Hunter Caldwell has never encountered a challenge he can’t conquer. He’s built an impressive real estate business in New York, succeeding against all odds. He shatters every obstacle in his way…until now. He only has one option: asking for help the one woman who is off-limits…his best friend. It all starts as pretend… The first kiss is unplanned, but Josie surrenders to him instantly, driving him … instantly, driving him crazy. The second one is in front of his tight-knit family. They have to be convincing, but he’s not pretending at all. Her taste is addictive, the scent of her skin is intoxicating.
On their first night together, he barely stops his fingers from pushing down the straps of her dress…
Their second night is sexy as hell, intense and unforgettable.
How can he stop the lines from blurring when all that really matters now is Josie?

Maybe I’m not in the right headspace for this one. I like the premise, but their lives are too perfect. I’m worried about money and making it right now. Josie could never work another day and they wouldn’t have to worry. Their problems just seemed so childish. And the extravagant vacations didn’t help. They didn’t really work out their problems and everything happened during the honeymoon phase. Everything was just so fake.
Too much taking the Lord’s name in vain for me to love it.
Can best friends find a HEA? When Hunter has his renewal on his visa rejected, best friend Josie volunteers to be his wife to get his green card. Turns out Josie has had a crush on Hunter since high school. Can these friends negotiate this new relationship?
It got a little repetitive after awhile. The immigration issue was interesting, but it was just strung out too much. Josie and Hunter were fun to root for.
I thought it would be a great story unfortunately all it really was a book of porn
I did really like this book. I thought about 4 stars because the use of the F- word but it wasn’t a super lot like some books but author needs to know not everyone talks like that. But other than that it was a great story. Josie and Hunter have been best friends for 15 years. They get along exceptionally well and do everything together. Hunter has built an impressive real estate business in New York and Josie is an attorney working for partner. Then disaster hits. He asked his best friend for a favor. It’s starts out as pretent BUT he can’t stop the lines from blurring when all that really matters is Josie. Great standalone with an HEA!!!
Love Layla Hager’s books. Always look forward to the next in the series
Layla Hagan is one of my favorite authors and this book is one of a series, and every one is great
I’m a Layla Hagen Fan! This is a very good Hagen story. I liked the characters. I liked the issue. I did have to look up the difference between a work visa and an immigrant green card. Work visa longer than 3 years can be extended, as character does repeatedly; but it doesn’t lead to a green card or permanent green card. You do have choice with green card to just stay green, but it limits amount of time you can be out of US. (Sorry, currently an issue among a couple of people I know) I decided to accept book’s premise and their questionable speed to marriage which had a negative impact.
So, accepting all that, this friends to lovers to happy marriage story was quite enjoyable. All that people normally do before marriage had to be worked through during marriage. Awards for them not being upfront with each other or themselves.
About 48% they start having sex …. and 1 session can take more than 3 pages of description. Later in the book the 3 pages happens more often. I skimmed because it didn’t advance the story. Even skimming it was repetitive.
I loved this couple from the beginning, Josie and Hunter had a comfortable friendship, they would do anything for each other. Including, marriage for Hunters green card. Little did they know marriage between the two best friends would completely alter their relationship.
The chemistry and sexual tension between Hunter and Josie was palpable, the green card marriage and close proximity only heightened that tension.
Hunter is the kind of man almost every woman dreams of….. tall, dark, handsome, generous, sentimental, caring….I could go on and on, but Josie deserves some credit too. Josie is fiercely protective of Hunter and once they change the dynamics of their relationship, you can’t help to pull for it to be a true love match.
Layla Hagen writes feel good books with little to no drama. I like to read about her family’s that she creates. In this series we are introduced to the Caldwell/Winchester family. Hunter is the cousin that is in need of a green card. In comes Josie, Hunter’s best friend from childhood. They decide to get married so he can stay in the country. A concept that has been done before, but I was hoping for more, I guess. More spark? More something.
I do find that it was a little boring in parts. I just wanted more. I have read her other books and they were very entertaining. I guess I just didn’t like the concept as much as I thought.
Marriage of convenience between two friends…. What could go wrong? Hunter and Josie have been friends since they meet in high school. When Hunter’s visa is not going to be renewed for the first time since he was child he faces having to go back to Britain until he can get it figured out. Being a lawyer Josie researches what his options are. The easiest one if to marry a citizen, however if it is believed to be a sham both parties could get into a lot of trouble.
I loved the connection between Hunter and Josie. Their banter made the chapters fly by, and before I knew it I had come to the end. Another great love story from Layla Hagen.
