She has every reason to hate her ex … it doesn’t mean she wants him dead.Every day on her way home from work, Dove Damiani drives past her ex-house, where her ex-husband lives with her ex-dog and her ex-yoga instructor, next to her ex-neighbors and the ex-life she once affectionately described as “frighteningly perfect.”To outsiders, Dove is bitter and resentful. The divorce left her alone, with … left her alone, with nothing but a set of car keys and 50% of a paltry savings account.
So when the lifeless body of her former husband is discovered in the birch grove outside Dove’s apartment on what would have been their fifth wedding anniversary, investigators waste no time making Dove a person of interest.
She swears she didn’t do it. She’s never so much as killed a spider in her thirty-four years.
But as evidence mounts against her, Dove finds herself questioning her memory, her sanity, and even—her innocence.

“You Have To Believe Me” by Sunday Tomassetti has left me speechless. What a fantastic page turner! No lulls, continuous action, and a steady build-up of tension, twists and turns. Thirty-something Dove Damiani still loves her ex-husband Ian, who has left her for her best friend. On what would have been their 5th anniversary he is found dead outside her apartment, and she becomes the main suspect. Dove tries to discover for herself who killed Ian, but each time she questions someone brings another surprise and plot twist. Does anyone really know anyone? This story is filled with tricky, well written characters and you’ll be second guessing every one. Start reading, and you won’t be able to put it down. I loved it!! Well done, five stars!!
This is my first time reading this author, I shall be looking out for more books by her though! This is a fabulous plot that has so much suspense and twists and turns that it had me enthralled and engaged till the very end. Everything about this book is perfect, from the plot, to the characters and the writing style – pure perfection!

I am SUCH a sucker for an unreliable narrator and a classic whodunnit and, oh boy, does this one deliver both…
Filled with well-written characters, any one of which could be the killer, and red herrings galore, Sunday Tomassetti writes a great book. I could hardly stand to put it down.
Thank you to the publisher for this ARC, the rest of you can grab it on September 19th and you absolutely should!
This suspense thriller will keep you trying to figure out who did it until the very end. This was well written and has an intriguing storyline that will keep you turning the pages. The characters were interesting to read about. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Amazing! Exciting! Suspenseful!
Very clever and original murder mystery! You’ll definitely be guessing until the end. You’ll think you have it all figured out but then the next chapter begins and you’re guessing again. It was so great to read. I was so sucked in that I couldn’t put it down!
The writing style is unique as well. When we are reading from Dove’s point of view it’s like she’s talking to her ex-husband Ian, the murder victim. The other point of view is of Kirsten, Dove’s former friend that immediately began a relationship and moved in with Ian once they divorced. Such a slap in the face and heartbreaking especially since Dove always had some sliver of hope that Ian would come back to her. They’d been married 5 years but they’d been together since they were 14. Of course the police pin her as a scorned ex-wife and make her a main person of interest. It’s a race for Dove to find out who really killed Ian and to clear her name. But as she investigates more she uncovers crazy secrets and she realizes that she never really knew Ian at all.
I loved this! I was on the edge of my seat not wanting to put this book down until I got to the last sentence! 5+++ mysterious stars!
This book is about a woman accused of killing her exhusband. She discovers he is a cheater who got a high school student pregnant. Her former husband was a History teacher. His current wife is also pregnant. The current wife and ex wife team up to discover who killed him.
Everyone is Suspected by Someone at Some Point. Easy read psychological thriller that could happen to anybody in any town. No one knows what baggage any adult grew up with. No one knows what anyone is capable of. The public image one presents can be very deceiving. All components of this murder mystery.
Loved this book. Keeps you guessing all the way to the end, and the end is not disappointing!
I really enjoyed this book. I will read more by this author.
Great story line.
Too detailed
I enjoyed this book. Stayed up late to finish it!
Somewhat predictable plot: interested amateur detective solves murder of her ex-husband. What I didn’t predict was the unlikely culprit.
Excellent read hard to put down
3.5 Stars; I was thoroughly enjoying this who dunnit questioning all the characters motives. Then the tempo of the plot went from about 30 mph to 90 mph and I was like WTH? Where did that come from? That’s a bit sudden. So at that point my intrigued and attention took a bit of a nose dive.
I did like the characters, the plot was good and there were plenty of twists and turns that kept me reading. I just feel that the middle part of this book could have been better planned. It almost felt rush… Like the author was either running out of patience or didn’t know how to turn the plot around to get the reader thinking along different lines.
I did find it a bit freaky how the main character constantly talked to her dead husband but after a while i settled into it and it did make a lot of sense as the character went through her journey.
This was a great psychological thriller where you as a reader are taken on the search for the murderer of Ian Damiani. Is it his ex-wife Dove who will still inherit everything from him? Or is it Kirsten, his new girlfriend who is pregnant with their child? Or is it a woman Ian was in secret contact with? Or is it …..?
When you suspect the people around you and see something suspicious in everyone, it becomes difficult to assume the good of people.
Captivatingly written, unexpected denouement

“You Have to Believe Me” is an interesting domestic thriller where even Dove wonders if she is guilty or innocent of the murder of her ex-husband. Could she possibly have lost her memory of doing such a thing? The storyline is well written and has so much evidence piled up against Dove that it almost seems like she is guilty… or is she? Lots of twists kept me engaged until the end.

Amazing how several dysfunctional people’s lives can be combined into a very readable and entertaining story! The end is rather unpredictable but surprisingly nice!
