Another home run from Lucy!! I loved this story soo much, it has mystery, romance and ughh heart wrenching moments that you can’t not love! I was an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every second of it, I just couldn’t put it down cause the story sucks you in! I can’t wait to see what she brings us next!!
Lucy Scott Bryan does it again with another marvelous story. If you love romance, mystery and utterly heart stopp6then this your book. She yanked me right into the pages and I loved, cried, hated and possibly screamed no out loud scaring my poor husband. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.
A pretty face can hide an evil mind.
An engaging read with multiple “what the?” moments.
Rivalry, snobbery, scheming and romance are all interwoven through this story about the promises we make as children, young adults and adults, and the way it impacts lives as time goes by.
Follow Verginius, Hunter, Dom and their friends as they negotiate school, relationships and more.
I finished this book in one sitting and it was so good. You have Hunter and Verginius who lived next door to each other when they were kids. One day they do something crazy and then everything changes. You get a brief glimpse of what Hunter is like. Verginius had her life turned upside down and due to this, I think she has got some issues she can’t get past. It’s like she acts her age until something triggers her and she too loses her mental faculties. It is crushing to read about her in this state. My heart went out to her and prayed that she could get past it or become stronger. Does Hunter show back up in her life? Well, I can say that a storm is brewing and hopefully she will be able to handle the fallout. There are times where I am trying to read as fast a possible to find out what will happen and my heart was pumping cause I was scared for her. Crap this book is so good that when you get to the end your like what? It is a bit sad but a lot of happy moments too. Once you start you will not be able to put it down.
One promise made by two children (Gigi & Hunter) entwines them both together in each others lives even when things happen to try to keep them apart. Missed opportunities and things left unsaid by both of them get in the way of them finding happiness until fate brings them back into each others lives. For the first half of this book i struggled to work Hunter out. He was so hot & cold to Gigi. I couldnt work out why he was? Which in a way was a great way of keeping you guessing about his game was. I never truly worked that out until the last few chapters (loved that). I cant deny that from the beginning i really wanted Gigi & Hunter to get together. The way their story started was just too sweet for them not too. Such a great read
4.5 stars
This book will not be what you expect, and I really can’t explain why. I don’t think I’ve loved and hated the same characters so many times in a book. It’s a bit dark, a lot twisted and definitely one to read.
The story will seriously keep you hooked, you get little titbits of information, but never the full story and then it all starts coming together as you go through the book, and all the different parts start to make more sense.
Ginny, she was meek and mild but then headstrong and feisty, even for someone so young. I wanted to shake her by the shoulders but give her a big hug at the same time.
Hunter made me hate him for things he did but then I couldn’t help but love him too.
The ending is totally unexpected but completely suited to the story.
You Promised Me was amazing! It sucked me I’m right from the begging and honestly I couldn’t stop until I finished. There are so many ups and downs, twists and turns, and heartache in this book. It really was amazing to read. This author just keeps getting better and better with every book I read. I need more.
You Promised Me was an absolutely incredible read! Gigi is such a magnificent FMC that you grow to admire more and more as the chapters go on. She’s had a hard life but by the end of the book you see what a phenomenal and strong woman her past has shaped her into! As for Hunter… well I’m going to be honest. There were multiple times where I wanted hit him upside the head and scream “what is your problem!” at him. I sadly never did fall in love with him, but surprisingly my dislike for him didn’t impact my enjoyment of You Promised Me! The other side characters and Gigi more than made up for what I felt were his shortcomings! Would love to see a short story spin off of Caleb in the future!
You ever read a book and you need to either put it or yourself in a time out? You Promised Me gave me one of those reading experiences. Several times I was tempted to put my kindle in a corner and tell it “Now you sit here and think about what you’ve done!” I’m completely serious too.
You Promised Me is a contemporary romance, yet in true Lucy Scott Bryan fashion, it is as dark and twisted as her other books (*side eyes* Door: Book 1 I’m looking right at you! ) This story goes from childhood sweethearts to enemies-to-lovers and a whole host of events in between. Did I mention that this is also a romantic suspense? It most definitely is. I never in a million years could have predicted the ending. I’m so glad I took this book out of time out and finished it. It wasn’t at all what I expected, but I can promise you, this is one ride you’re gonna want to go on!
