So happy to see a new series – always enjoy Terry’s writing.
Emotionally thrilling, action packed adventure filled with dangerous and engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and undeniable passion. Was a great read from beginning to end, awesome beginning to a new series. Really enjoyed this exciting journey and looking forward to more.
This is book 1 in the Wolff Brothers series and is an offshoot from the Silver Town Wolves series. Blake Wolff and his family have moved to Silver Town and opened a ski resort. They have always wanted to live in a shifter controlled area and this town seems like the perfect fit for them. They plan on things being quiet but they never planned on what is coming their way. Private investigator Josie Grayson has come to the ski lodge on the trail of a criminal. But when her partner falls ill-she pulls Blake into her investigation in order to help. Not only does he step up and help but so does his whole family, and now she has to decide on whether she wants to see where something between them could lead or to go back home when her case is solved.
I really liked this one! Blake is this beyond sweet man who not only wants to truly help Josie but he is just genuinely nice. He has a heart of gold and isn’t afraid to show his friends and family that he cares about them. Josie is a woman who stands up for the things she believes in and isn’t afraid to do the hard things when necessary. But even while doing them-she still has this caring and depth that you can’t help but like. My only drawback was that parts of the story seemed a little slow to develop. Other than that-excellent start to this series! I can’t wait to get the rest of the siblings stories, including Josie’s!
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!

I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Nicole is staying at a ski lodge in Silver Town to investigate the possible insurance fraud being committed by one of the lodge’s guests. When her partner gets sick, she needs another partner, so she enlists the help of Blake Wolff, one of the lodge owners. Blake is attracted to Nicole so he’s more than happy to help her. As the investigation heats up, Blake realizes how much he’s come to care for Nicole. Will he be able to convince Nicole there’s more to life than work…and that they are perfect for each other?
What a fun and interesting book! There’s wolf shifters, bad guys, and a romance…a perfect trifecta. I enjoyed it very much.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
You Had Me at Wolf is a fun and entertaining paranormal cozy mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderfully layered plot that left me completely captivated and utterly enthralled. There was never a dull moment, and I loved the non-stop action and mystery. I also enjoyed the personal growth and action between our memorable characters. They kept things warmed up and constantly on edge as their relationship deepened and the story unfolded. What exciting fun!
Nicole found herself chasing her next case, but she never expected to find more then just her suspects waiting for her. Nothing prepared her to find so much more then the normal clues and evidence in order to convict the felons she was tracking. This case would literally change her life in addition to being one of the more complex cases she ever took on. As co owner of the ski resort that Nicole finds herself at, Blake is thrown off kilter when she kisses him before even shaking his hand or saying hello. Don’t get me wrong, he certainly isn’t complaining about it one bit. In fact, he can’t stay away from this mysterious woman, and the more he learns about her the more he wants to know. She is changing everything for him, and he couldn’t be happier about this mew development. Can Nicole follow her heart and not risk missing an important piece of the puzzle, or will she find that she can breathe and enjoy life even while she is on the hunt?
I was a goner then I met Nicole and then Blake. Nicole is a brilliant and driver woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. Even still, she wouldn’t be oppsed to be more if it is offered. Blake is a down-to-earth sweetheart who is hoping for more one day then just his day to day life. Neither is actively looking and yet when they run into each other, it is literally like the Earth tilted off its axis because they can’t get enough of the other. Hopelessly drawn to the other, they find a blessedly wonderful helpmate and more passionate heat then they ever dreamed possible. Their future is looking brighter if they only choose to take a leap of faith and follow their heart.
I found myself becoming a big fan of Terry Spear while experiencing the wonder and majesty of this amazing story. She is a very meticulous writer who stole my breath a few times throughout this fun journey. This story left me a smiling and happy mess afterwards. What a beautiful world full of wonder and family and love. I couldn’t have asked for anything more!
A new series with some hot wolf brothers! This is a good read moves along nicely and has all the best points in a good book. Hot wolf shifters, good action and great storyline. I was hooked at the start and read until I finished it. It is about a group of brothers that move to a wolf town and open a ski lodge thinking they would enjoy a quieter life but fate has a hand in things and Jossie Grayson a private investigator on a case, shows up with a sick partner needing help. The first of the brothers is Blake he to help her and show her that he is the wolf for her. Really looking forward to reading more from these brothers.
YOU HAD ME AT WOLF by Terry Spear is the first book in the Wolff Brothers paranormal romantic suspense series. While the prologue is set in Fort Meade, Maryland, the main story line is set in Silver Town, Colorado. Our protagonist is Denver-based Private Investigator and Gray Wolf shifter Josie Grayson who is working an insurance fraud case at a ski lodge. When a fellow investigator gets altitude sickness, Josie enlists the help of one of the lodge owners.
Josie is a strong female lead that is someone you can root for. Her goals are clear and believable. The supporting characters are well-rounded and enhance the story. It had plenty of suspense, some humor, and the romance did not heat up until the second half of the book with some steamy scenes. The descriptions were vivid without detracting from the flow of the story. It also had several themes running through it including insurance fraud, the importance of family, friendship and much more.
