Hunter Caldwell has never encountered a challenge he can’t conquer. He’s built an impressive real estate business in New York, succeeding against all odds. He shatters every obstacle in his way…until now. He only has one option: asking for help the one woman who is off-limits…his best friend. It all starts as pretend… The first kiss is unplanned, but Josie surrenders to him instantly, driving him … instantly, driving him crazy. The second one is in front of his tight-knit family. They have to be convincing, but he’s not pretending at all. Her taste is addictive, the scent of her skin is intoxicating.
On their first night together, he barely stops his fingers from pushing down the straps of her dress…
Their second night is sexy as hell, intense and unforgettable.
How can he stop the lines from blurring when all that really matters now is Josie?

This was the first book I have read by Layla. You’re The One was a fun, fast paced, best friends to lovers romance. It was sexy, sweet, and swoonworthy! Layla created a wonderful friendship that transformed before my eyes!
Hunter was in need of a huge favor but one he couldn’t ask just anyone for. The only person he knew could help was Josie. But would what he needed cross too many lines?
Josie would do anything for Hunter, even live a lie. But what would happen when that lie started to become truth?
I could feel the love they had for each other – first as friends, then their hesitant approach to lovers, and finally their sweet, explosive connection! Talk about fireworks!! I look forward to reading more from Layla!!
Josie and Hunter have been best friends in New York for 15 years they know each other inside and out. When Hunter finds out that his Green Card is not being renewed he realizes the quickest fix is to find a wife. He turns to Josie for help and she would do anything to keep her best friend close to her, so they agree to get married.
They figure it will be easy to keep up the facade for a few years and then divorce and things go back to the way they were before. They both have always had a secret crush on one another but did not want to act on anything due to their friendship. As they progress with the marriage and trying to make it look convincing it is becoming increasingly hard to not cross the friendship line. Every touch and caress is making the chemistry and passion hard to refuse.
This was an excellent read and I cannot wait for more in this series.

I am fairly new to Layla Hagen’s book, but one thing I am finding is that she certainly knows how to pack the passion into a romance, and she did just that with You’re The One. I mean the name says it all.
Hunter and Josie have been best friends for 15 years, but they’ve been hiding their true feelings for each other the entire time. It’s only when Hunter’s been a green card, and these two come together and marry for convenience… Well, they both know it’s more than that, but they don’t know the other feels the same way. The chemistry between the two only intensifies for them but will these two open up about how they truly feel? And will this way green card really stick? Will it make it through the immigration laws? Or will they lose out on their happily ever after?
I loved this so much. I love best friend-to-lovers romance. The trope hits home for me in so many ways, so I found myself completely consumed by Hunter and Josie’s love story.
It was a feel-good, passionate, addictive and all-around romantic kind of read and I couldn’t help my heart from fluttering with these two, I couldn’t help but smile and laugh and even a few happy tears…
I am intrigued to see where the author goes with this series. I know I am along for the ride!

4 stars!
A beautifully sweet, swoony and romantic friends-to-lovers/marriage of convenience love story, this book swept me up in its swoon, and I fell in love with these characters and their gorgeous romance.
“No one would believe us, you know. That we’d marry.”
“That we’re suddenly in love? Why not? Would it be so unbelievable that I’ve fallen for you after so many years of friendship? That you’re the one?”
Hunter and Josie have been best friends since high school, and for 15 years they have been there through ups and downs and they know each other inside and out. When Hunter runs into immigration trouble and needs a wife quickly, it’s only natural that he turns to his bestie for help, and Josie, willing to do anything to help him and keep him in her day-to-day life, agrees to marry him. They figure it’s an easy transition for them to make, and after a few years they’ll divorce and their lives will go back to normal… except it doesn’t exactly work out that way.
“There were two sides to Hunter. One I know: my friend, my rock. The other: the man. Pure masculinity. Pure testosterone.”
OMG, I love the setup to this story! Hunter and Josie already have a bit of a crush on each other but they’ve never ever confessed it out loud, not wanting to ruin the best thing in their lives. But suddenly they’re all up in each other’s spaces 24/7 having to kiss and touch and gaze lovingly into each other’s eyes, and the chemistry becomes all too apparent and it’s both hot and hilarious watching them deal with the changes in their relationship.
“You’re avoiding looking at me. Is it because I saw you naked or because I sported a raging hard-on for you?”
I was reading with a tingling sense of anticipation waiting for all of that sexual tension to explode, and it doesn’t take too long for it all to become too much, and things suddenly become steamy as two best friends get to know each other in a whole new way.
