From New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels comes a heartbreakingly beautiful standalone story about letting love in.
I’m losing myself trying to save everyone else…
As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life–love is a luxury I can’t afford.
It isn’t until Dr. Westin Grant breaks … until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I’m brave enough to risk my heart.
When who I was and who I’ve tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.
In a single moment, everything I’ve worked for is jeopardized. My integrity, my career, and even my relationship with Westin.
He loved me once, I just hope he can love me always …

Cancer is a devastating disease. This stand-alone story by Corinne Michaels’ centers around Dr. Serenity Adams. Ms. Michaels gives us a glimpse from the provider’s perspective, whom works tirelessly to care for and treat cancer patients. Ms. Michaels illustrates the sacrifices and dilemma that Serenity faces as a doctor and how her profession impacted her personal life decisions.
As a longtime fan of Corinne Michaels, this story brings to light the dedication of Serenity to her profession and her patients, while simultaneously showing her heartache and conflict in her personal life based upon her calling. In addition to being a love story, this book is about dedication, trust and faith. It is a departure from Ms. Michaels’ previous series, but nonetheless, a story that will have you reaching for a box of tissues.
“Yᴏᴜ ᴍɪɢʜᴛ ʙᴇ ʟᴏsᴛ ʀɪɢʜᴛ ɴᴏᴡ, ʙᴜᴛ I’ᴍ ʜᴏʟᴅɪɴɢ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴍʏ ʜᴀɴᴅ, ᴀsᴋɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛᴏ ʟᴇᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴘᴜʟʟ ʏᴏᴜ ʙᴀᴄᴋ.”
Corinne Michaels is one of those authors that when I see a sign up for her, I jump on it! I have never actually read women’s fiction before but because she’s one of the author’s I love to read, I figured I’d give it a chance.
You Loved Me Once is a women’s fiction that centers on Serenity. It’s an intensely emotional read that gave me goosebumps and had me really sitting back and thinking about what I would do if I were in her shoes.
Corinne delivered a book that has you really feeling the emotions that she intended as you sit back and watch it all unfold in front of you.
Four *4* stars for this emotional book that definitely had me intrigued until the end.
This is not a normal book from Corinne. I felt so bad for her. Bryce I really didn’t care for him but I loved Westin. I loved her relationships with the secondary characters. I’d love to see her brothers story.
WOW, Corinne has once again delivered a read that leaves me with all the damn feels!!! This book is nothing like her previous books, this one stands out because it’s probably her best work yet!
” There are different kinds of love. The kind that saves you and the kind that breaks you.”
This book was real, angsty and emotional but in the end it’s a book that will stay with me long after reading and that’s how I know this is a top read for me. This story is all about the choices we make in life and standing by those choices whether right or wrong, we own them.
“Time heals all wounds, but when you’re fighting a broken clock, each second counts.”
Serenity and Westin’s story is an addicting friends to lovers office romance that is filled with heartbreak, loss, redemption and love. If you read anything this year read this beautiful story that will absolutely steal your heart!
Another awesome book by Corinne Michaels. Love her stories and this one was no exception. I get so emotionally involved in her stories and cannot put them down until I finish. Wonderful story and well written. Don’t forget the tissues!
5 Stars
You Loved Me Once is the latest stand-alone novel by Corinne Michaels. It literally consumed me from the minute I started reading until the very last page. Every who knows me, knows I am a huge Michaels fan. Her books are amazing. But this story was incredible.
It was so heartbreakingly beautiful. I loved that I had no idea how it was all going to play out. Ms. Michaels keeps you guessing until the very end. The characters embedded their way into my heart and soul. Serenity was so broken and closed off but she also was strong and had a huge heart. She is forever changed when she comes face to face with her past. And she has no idea how much it’s going to change her future.
I loved this book so much. It honestly had all the feels. It was everything I thought it was going to be. Highly recommend reading it!
When a broken heart closes her off to the possibility of ever finding love again, Serenity finds herself caught between her past and her present. As a Dr. she tries to heal women giving them a chance a fighting chance at a healthy and long life. Her job has brought back the one person that hurt her heart finding herself in an impossible position , while finding that the one person wh truly loves and respects her has been the one by her side for the last two years.
This book is going to break your heart and heal it at the same time. The relationship between Westin is filled with passion and love. A healing love for Serenity teaching her how to accept her past and fill her future with happiness.