Overall, the plot was intriguing and contemporary. I was immediately interested in this novel. The prose was well-written and engrossing. The story entertaining, paced well, and well worth reading. However, the cover doesn’t quite fit with the story line. I would have expected Josie to be depicted on it. If you enjoy good contemporary paranormal romantic suspense novels, then this author may be one you will enjoy as much as I did. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Meanwhile, I am going to check out her Silver Town Wolf series.
Thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and Terry Spear for a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
When Josie was in the military as an MP, she couldn’t get enough evidence to nail a thief. Smell evidence isn’t exectly admissable in human courts! Now a PI back home in Colorado, she finally has a chance to name the same slimeball. Maybe nor for the original attempted theft but fraudulent life insurance scams will do!
When her partner gets taken down by altitude sickness, she lucks into the tall, hot and very wolfy Blake as a sub. He may be part owner in the hotel but he has investigator instincts and being another wolf, all the back uo she’ll need. He may also get his sister off her back for not solving the original attempted theft!
Blake thought opening the lodge with his family would be excitement enough. Wrong! Now he has a sexy partner and he’s helping to take down the slime who tried to steal from his sister! Now, if he could only convince Josie she is also his mate!
Great read, tight plot and engaging characters. Great extension to the Silver Town World!
3.5 stars– YOU HAD ME AT WOLF is the first instalment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult WOLFF BROTHERS paranormal, romance series-a spin off from the author’s Silver Town Wolf series. This is Private Investigator, former special agent in the US Army Criminal Investigation Command, and Gray wolf shifter Nicole Grayson, and Wolff Timberline ski lodge owner Blake Wolff’s story line. You do not have to have read the original series to understand or follow Wolff Brothers.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Nicole and Blake) YOU HAD ME AT WOLFF follows the building relationship between is Private Investigator, former special agent in the US Army Criminal Investigation Command, and Gray wolf shifter Nicole Grayson, and ski lodge owner Blake Wolff. Nicole Grayson, a gray wolf shifter is an insurance fraud investigator, and her latest assignment took her to Silver Town, a shifter run town, where the Wolff brothers owned and ran a local ski lodge. When her partner in the investigations took sick, Nicole found herself face to face with Blake Wolff, and the Wolff extended pack and family, as our heroine investigated the case of insurance fraud involving a once-dead client who is very much alive. What ensues is the building relationship between Nicole and Blake, as they work together to reveal the truth.
The relationship between Blake and Nicole is one of immediate attraction but Nicole is only in town for a short time as she investigates a case of fraud. While Nicole had no intention of extending her time in Silver town, the developing relationship between herself and Blake forces Nicole to reconsider the future, and the future of her own extended family. Blake knows that Nicole is the one but they must first uncover the truth with the help of his Pack, and extended family. The $ex scenes are intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Blake’s large extended family including his brothers Landon, Brandon and sisters Kayla and Roxie, Pack leaders Darien and Lelandi Silver, Nicole’s brother Nate, as well as several members of the Silver Town Pack previously introduced in the original series.
YOU HAD ME AT WOLF is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love. The slow building premise is entertaining but so much of the story line felt like filler-from the many detailed dinners to side stories, that had nothing to do with the overall premise. The characters are numerous, colorful and energetic; the romance is passionate but I didn’t feel the palpable sexual attraction.
I’m a little confused by this because when I checked reviews the heroine has a different name to the copy I have. In my copy her name is Nicole and she’s a private investigator trying to catch out someone who is trying to defraud the company she and her partner are working for. She’s tracked the guy to a ski resort run by Wolves but things are not exactly straightforward because she’s run across the suspect in her past life as a member of the military.
I haven’t read a book by this author for a while and it was lovely to read something so well written. This author excels at creating a believable world where shifters just feel so realistic. In fact if you normally read romantic suspense that doesn’t really feature any paranormal aspects then this series should certainly appeal . Nicole has always known that what her powerful nose can sniff out wouldn’t be admissible in court so good old traditional sleuthing is most definitely called for but when her partner gets sick she enlists the assistance of fellow Wolf Blake . Their relationship builds quite nicely as they track down the target but it’s not without trouble along the way. I enjoyed this story with its fun characters and steamy romance and of course with Wolves you get Pack dynamics which are always interesting to read about.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
While for the most part I enjoyed this read, it was not without any issues. As for what I really liked: the paranormal and romantic suspense themes, the humor and the entertaining cast of characters. As for what didn’t work for me: I thought that the pacing was slow and although I liked Josie and Blake and thought they shared some cute moments I just didn’t get that deep connection or the intense chemistry that I wanted to see and feel. Still, overall it was an entertaining book that left me more than willing to read the next book in this series.
You Had Me at Wolf is the first in a new series. I loved that the lead character was a smart, strong independent female wolf shifter. This story had me laughing out loud and gasping with shock. A fun ride and a terrific lead in to the next book.