“Fuck, Josie. Keep me in check, okay?” … “I can’t keep the lines from blurring. I don’t know how.”
It’s sexy and sweet, and they manage to maintain their playfulness, which I love, and it’s all so natural! It just seems to happen and I love that they just follow their hearts (and other parts) and just go with it. Understandably, there are issues for them to deal with as they navigate the new them, but it’s part of their journey and I thought it was beautifully written.
“I don’t know how to do this,” I admitted. “Be married to you and not want more than friendship.”
“You’re the most important person in my life, and I don’t want to screw this up.”
The drama is there (both outside of and within the relationship), but it’s minimal and it’s resolved quickly. And we get a beautiful love story that is full of passion and fun, and I loved watching these two come together.
“Things changed between us, Josie, and I like the way they are. I fucking love it. Being with you, sharing my life with you…it’s incredible.”
I was so in love with my wife I couldn’t even see straight.
This is the first book in a new series by this this author, and she establishes the family group really well, setting up the close bond between Hunter and the cousins he was raised with, and I’m so excited to read more about these characters.
I loved this one. 4 stars.
You’re The One was such a sweet friends to lovers story. I am a sucker for a good marriage of convenience book and this one nailed it. Josie and Hunter were such sweet characters and they really did have great chemistry. The two had been friends for so long that neither one wanted to jeopardize that friendship and so they always stayed away from anything romantic. However, when Hunter needs Josie’s help she knows she will do whatever he needs, even if it means getting married!
The two have the perfect plan, get married, stay that way for a few years and then divorce and go back to being best friends. However, things begin to get complicated when the two realize that keeping the line between friends and lovers isn’t going to be as easy at they thought.
This was a book that had me hooked from the start wondering how things were going to work out. I loved the story line, the characters and the hot amazing chemistry that they had. This is a must read book for sure!By Alisa
What a beautifully written, sweet and swoon worthy start to this new series from Layla Hagen.
Josie and Hunter have been best friends forever and when Hunter finds himself in a bind she is the only person he trusts enough to help him but will she turn her life upside down and say yes?
Josie and Hunter had a great combination of personalities and complimented each other perfectly. You’re the One also had some great secondary characters and I hope we hear more from them in the future.
I always get excited when Layla has a new series coming out cause I know it will be good. And You’re The One did not disappoint. It was a wonderful friends-to-lovers romance with great characters and a unique twist on the trope. I liked Josie and Hunter’s friendship. It was endearing how much they cared for each other. As the story and their friendship progresses, it is evident how there was an underlying love there and seeing it brought to the surface was magnificent. Josie and Hunter were just so good to each other and I loved them together. This was a fun, sweet, loving read. Layla’s books are always enjoyable easy reads. I can’t wait to see what she has coming next in this series.
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
You’re the One starts a new series by Layla Hagen. If you follow my reviews you know that I’ve reviewed quite a bit of Layla’s books so I couldn’t pass up on this new series!
Josie and Hunter have been best friends for 15 years. They’ve been thick as thieves and always there to help each other out . So when Hunter gets a letter his visa will not be renewed the next step for him is to see about getting a green card. The only way to get one of those the fastest is to get married to a US Citizen. Josie is a US Citizen.
The kicker for these two is that they’ve been attracted to one another for so long but neither said anything in order to preserve their friendship. Taking this step to insure Hunter stays in the US will be blurring those lines for sure.
This love story is sweet and endearing. You will be rooting for their success and hoping they’ll be able to move out of their own way to get that HEA!
With You’re The One, Layla Hagan has cemented herself as one of my favorite romance authors. Everytime I think she can’t top her last book, she introduces us to another set of characters who pull at your heartstrings and make you believe in true love. Josie and Hunter are best friends who have been denying their feelings for each other since they were kids. When fate steps in and forces them to confront how they really feel about each other, sparks fly. The chemistry between these two is red hot and does not disappoint. If you love swoon worthy romance and hot bachelors with a good heart, then You’re The One is the perfect read to add to your collection.
The next one by Layla Hagen is filled of friendship and a love so hot makes you wonder why it never happened before. We have Hunter, who is well at a crossroads and has to make a tough decision. The thing is that he has always been the strong one, always looking out for others but when it comes to his own life he has no idea what to do. Then we have the bestest friend Josie he has ever had and boy does she balance him out in every way. Layla Hagen sure made Josie the perfect woman for Hunter it is easy to see how they are perfect fo r each other right away. I loved that this whole book starts of with a friendship that has gone through so many ups and downs to the point where there is no beginning or end between these two. The chemistry Layla Hagen has with these two is hot and just beautiful when they see that the love has always been there. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
You’re the One by Layla Hagen is a fun friends to lovers romance with a fake relationship to boot. Hagen is a new to me author and I enjoyed her writing style!