A passionate read with an unexpected twist and an ending that will not only surprise you but fill you with warmth.
Corinne Michaels delivers an amazing, emotional and beautiful story about learning to allow yourself to accept love and make love a priority.
Serenity and Westin are both dedicated and successful doctors with careers that are on the rise. For Serenity, love is something that she doesn’t think she’ll ever have. She doesn’t want it, doesn’t need it, doesn’t want her interfering with her career. But in Westin, she has a partner that provides companionship when needed, but nothing more. Until he wants more. Until he makes it clear that he wants more. Until he makes it clear that she deserves more.
But just as she starts thinking of letting herself fall in love, her first love, the one that broke her heart, comes back in and sends her into an emotional tailspin. Added to her stress is her providing for both her father and brother, and Serenity is in over her head, but can’t ask for help.
Westin manages to break through Serenity’s guard, and shows her that it is ok to lean on someone else, to rely on someone else, to accept help, to accept love and to give love in return. It was such an emotional rollercoaster for both of them.
The audio, narrated by Julia Whelan, was wonderful. Julia really captured the heart of Serenity’s inner turmoil. Julia is such an emotional and emotive narrator, she makes it a real joy to listen.
I read and reviewed this book voluntarily.
Dr. Serenity Adams is a dedicated top of her game gynecological oncologist who is about to start clinical trials on a drug that she feels is the right combination of drugs to help save women from having to get a hysterectomy when they end up with uterine cancer. She seems to have it all, the support of her.. Well what do we call him… They have been together for 2 years but she keeps Westin at arms length, a career she loves; but she has her demons. She lost her mother 14 years ago to cancer, at the same time she lost the love of her life, the man she has not gotten over….
When her past becomes part of her present she finds herself spinning. The man she has not gotten over and the man she is with now…. Will she be able to get the closure she needs in order to move forward with a man that has waited because he loves her so much or will she stay caught in the past?
This was an emotional book. Serenity makes some questionable decisions, for the right reasons; and risks losing everything….. Does she? Another must read by Ms. Michaels.
As far as one-click authors go, Corinne Michaels is at the top of my list. She always delivers funny, sexy, snarky female characters who know how to put their men in their place and you instantly want to be best friends with them. Serenity is no different, but the story Corinne delivers IS! You Loved Me Once brings forward the struggle of making the tough decisions and standing by them. Serenity is a specialist who is partaking in a trial that suddenly brings her past to her present. This causes a rift between her and Westin, a fellow doctor who is also her lover. Their struggles, along with the everyday obstacles of being doctors weighs heavy on their relationship, but they must decide if this is something they want to fight for. I feel like I shouldn’t be saying as much as I have about this story because it is truly meant to be EXPERIENCED and devoured.
A breathtaking and heartbreaking novel about redemption and love.
You Loved Me Once is an emotional ride that takes you on a medical roller coaster. Yes, it does have romance with the dreamy Westin, but the story goes much deeper into choices and what happens when life doesn’t go the way you expect. I adore Corinne Michaels writing, and You Loved Me Once stole my heart as her top book in my opinion. The raw emotion, the passion, and the beautiful story will make you fall in love too.
Oh my heart. This story! In true fashion for the author, she broke me. I was not prepared for the journey this story would take us on. I loved everything about this story. I loved every part of this story, from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for a better story.
I’m not sure how Corinne Michaels does it every time but she manages to deliver a brilliant story that embeds itself in your heart and stays with you after you finish.
She has weaved a flawless tale of love, loss and healing. She breaks your heart but puts it slowly back together. I’m struggling not to rant and rave about this book but I would be giving away the storyline and this most definitely is one that you need to experience for yourself. I will advise tissues, chocolate and alcohol though as those are most definitely needed.
I’m glad Corinne Michaels decided to publish this one as its a story that’s personally and deeply meaningful to her. I have loved all the books she has published but this one is honestly one of my favourites. I felt all the feels with this one.
I know that every time I read a Corinne Michaels book I say – “this one’s my favorite” but seriously – this one might be my new favorite.
Corinne Micheals had everything in this book to make you not want to stop reading (or listening). I listened to the audible and the narrator was perfect. I was brought right into this story and often times I didn’t know what I wanted for these characters. I was/am so invested in their lives.
Our main character Serenity – had NO serenity in her life. She was dealt a situation that no one could ever imagine (well – except Corinne Micheals). The angst and turmoil in this book were at epic proportions and thankfully- I am an angst whore.
