Hunter Caldwell has never encountered a challenge he can’t conquer. He’s built an impressive real estate business in New York, succeeding against all odds. He shatters every obstacle in his way…until now. He only has one option: asking for help the one woman who is off-limits…his best friend. It all starts as pretend… The first kiss is unplanned, but Josie surrenders to him instantly, driving him … instantly, driving him crazy. The second one is in front of his tight-knit family. They have to be convincing, but he’s not pretending at all. Her taste is addictive, the scent of her skin is intoxicating.
On their first night together, he barely stops his fingers from pushing down the straps of her dress…
Their second night is sexy as hell, intense and unforgettable.
How can he stop the lines from blurring when all that really matters now is Josie?

A friends to lovers romance that I just adored! From the very beginning I knew I was going to love this read. This is my first read by this author. A slow, swoony burn that just made my heart ache. I flew through the pages of this one.
Hunter is a confident, strong businessman. He’s sure about his future with his work but doesn’t think too much about his future with his personal life. Not until something abruptly comes crashing in and makes him think twice. And his best friend may just be the key to finding all the answers.
Josie is strong, independent, and goal oriented. She’d do anything for her family and friends. But anything leads to finding out more about herself than she ever could have expected.
A must read!
I absolutely adored Hunter & Josie’s story! I love the best friends to lovers trope and in this case the fake marriage trope is added in too which always makes things interesting and fun. Of course these best friends didn’t stand a chance against the chemistry and attraction they’ve ignored for so many years. This book has all the good stuff I look for in a romance, it’s fun, flirty, sweet, super sexy/steamy and so romantic. I can always count on Layla Hagen to give me all the things!! I loved everything about Hunter and Josie’s story from start to finish and felt that their fake marriage only made their special bond they thought was just friendship so much stronger. I also enjoyed the other characters we meet in this book too so that is always a nice treat.
A sweet story between best friends who took the plunge into the deep end of the relationship pool that turned into a beautiful HEA!
Firmly in the best friend zone, Hunter and Josie hadn’t crossed the line in fifteen years. They shared everything with each other and never wanted to risk their friendship over the powerful feelings that falling into a relationship can involve, but when Hunter’s visa is about to be revoked it requires careful consideration on how much their friendship means and how far they will go for one another.
Weighing the pros and cons and what it could mean they jump into a quick engagement and then an even quicker marriage, all in the name of keeping Hunter in the country, but is that the only reason?
I enjoyed watching two friends fall in love and really discover their passion for loving each other beyond friendship in a new way. They had always shared everything with each other before, but now that they were in a new relationship with each other they didn’t have that to fall back on. So who becomes your best friend to vent to when you are now romantically involved with them? There was entire mountain of questions and consequences that they both had to overcome while dealing with their own feelings.
I really enjoyed this fresh insight to the friends-to-lovers story.
Layla Hagen is a relatively new author to me and I’m really struggling to understand why she hasn’t crossed my path before now because every book I have picked up has been beautifully written and extremely entertaining and I think I need to find some time to read her previous books.
You’re The One is book 1 in her new series and if this book is anything to go by she will have a hit series on her hands for sure. I was captivated from the first page and there was no putting down until I had read the final line and I still wanted more, a sure sign you are reading something special.
Hunter still holds his British citizenship, he has have lived in the US since childhood and he owns and runs a very successful business so he never felt the need to apply for US citizenship until the day his E2 Visa got refused…. Josie is one of his best friends, she is everything he could ever want in a woman but up until now friendship was enough, she a successful lawyer and a person who will help wherever she can but will she be prepared to do what is needed to keep her best friend in the country……
I also lived and owned a business in the US on an E2 Visa so I know how that works and this author got her facts spot on and maybe that help me relate to the story or maybe it’s just a great read. The chemistry this couple share is intense and scorching hot and I found myself loving them, this book ticked all my boxes and I’m sure it will tick yours as well so please one click this entertaining must read. Looking forward to what’s coming next in this series.

When it comes to family saga’s, Layla Hagen knows how to deliver!!