Hunter and Josie are adorable. There is so much chemistry between them; they have been friends since high school. Hunter has an issue with his visa though and his solution is to get married. Who better to marry for a green card than his BFF? Also, Josie? She’s a lawyer.
I loved the set up of this plot. Overall, the story was fun and light. It’s perfect for readers who want something ‘easy’ on their emotions. Hunter and Josie are both really lovable characters. There is some light angst because they start falling for each other and are unsure if the feelings are reciprocated. Their families are nice secondary characters that help these two figure out their new life! There are some great swoon moments that I really appreciated as well. You’re the One is a delightful romance that will leave you with all the happy feels!
A sweet and warming love story with some hot chemistry! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Josie and Hunter are the friends from High School that never crossed the line……When Hunter needs someone he can trust to help him will these two finally cross the line that they both want to cross? These two are hot together and the chemistry is off the charts! I will not tell you more but the friends to lovers with a bit of convince added in for a twist! This book has all the feels! Layla Hagen is deficiently a one click with me!!!
Josie, a lawyer, has been best friends with Hunter since high school. She has no family in the city but claims Hunter’s aunt and cousins as her own as much as possible.
Hunter, who is in real estate, grew up in the US but was not born there. As an adult, his visa is not being renewed for some reason which leaves him in need of a green card or face deportation.
Josie and Hunter trying to navigate their friendship while pretending to be in love is extremely entertaining. Lines get blurred, and the chemistry between Josie and Hunter becomes harder to ignore. I am actually not sure how they ignored it for as long as they did. These two were made for one another. They have given their fake relationship an expiration date of 3 years, but as they spend more and more time together their relationship becomes more real.
Immigration services are not so easily convinced, however. Things start to get messy and their friendship/relationship is tested. If you are a fan of Layla Hagen, this has all the vibes of her other family series. If you are new, this is a great place to begin. This is a friends-to-lovers, fake marriage read.
Hunter and Josie are best friends, and when he needs help, she is the only one he trusts. No spoilers, this is a definite must read you will not be disappointed! This is a well written story which is sweet and entertaining with witty and flirty banter. I was hooked throughout and highly recommend for all.
I love how Layla Hagen writes a book! You’re the one is another page turner. And the start to another great series! Hunter and Josie give you all the feels. Best friends for 15 years when Hunter turns to Josie for help! He needs to her fake he his wife!
Wow- what a story! I fell in love with Josie and Hunter and the Winchesters! Layla Hagen always writes great families who make you laugh and appreciate what real supportive relationships look like!
Hunter and Josie go into their fake relationship with boundaries but do they really last…….. What I loved about this book was watching Josie and Hunter grow together and within themselves. As they admit their feeling for each other, how do they stay best friends who are always there for each other, yet fall in love? They chemistry is intense and as they get to happily ever after, I fell in love this great book that just makes you want more of them! I cannot want for more Winchesters to come!
“My skin sizzled everywhere he touched me… and everywhere he didn’t, as if my entire body was anticipating his touch- craving it.”
Layla Hagen is one of my favorite authors to read and she delivered on yet another feel good read. If there is one thing this author does well it’s sagas. This story is the start of a brand new series into the lives of the Winchester family. And if You’re The One is any indication I can already tell I’m going to love these characters just as much as her others! I was so excited to start reading this and boy did it deliver. Everything about this story was refreshing and sweet. From start to finish I was so obsessed with this book. It combined two of my absolute favorite troupes friends to lovers and fake marriage. Hunter and Josie was so perfect together. I simply could not get enough of these two and their flirty banter. The raw passion and friendship between these two was enough to make any women swoon. If I had any complaints it would be their story had to end. I could have read MORE from these characters. I certainly hope to see some tie ins with them in future books!
“I had no doubt that Hunter would know how to take care of me, no matter if he loved me slowly or f*cked me hard.”
Josie is one of those heroines you cant help but to instantly connect with. Something about her was just easy to love and relate too. I could easily see myself being friends with her in real life. She was fun, sassy and down to earth. When her bestfriend needed her help she sacrificed everything selflessly to help him. The amount of passion her character had is truly what made this story so great. Josie truly was the perfect fit for this story!
Hunter is hands down the perfect man. I want one. Where can I find him at? I have never swooned so much in my life. Almost every word out of his mouth had me melting. Hunter knew his assests and he wasn’t affraid to use them. He was full of smooth lines, while oozing just as much charm. Seriously, he had me wrapped around his finger in no time. I just want to say now that Hunter is MINE, I am so calling dibs!