I shed more than a few tears while reading and this book took a turn I didn’t see coming. Wow is all I can say! Thank you Corinne Micheals for this fabulous book.
An absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful love story. My heart ached for Sincerity with all she had already faced and everything that was grumbling in front of her….all the tears. Westin is everything she needed but didn’t realize. This book will surely have you in all your feels.
I remember a while back I asked Corinne is this book would make us cry, her response was “No, I don’t think it will.” well, I am here to tell you that she lied. This book made my cry…. a lot.
You Loved Me Once was in fact something a bit different than what Corinne usually writes, but it was an amazing different. This story is so raw, it’s about life, love, and finding yourself. I couldn’t put the book down for even a second, I loved these characters so much.
Corinne writes magic, and with this books, she proves that there’s nothing she can’t write, she has the power to write something that will leave you speechless and so obsess with everything about that book world she created. Serenity, she was someone who build so many walls around her, she didn’t and couldn’t let people in. I loved seeing her journey, her journey on finding peace and letting people who love her in.
Westin, I cannot describe how much I loved him. He is hands down, one of my favorite Corinne heroes. I loved how patient, how understanding, how caring he is. I loved how he understand Serenity so well, he is everything!!
This book deserves so much more than 5 stars.
Ripped open, stitched together, and left on the pages
Do you ever read a book and it leaves you at a loss for words?! When I took this journey with Serenity Adams, it was special in so many ways and yet hard for me to stamp out a review that would do it justice. In this book, there is angst, steam, sweet moments, angry fits, past and present. A woman’s journey in life is special and a rollercoaster. I felt like I was standing beside her and feeling every emotion, I cried and screamed. I hugged the book and walked away from it. As women, we often struggle with worth, and Serenity was no different. Being a sister, daughter, friend, lover, doctor, and woman. With the push and pull between all the people in her life and giving them all that she can, she doesn’t stop to breathe and consider what she deserves. That’s what this book is about!
They say we have 3 great loves in our life, I think her first love was Bryce, her job is her second love and Westin is her forever love. I enjoyed every word read and it’s a perfect book to stay with me forever.
I’ve been a fan of this author for years now and while certain characters are still my absolute favorite, I have to say this is probably her best work to date. It left me feeling like my heart was ripped open, stitched back together, and left in the pages of the book.
Corinne is such a talented author. No matter what book she gives us the honor to read, she has the ability to make you feel so many emotions. Joy, anger, frustration, sadness, and finally that sense of calm before the storm before she finally puts your heart back together again better than it was before.
Serenity and Westin’s story isn’t your typical Corinne romance. She has said this from the very beginning. But this book is no less beautiful than all of her others. Truly remarkable.
Serenity struggles with letting herself love. She’s been hurt so badly in the past, so she’s afraid to put herself out there to love and be loved. She lost her mother and a serious relationship but she was never able to really grieve either one. That can undoubtedly change a person. She built a wall years ago and was determined not to let anyone in.
To bad for her that Wes is such an amazing man who cares so deeply for her and is willing to do anything and wait for however long she needs to see that he is there. Wes knew that they could be something beautiful together and he just needed Ren to finally see that as well.
But she must go through some serious struggles and hard decisions before she can finally see what has been in front of her for years….Wes.
Thank you Corinne for giving us this amazing story about love, loss, hard decisions and finding your true self again. I know you were worried about finally putting this story out there but you shouldn’t be….this story is fantastic.
I absolutely fell in love with Weston and Serenity from beginning to end. The story completely told from Serenity’s point of view we get a first hand account of what she went thru as personally and professionally as a oncologist. Westin is the man who loves her and proves that time after time. When Serenity’s past slams into her she reels and makes choices that could ruin both her career and her her relationship.
Ms Michaels writes a complex story of loss and redemption that is a surprise and an emotional read. From the first paragraph Serenity’s story draws the reader in and doesn’t let go to the end.
This meets all my expectations from Corinne, waiting anxiously for this release and trying to time my last read to the day this came out.
I devoured this and want to experience it all over again.
Sexy hospital drama I felt like it was Grey’s Anatomy done Corinne Style. LOVE
Dr Serenity Adams is an amazing doctor, she had her heart broken 14 years ago so she keeps her walls up high. Dr Westin Grant is hot brain surgeon trying to get thru her walls.
So many feels in this book I loved it and want everyone to read it.
Thank you for the beautiful words Corinne!