Layla is one of my favorite authors and I will read anything she writes. I always look forward to her books. You’re the One was no different….another family to fall in love with.
You’re the One is the first book in Layla’s newest series. This series will follow the Winchester family and their cousin Hunter. I thought this was an enjoyable read. This was fun, flirty, sexy and not filled with a whole lot of drama. This book is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow of the story worked well, but I did find that the story was slower in spots then I like.
My biggest complaint about the book was I felt the main part of the storyline was kind of glanced over. I don’t want to give anything away, but I felt that the reason for Hunter and Josie’s marriage was never really finished. Layla could’ve built onto that more and left out some of the other stuff. That will make sense once you read the book. Overall, even with that said, I did like this story and the characters. I would for sure recommend this book to all fans of a friends to lovers story.
This story follows Hunter and Josie’s story. Hunter and Josie have been best friends since high school (15 years to be exact). So when Hunter comes into some trouble, he leans on Josie for help. That help consists of them having to get married…but it’s all for show, right??? Faking a marriage seems easy, but what happens when feels and chemistry come into play?? Can these two turn something that started as pretend into something more?? What happens when helping out a friend has a negative impact on Josie’s life?? Can they get their HEA??
I loved getting to know Hunter’s family and all his cousins. I look forward to their books in the future. I hope we also get more of Josie and Hunter as time moves on for them.
If you are a fan of Layla’s books you won’t want to miss this newest series. Also if you like a friends to lovers story that isn’t overloaded with a lot of excess drama, then this is the book for you. Once you pick up a book by Layla Hagen you will be hooked and will want to read all of her books!!!!
I was looking forward to reading the start to Layla Hagen’s new series and she did a fantastic job with You’re the One. We know she can write some fantastic, steamy romance books and she doesn’t disappoint with this book. Hunter and Josie are best friends and they each secretly have romantic feelings for the other. When Hunter learns his Visa isn’t going to be renewed, he asks Josie to marry him with the understanding that after a respectable amount of time, they will get divorced. Of course, Josie says yes and then things get good. You will love these characters and the amazing chemistry they have. Do yourself a favor and grab this book and then look forward to reading more about Hunter’s cousins, Tess, Skye, Ryker, and Cole, in future books.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Good romance and sizzling chemistry. I love every book that pops out of this author’s fingers because the stories make me feel great. This new series is set in New York and introduces new characters who have captured my interest right away.
The couple? Best friends who ignite into explosive lovers when in the face of a legal threat. Their forever friendship is bullet-proof, so when Hunter asks for a special favour, Josie feels compelled to save him. And the passion is like a torrent of desire that follows in the wake of care.
One of the things I liked more is how playful and loving they are together. And the beautiful experiences they share while getting through the different stages of their secret plan. It’s a dream come true laced with the excitement of first touch and first kisses.
Romantic, honest, and it reflects so well the fears of two friends crossing boundaries and what it entails for their future. I really enjoyed the blissful parts where they slowly let their feelings bloom and their bodies express such intense need. They are so supportive to each other, it is swoony. And there are some bleak moments clouding their happiness in a believable way that takes up the romance ten notches. They learn to be a couple and friends at the same time. So touching
Hunter has a joint project with his cousins that is sophisticated, smart and commendable. I loved it because it’s also a perfect chance for the couple to show off their official status and general charm. Which reminds me of the fantastic dialogues filled with banter and happiness and cozy closeness. A wonderful romance in my opinion. And it makes me long for more stories in this new series!
What a great start to a new series by Layla! I can’t wait for more! 5 new shiny stars for this!
Meet Hunter, he’s a member of the Winchester family. He moved to New York from the UK with his parents when he was young, and he’s been here ever since!
He has his best friend, Josie, who moved to NY from Montana because she was offered a better education with a scholarship to a better school. She & Hunter have been friends since high school, when Hunter needs her help, she of course agrees to help him out.
Follow along as these two navigate all that comes their way! This is a great friends to lovers story you will not want to miss out on, not to mention the start of a new Layla Hagen series! What more could you want! Grab this one and enjoy!