You’re The One by Layla Hagen is the first book in her Very Irresistible Bachelors series. A beautful story of best-friends to lovers and the delicate issues that arise when you risk moving your friendship to the next level. Hunter and Josie met as teenagers in private school and became friends after Hunter defended Josie and she decided they were besties. She is an integral part of his life and is deeply immersed in his weekly family events with his aunt and cousins. The story of their friends to lovers arc is well-paced and well-written. A slow-build that explores all the issues they face. Telling their family, the risk of losing their friendship, everything they face in addition to the risks of starting a new relationship. But the chemistry between them won’t be denied. Once Hunter decides to make Josie his, she really didn’t stand a chance. Told in dual POV, the story is a slow burn of two awesome people with wonderful and supportive families that take a risk and turn friendship into more. Loved it! Enjoy!
oh god. love the story and the chemistry between them perfect book .so sweet. Love gow she developed the story between them, and how i turns out, I couldn’t stop listening to it, so I highly recommend this one.
**Audiobook Review
4.5 STARS
I loved Josie and Hunter! what a sweet love story by the fabulous Layla Hagen! I adored every single word from the moment I started this. The friends to lovers trope is one of my favourites and then add in fake relationship and I had the perfect combination of two of my favourites. As they navigated their new relationship I was on the edge waiting to see how everything would work out. I also loved their chemistry. It was magnetic. Hunter was incredibly steamy and swoony in the bedroom. and the love and adoration they had for each other was just the sweetest. I loved their passion, their respect and strong emotion for one another. So BEAUTIFUL!
Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden are amazing story tellers! They do an incredible job with the narration. They bring the voices of Josie and Hunter to life with their animated voices. PERFECTION!

I absolutely loved this book. I read it on one sitting…could not put it down. It is not your typical friends to lovers. I laughed, got teary eyed, squirmed…I loved the friendship, respect, struggles and the glimpses of characters from other series. I can’t wait to see which bachelor falls next!
Another fantastic love story from Miss Layla Hagen. She has found the perfect combination of sweet, sexy and swoon that makes it hard not to fall in love with her characters and brand of story telling. Hunter and Josie’s story is not exception. This is a wonderful friends to lovers romance that keeps you rooting for their happily ever. Though at times you might find yourself wanting to reach through the pages and give them a shake since they are both hesitant to admit their feelings for one another. I know I did. Lol This also included a great cast of supporting characters that I would love to see get stories of their own someday.
I love a friends to lovers story almost as much as a second chance. You’re the One was absolutely a fun, sweet and sexy story and I can’t wait to see what else Layla has in store with this new series! Josie and Hunter were a great pair and I was rooting for them to find their way, to admit their feelings and just go for it. I loved the meddling of their family and friends as well. All in all this was totally enjoyable and another win from Layla Hagen for me.
I absolutely love to read books by Layla Hagen and this one was fantastic. It was sweet, swoon worthy and of course sexy. Right from the beginning I loved the characters and their chemistry. You’re the one, is one of the stories that just makes you feel good and you hate for the book to end.
I read and loved Layla Hagen’s other series about the Bennetts and the Connors, and one-clicked You’re The One the day it released. Hunter, a wealthy British businessman living in the US, and his best-friend Josie, are fun and fabulous together. I love how in sync they are with one another, how they have the same circle of friends and family, and how they genuinely enjoy each other’s company. There’s no fighting and he’s certainly not a jerk in anyway, and I really enjoyed watching their love story unfold.
Josie is a smart, successful attorney and decides to help her BFF by marrying him so he doesn’t get deported. Very illegal of course, but they’ve known each other half their lives and couldn’t dream of him being an ocean away. No surprise here, because this is a romance after all, in time they both develop feelings more than friendship for one another and their interactions are super steamy. Once they are intimate, there is no going back.
I loved their flirty banter and how possessive he was. Hunter was just perfect in my eyes. He was strong and sensitive, patient, and so very loving and giving. He let her know in no uncertain terms how he felt and that he wanted more than friendship. He was so very thoughtful with his special gifts and remembering every little thing she liked, including spending more time with her family and building her a reading nook. Swoon city on every page.
I did honestly feel it was a bit one-sided, and even though Josie loved Hunter, she was the one who kept repeating that there was a time-limit on their relationship as she wasn’t sure if his feelings were genuine. I wish she would have reciprocated in doing nice things for him such as surprise him with a gift, special dinner, back rub, or even just show up to his office with lunch one day.
Overall, I did love the writing, the build-up and their amazing chemistry. I enjoyed all the secondary characters and am excited for this new series to continue.
