From New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels comes a heartbreakingly beautiful standalone story about letting love in.
I’m losing myself trying to save everyone else…
As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life–love is a luxury I can’t afford.
It isn’t until Dr. Westin Grant breaks … until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I’m brave enough to risk my heart.
When who I was and who I’ve tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.
In a single moment, everything I’ve worked for is jeopardized. My integrity, my career, and even my relationship with Westin.
He loved me once, I just hope he can love me always …

I wasn’t prepared for the amount of heartbreaking beauty this book has to offer. Corinne Michaels’ has poured her heart and soul into this book and you can certainly feel it when you read it. The story brings to life what it really means to make choices and the consequences those choices sometimes have.
I was blown away by the raw emotion this book gives. It’s definitely Corinne Michaels at her best. You Loved Me Once is a must read!!
You Loved Me Once is a truly heartfelt story that grabbed me so hard, kept me guessing and in the end I can say it was one emotionally charged story that I couldn’t put down!
I had the added pleasure of listening to the audio version of this book and the narrators definitely added to my enjoyment of this story!
Corinne did it again with another amazing story with ALL THE FEELS!! There are moments you truly feel for the characters as they struggle with life.
Serenity is an awesome character to read! She has the strength and drive we all love in a character. But to see her struggle with her own demons and makes her even more of a person you will love. I love it when the characters battle with themselves on things.
She has this amazing job and loves it as much as she loves to breathe. She works so hard to be this amazing doctor and she has a drive to to be the best.
Serenity also has the love of a great man but can’t let go of her past to truly let herself go.
Even though this is only from the female POV, I still loved it!!
Westin is the kind of man we all want to have, supportive, loving, caring, and successful with whatever he does. He is the perfect match for a character like Serenity and you hope they find love in the end!
I couldn’t stop reading this book once I started. I read it in a matter of hours. I had to know how it all ended!!
My heart was in a million pieces until I could get it together through this story. I love Corrine Michael’s writing as it always comes to be emotional. You Loved Me Once was a story I could not put down. The characters became a huge part of my heart. I was invested and they broke me a little. At the end, Corrine does not disappoint. I cannot recommend this story enough! #2021BookRec
After losing her mother to cancer, Serenity Adams becomes a doctor and tries to find a cure. It’s during the trials for her breakthrough treatment that her past comes back to greet her. Having lost the man she loved, Serenity is determined to let no man ever have her heart again. She’s been casually seeing Dr. Westin, but won’t go all in. He’s is honesty the most patient man, and waits for her to be ready. This story is one I wasn’t expecting, but I loved immensely all the same. You Loved Me Once is an emotional story full of heartache and love. It’s definitely one you don’t want to miss.
This book will pull your heart out and put it back together in a few hundred pages. It’s heartbreaking. It’s beautiful. It’s one of Corinne’s best. Read it.
Wowzer…This is an unbelievably well written. Its Corinne’s best yet! It’s about Ren and Westin. They are both successful and she gets lost in her work and holds him at arms length. He is super patience and loves her with all he has. It has it all! Please Read it!!!
This book had my heart from the first page. I think I also have a new favorite heroine of Corinne Michaels books in Dr. Serenity Adams. This story was so good and makes you think about unanswered prayers and the different turns life can take you. This boom will also break your heart. Highly recommended this stand alone story!
You loved me once
Is going to touch the hearts of so many And have so many of us feeling a connection with a part of this story .
Times It’s going to be tough to read but it’s a story that needs to be read …it’s a story that includes so much reality and something many of us will deal with personally, know someone or go through.
It’s Deeply touching and heart breaking.
Your emotions will definitely ride the rollercoaster!
The thought that this book almost didn’t make it out into the book world hurts my heart!! This may be my favorite Corinne book yet
5+ stars!
I generally love all of Corinne Michaels’s books but You Loved Me Once is top 3 status. Phenomenal read! Powerful, angsty and beautiful, I could not get enough. I loved every second of it.
This book is very much Serenity’s (Ren) story. The romance felt secondary. For the first time ever, I didn’t mind. Dr. Serenity Adams is an oncologist working to get approved for a new clinical trial. This is a matter close to her heart after losing her mother to cancer. When the trial begins, someone from her past comes back in her life and turns it upside down. Difficult decisions are made and she must deal with consequences. Corinne Michaels does a great job creating the struggle between following protocol and following your heart/gut. This book made me think. Made me question what I would do in her situation. I can honestly say I don’t know.
I would not do this book justice if I didn’t mention Westin. I love him. He’s so swoony and perfect. Supportive without being pushy. The only thing that made me angry at Ren was her not realizing how incredible Westin was from the beginning. Keeping him at an arm’s length and maintaining only a physical relationship. *sigh* He’s such a good guy.
Corinne Michaels doesn’t cease to amaze me. You Loved Me Once will be one of my top reads of the year. I can’t recommend it enough!!