You’re The One
Layla Hagen
Oohhh this was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020, and thankfully there wasn’t a long wait for it. For me You’re The One, was always going to have big shoes to fill after my favourite series’ The Bennett’s and The Conor’s, but BANG, first story in and this fantastic! ( like there was ever a doubt). Best friends. Fake marriage. Forever love!
This story introduced us to a new family, set in New York. Hunter Caldwell has loved in the stated from very early in his life, he’s made millions, recouped the bad name left by his father and is very well known and successful in the business world, but none of that helps when immigration refuses his entrepreneurial visa, meaning he had limited time to find away to get a green card.
Hunter and Josie Gallagher have been friends forever, she’s a great lawyer on the way to becoming partner at her law firm and the one hunter goes to when he’s in trouble , which would be now. Needing a wife, quickly Hunter asks Josie to help him, knowing her heart is desperately in love with him, but her head knows the trouble she could get in, goes ahead with it anyway.
All a rouse until feelings are felt, kisses are given and fake becomes real, Hunter and Josie will crawl into your heart as they did mine. There forever won’t be easy, but an alpha like hunter will melt everything from a cold heart to an iron fist.
Wonderful best friends to lover’s romance. Hunter is surprised when his Visa isn’t renewed after living in the US for so many years. Yes, he should have applied for his green card years ago but just kept putting it off. Now, to stay in the US, he will need to marry someone. Josie has been best friends with Hunter since they met in high school. As the new kid, Hunter defended her and made a lifelong friend. Having achieved her dream to be a lawyer, she looks for any and all options to help Hunter with his immigration issue but marriage is the quickest solution and she volunteers to be his bride. The challenges for two fiercely independent people to suddenly be married and sharing a life is full of all kinds of pitfalls. The biggest issue is immigration investigating their ‘quick’ wedding. As they spend more time together, can they really keep to a hands-off marriage? Or will their true feelings finally emerge for each other? I appreciated and enjoyed that this wasn’t easy for either of them. They both had fears and insecurities that they hadn’t revealed or acknowledged to deal with which gave this journey more depth and had my heart breaking at times. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
I adored this book! Layla Hagen was a new author to me, but from now on I will be in the lookout for her books, this story was simply breathtaking! I love best friends to lovers tropes! this one didn’t disappoint.
*Swoon* As Josie herself realised at some stage: nothing is better for a wife and husband than being best friends. Of course their story started 15 years ago and for all those years they have been only friends. Granted, he found her gorgeous and the feeling was mutual but they never shared it with each other and kept the feeling locked down for the sake of their friendship. But oh when they cross that boundary forced by the circumstances it’s game on!
I liked that this book showed two people who have flaws, who fear that they will not be able to manage their relationship accordingly, that they will lose each other but they had hope and were stubborn enough to try. And it served them right! It started all with a ruse for the family and friends: “i will tell them we’ve been friends for 15 years so of course I know she’s the one” and ended with actually her being the one for real <3
Layla Hagen once again starts of a new series with a bang. Another great family that the readers are going to instantly fall in love with. Best friends for 15 years Hunter and Josie have hidden their real feelings for each other and it is not until Hunter’s green card comes into play that the chemistry flys of the page. But can a marriage based on convenience get past the immigration board? From the very first chapter to the last page in the book I was captivated with the interactions between Hunter and Josie. With a perfect combination of friends to lovers romance and a story filled with laughter and love this is only the beginning. Cannot wait for more in the series!!
This romance is so sweet. My heart just melted. My absolute favorite from Layla Hagen. You jump right into the story from the start. I was completely immersed in the book from the very beginning.
Hunter is the absolute sweetest, most romantic, gorgeous, sexy character I’ve ever read. He was just waiting for the right person to come into his life.
Josie is his best friend. A beautiful, intelligent woman. Successful lawyer and all around good person.
Hunter is British but he has been in the country since he was four. Never worried about his visa until immigration decided not to renew it. He turns to Josie for help.
The chemistry between these characters is off the chart. I have no idea how they managed to be platonic friends for 15 years. The relationship sizzles off the pages.
This is the first book in Ms. Hagen’s next series and I am so excited to see what happens next.
