who wants the dog dead will stop at nothing.
I’ll be honest, not my favorite by this author, I have loved every single one of her books but I couldn’t like Angela no matter how hard I tried. I couldn’t get over the fact that she married his brother, no matter what forces played in that part and how she wants Zane back with all that she is. If it was a friend, cousin or any other relation but a brother, I would have been OK with it…but a brother…nope. I did enjoy the suspense, some action and how strong and resilient Zane is considering the emotional and mental abuse he had/has to live with because of his brother but I couldn’t get over the brother part….but that’s my issue.

I really enjoyed this book! What a terrific new series of stand-alone books with an overarching narrative that connects all the stories. I love the premise with war dogs at the centre of a romantic suspense story. This particular instalment had a female character who wowed me, and I thought the chemistry was off the charts.
Received an advance copy from the author through Booksprout.
I’m really loving this series! Zane and Katch’s story is heartbreaking, both of them have been abused and I’m glad they found each other. I liked Holly and Zane together, but didn’t really like the fact that she married his brother, but understand it was part of the whole story line.
I tried to read this book from beginning to end without stopping because I enjoyed it so much. The characters and storyline pull you in and do not want to let go.

Yes this is another action-packed suspense romance read by Dale Mayer.
I really love that this one is packed with actions mix in with a hint of family affair and second chance romance. Oh yeah you will got all the feelings, frustrations, worries, and terrors. More K9’s actions too and as a dog lover, I’m very happy, and I love those little fights between old flames. It might be a bit rushed at the end with the hunter and with those family stuff and I wished there’s more sweet moments between Zane and Holly, it felt like they didn’t solved all their problems and I find it hard to connect with them, I found them a bit annoying sometimes, not my favorite characters, but still a sweet couple. So overall I really enjoyed it.
If you’re looking for suspense romance and you’re a dog lover, this is the book for you.

This is the third book in the K9 Files series. This book took me a little bit to get into. I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters so it took me a bit to get invested into their story. I did get invested in Ketch. That poor dog. There are some nasty people out there. Zane is going back home to work on a mission to make sure Fetch is having the best life. Zane isn’t going to be too happy when he finds out what’s been going on. Zane’s homecoming is everything, but wanted. He dreads it, but the fate Fetch is important. It irks me when people just say they’re just animals no they’re family. There are a few characters that have the they’re just animals mentality. Not a fan of the kinds of people for sure. I can tell you the set up for the next book has me very intrigued.
When Zane hears the titanium securities has a special assignment to find war dogs and make sure that they have a good home an are being taken care of.So he asks Badger about it Badger asks if he’s been part of the K9 team he says no because he could not train a dog and not get attached to it.He says he grew up around dogs he father trains them and he’s always been good with them..So Badger says the next dog in the list is Ketch,he was last seen in Maine.Zane asks if he can go anywhere but Maine,Badger asks why he tells him he doesn’t want to see his brothers widow because he’s still in love with her but then tells Badger she was his girlfriend first until he screwed up and broke up with her. That’s when he says you have to go to Maine .Either figure it out or get closure. When Zane finds the dog an it’s injured a vet friend of Angela’s saves Ketch. He is talking to Angela as they start talking about the past he tells her that it almost killed him when his dad told him that she’s been seeing his brother while he was away. She said he was hanging around but they were not seeing each other that way. They were only seeing each other as friends she never cheated on him an why had his dad said something like that. He tells her he’s sorry he should have talked to her about it.He also said he volunteer for the most dangerous missions hoping to get killed in action.Angela tells him she never stopped loving him. That when she married his brother she wasn’t in love with him but grew to love him but it wasn’t like the love they had. When someone breaks into the clinic of the vet taking care of Ketch,he goes but Angela insists on going too. When he says he should take Ketch, somewhere else.Angela says he’s got to be taken care of in a safe environment so they take him to Angela’s clinic they stay the night when Zane goes an wakes Angela up an tells her to lock herself in the office until he gets back. The twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes.
Let me preface by stating I am not a fan of second chances, mainly because they trot down the same path. Surprise, surprise, this one did not. There was some of it, but not a lot. Thank you Dale Mayer.
I was also a little unsure of the dog whisper (Kane) when he wasn’t a K-9 handler, but if we can adopt them then it should be no surprise he would be able to handle. This one made my heart hurt. For Ketch and for Zan. His dad is an A-hole and his big brother, sigh, just like some of the pigheaded people I know. The abuse on Ketch made me hitch a breath. Fortunately it is a HEA and I like that Angela decided to grab the bull by the horns and get everything out in the open, Kudos to strong enduring women. This series is about our hereos, four legged and two. They endure a lot for us at war and at home. Every single one deserves HEA. Thank you Dale Mayer, Booksprout for the opportunity to read Zane. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
Zane is working with the Titanium Group doing security, when he hears about locating missing War dogs, and he wants in. He’s not a trainer, but animals are drawn to him. So Badger sends him to Maine, the last place he wants to be. Holly is there! The ex girl friend, his deceased brothers wife. There is a lot of hurt there, so get the dog and get out is the plan. Funny thing about plans, they don’t always work out. The dog is located, but things are bad. Dale really is doing a wonderful job with these broken people and animals. This series is everything!

This is book 3 in the K-9 Files series and it features Zane and Holly. My favorite part of this entire book was a small snippet of conversation between them,
“Golden Girl,” he whispered. “What was your
favorite hobby growing up?”
…she whispered “Riding.”
“Then ride beautiful one. Just ride.”
*sigh*
The bare bones story line was absolutely amazing but there was WAY too much unnecessary filler story. His family is part of the unnecessary filler story and was so damn depressing it made me angry for him. I didn’t feel any happiness until the last 15% of the book. In my opinion, this book should have been much shorter. In spite of everything, I’m still looking forward to book 4.