You Loved Me Once is Corinne Michaels’s newest standalone, and it carries with a different sort of flavor from this bestselling author. This is more women’s fiction than the expected romance we get from Michaels, but that doesn’t mean that the quality of writing suffers from the shift. Dr. Serenity Adams’s story is thought-provoking as much as it is one that evokes certain emotions given the complexity of the situation our main character finds herself in, both in her personal and professional lives. I appreciated the story’s quick pace and the growth in Serenity. There was a genuine connection between here and Dr. Westin Grant, her love interest, and I liked the family aspect as well. Michaels pushed herself beyond her niche and readers reap the rewards. Five stars.
You Loved Me Once – was an amazing love story!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the audiobook was amazing with a fantastic narrator. Dr. Serenity Adams is living for helping her patients but has built some strong walls around her heart and personal relationships. This book will take you on an emotional journey that is full of love, heartache, loss, forgiveness, angst and will put your heart back together by the last page. Choices made whether right or wrong can alter our lives but how you accept, learn and move forward can make all the difference. Serenity has some hard choices to make regarding relationships, career, morally as a dr. I loved her character growth and how she discovers healing and finding herself. Wonderful book and characters!
I loved this book. It was a bit different than Corinne’s usual which was actually a pleasant surprise. I fell in love with the characters and cried more than once. It was one of my favorite books in June.
This book is everything I have come to expect from Corinne Michaels. It is full of emotion. It is full of life lessons. Most importantly it is full of love.
I loved following Serenity on her journey. She is such an incredible character. Having survived so much, trying to keep what fragments of her heart remain safe, just to watch things start to implode.
Life needs love. I think that is the most important thing to take away from this book. Life is just not worth living without love. Opening yourself up to love puts you at risk of getting hurt, but without risk there is no gain.
There were so many amazing characters in this book. For once though, I don’t think there was a single one to hate or dislike. This book is emotionally a bit harder to read. It is totally worth every page of it though.
You Loved Me Once by Corinne Michaels is an extremely emotional story. I have to say I had a love-hate relationship with this story. I hated it because this story was emotionally hard and heartbreaking. I mean, many tears were shed throughout this book. And, I loved it for the exact same reason! It was impossible not to get emotionally caught up as I read. It’s a very real feeling and a painful journey in many ways as heartbreak and loss are themes throughout.
Serenity lives life as an emotionless robot because of the losses she has suffered. And, just when she is ready to finally let Westin break down her walls, her past comes barrelling in like a tornado leaving utter destruction in its path. I loved her character and motivations. I loved the whys – Why she did everything she did. Why she closed herself off to others. And, why she needed love more than she understood.
And Westin, lord what a man! He is everything Serenity needs and more. Patient and loving. Supportive and encouraging. He gives her everything she needs and she doesn’t even realize it until it may be too late.
Grab some tissues and don’t read at work . . . I had sniffles and tears more than once. But, as much as this book is about loss, it is also about hope and finding and embracing love and everything the world tosses at you. 5 stars!
Serenity was feeling so many emotions while also trying to save the world as being the best doctor. She was so consumed by her job that she almost lost the best guy that ever stepped in her life. Westin always wanted more but she didn’t but he still couldn’t stay away. He watched her go thru sorrow and pain and stepped in when she needed him the most. They were both amazing in their own ways and your heart will tug at the emotions between these two. It was beautiful to read the last two endings in which Serenity got closure on her past and was able to move forward on her future.
Absolutely positive amazing! One of Corinne’s best works if not the best. I am gutted and emotionally broken in so many ways but so was Serenity and while she learned to heal herself, she put me back together. Truly you must read this book!
5 Stars
Oh my heart!
Serenity Adams knows loss like no other. Between losing her mom to cancer and the love of her life (on the same day), it’s understandable the walls she’s erected around her heart. Now, fast forward fourteen years and she is one of the top gynecologic oncology surgeons in the country who is about to start her first clinical trial for a new chemo to treat ovarian cancer. She’s also been in a casual relationship with fellow neurosurgeon, Westin Grant, for the last few years. Now, as the new trial starts, she comes face to face with the man who shattered who heart… and his wife.
You Loved Me Once is one of those stories that will grabs onto your heart and holds it hostage throughout the story. So many emotions that several times while listenining (I had the audiobook), I found myself with tears streaming down my face. My heart ached for Serenity with the decisions she was faced with and I imagined that any doctor in her shoes would be faced with the same thing at any point in their career. This book in simple words was flat out amazing and most definitely worth a read.

Highly emotional ride!!!! So many twists and turns! I am so glad Corinne decided to publish this gem! It’s so different from her other stories in an amazing way!!!
The premise of the story is such a catch-22 and the things that are asked of the main character and and pressure that gets placed on her is so much to handle.
Amazing story!!