“I think you want me to push and push until you have no choice but to give in.”
*4&1/2 STARS*
Well earned for a slow burn packed with plenty of laughs, love and emotion. I look forward to seeing what character the author has in store for us next.
I received a complimentary ARC – early release copy of this book in Kindle format from the author for review purposes.
This is a new series by the author about the Winchesters family, and this story stars their cousin Hunter and his best friend Josie. These two are in their thirties and met at age 15 at boarding school and have been besties for over 15 years. They live in NYC and Hunter is actually from England and runs a business in the USA but his Visa is not being granted in a years time.
His best friend Josie is a lawyer who is trying to make partner and she loves Hunter like he is family and if he is deported she will feel very lost so they come up with the idea of marriage.
These two are besties but have never even kissed, until they come up with this marriage plan and well from the first kiss, things get real and really fast. The world though wonders how you are friends with someone for 15 years and all of the sudden am in love and hitched.
I loved this story. Hunter is wonderful and he is all about Josie. Josie I loved at first. She is the more hesitant one in this relationship and I loved her character until something happens that changes her world.
If you want a romance with two besties who fall in love this is the story for you. It is a fun and romantic story and I cannot wait to read more books in the series.
Wow! What a way to start a series Layla! You’re The One is SUPER AMAZING!!! I’m still smiling from ear to ear thinking about Hunter and Josie, and it’s been a day since I’ve finished the book. I even wanted to go back and read it all over again just to relive the excitement, the thrills and the chills that electrified me while reading it. Friends to lovers has always been a favorite trope of mine, and this book aptly represents that genre. For me, friendship is the best foundation of love. The friendship that Hunter and Josie shared since they were teens is proof of my belief. I know it’s still too early to tell. But I feel that You’re The One will be on my top favorite list for 2020.
I LOVE the friendship that Hunter and Josie have. They knew and understood each other so well. They knew when one has a problem or was worrying about something. They knew when to cheer each other up, & knew their likes and dislikes. But most of all, they’re always ready to lend a helping hand. Just like what Josie did when she helped Hunter with his immigration problem. She still said “Yes” to Hunter despite the consequences. Consequences that would greatly impact not only her life, her job but most especially her heart too. A true friend through and through. Indeed, a kind of friend that we all need these days.
I was captivated instantly by this book. Hunter was just so lovable and adorable. I love the way he treated Josie. I love how he protected and cared for her ever since they were teenagers 15 years ago. I loved him even more now when he charmed his way into her heart. It may have been fake at first. But I knew that both of them already had feelings for each other even before the arrangement. It just took Hunter’s problem with immigration to finally make them admit their love for each other. My heart was bursting with excitement and I was smiling endlessly when they finally said “I love you”. Aaarrrggghhh I wanted to hug them both at that exact moment while asking them “Guys, what took you so long!?”
Then to Hunter, “Please hang on to Josie. Don’t ever let her go.” And to Josie, “Take care of your man. He’s one of a kind.”
Just like all of Layla’s books, I also fell in love with the secondary characters. Layla surely knows how to introduce us to all her characters and make us warm up to them already. Now I’m super excited to read the next book in this series because the Winchester’s were so easy to get attached to. Familial love is dominant in all of Layla’s books and that is what endears me to her stories.
Thank you so much Layla for the ARC. I had the best time falling in love with Hunter and Josie. You certainly know how to start a series with a BANG! I can’t wait to see who will be hit by Cupid’s arrow next. So what are you waiting guys? Grab a copy now and swoon, smile, laugh and fall in love like I did with this incredible book! Two thumbs up!
You’re The One is a classic example that best friends can have the best romantic relationship.
As friends, Hunter and Josie know each other well. When Hunter finds himself in a bit of a tight spot, Josie readily offers her help despite the legal implications. Their plan looks solid until they realise that there is so much more to their friendship. They start to learn new things about each other, and feelings run deep. Will they risk their friendship for a chance at a Happily Ever After?
This story is full of family love. The banters between Hunter and Josie make for a realistic and fun read, even when threats are looming.
I enjoyed every morcel of this story, and I am hoping to see them make an appearance in the next book. All the supporting characters show the promise of having their own captivating story. Hopefully, it would be Ryker, but I am sure that whoever is next, Layla will deliver as always.
I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Hunter and Josie are best friends since high school. Everyone can see the way they look at each other but each has blinders on about how they feel. Josie marries Hunter to help get his green card and their friendship changes. Love this one- Hunter is so romantic perfect guy. Great start to a new series. Loved their families too.
