Alec Sullivan has always believed he has it all. A billion-dollar private aviation business. A penthouse apartment in New York City. Beautiful women who know better than to expect him ever to fall in love. And great siblings for whom he’d do anything. But when Alec’s business partner passes away and leaves everything to a daughter Alec never knew about, in an instant everything in his life turns … turns upside down…all because of Cordelia.
Cordelia always thought she was perfectly happy with her life. She owns a garden store she loves, lives in a pretty little cottage in the same town as her adoptive parents, and figures there’s plenty of time to meet Mr. Right. But she never counted on becoming the surprise heir to a fortune…or on meeting a man like Alec Sullivan. A shockingly sexy billionaire who makes her heart race and melt all at the same time.
Neither Alec nor Cordelia plans on getting any closer than they have to. Only, how can either of them fight this kind of heat, this depth of desire? And when Cordelia needs Alec’s support, it’s pure instinct for him to be there for her. But when it’s her turn to help him confront his deepest pain, will Alec let her in? Or will he push her away, just as he’s pushed away everyone who’s loved him for the past thirty years…

You Do Something to Me is Book 3 of the New York Sullivans and Bella has written another awesome book about life, heartbreak, finding yourself, laughter, tears, and most of all love.
Alec Sullivan is co-owner of a billion dollar aviation company with Gordon Whitley who was Alec’s boss right out of business school and later they became business partners. Until one evening Gordon has a fatal heart attack and the only word he uttered is Cordelia…a secret Gordon has been keeping for years.
Cordelia Langley has little nursery and is happy with her life until she is notified that she has inherited part of a billion dollar business and gets the shock of her life that it’s from her birth father who she has never met.
When these two meet for the first time Alec is all business and already has a buyout package ready but when he sees her everything changes…the instant attraction, spending time with Cordelia and helping her forgive her birth father for giving her up, also helps Alec to find it in his heart to begin forgiving his father too.
There are so many feels that it keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next in bringing Alec and Cordelia to finding their HEA! !
5 BEAUTIFUL PERFECT STARS!! This is one of my favorite books by Bella Andre, it is sweet, beautiful and perfectly written. I fell in love with Alec and Cordelia, two people so different can be so right for each other. This book is the perfect weekend read with a cup of tea. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I do not know what to say! I have been a fan of Bella Andre and her Sullivan series for a few years now. I just finished her latest You Do Something to Me. It is the 17th book in this in this series, and the 3rd in the New York Sullivan’s. You would think after 16 books in a series it would start to get old?
NO. FREAKING. WAY!!!!!
You Do Something to Me is FABULOUS! STUPENDOUS! A TOTAL PAGE TURNER. A PHENOMENAL HEA! A TOTAL EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER RIDE! I could go on and on, but I will stop.
I will not write my own synopsis of my own, because you HAVE read the blurb, haven’t you? I will tell you WHY I loved this book.
First, and foremost, Bella Andre wrote the book. She has a way, at least for me anyway, of drawing the reader into the book from the very first chapter. The way she creates, and describes her characters, you just absolutely fall in love with them. The way she writes about the settings in her books, you can see them in your mind.
Second, I REALLY love a book series. And this Sullivan series, love, Love, LOVE IT! The way Ms. Andre lets you read up on previous characters in previous books. I really enjoy seeing how their lives are going. Every book in this series has been different. For instance, in You Do Something to Me, the hero, Alec Sullivan is absolutely sure he is NOT cut out for love, after watching… OOPS, sorry, no spoilers. And Cordelia, I love her! She SEES what even his family cannot… Again, sorry, no spoilers.
I MUST say, “Thank You” Ms. Bella Andre for all of the hours and hours of reading pleasure you have given me over the years. You have helped me to get thru some trying times over the last couple of years. Reading your books have been a temporary escape from life. I am forever grateful!
I was gifted with an ARC of You Do Something to Me for my honest opinion, and from reading this review, you can probably tell my opinion.
KUDOS, Ms. Andre on another FAN FREAKING FABULOUS BOOK!!
Thank you for reading my review. I hope this helps you to make up your mind. Now, what are you waiting for, go his that “one-click” button!
Alec Sullivan is the oldest of William Sullivan’s 4 children. When Alec’s mom committed suicide when he was only 5, his dad went into a debilitating grief, causing Alec to take care of his younger siblings. Even as an adult he still feels it is his responsibility to look after the well being of his siblings, even if they want him to butt out. Through the first two books featuring Alec’s brother Drake and his sister Suzanne, we know his siblings have begun bridging the emotional rift between the kids and their father…all except Alec.
We see Alec’s protective nature come out again in his story when he meets Cordelia Langley, the unknown daughter and heir of his business partner, Gordon, who passes away suddenly. Gordon was like a father to Alec when his own was too emotionally distant. Because he has the heart of a Sullivan, Alec naturally felt compelled to protect Gordon’s daughter from the publicity and notoriety that came with her surprised inheritance.
I really loved Cordelia as our heroine because she was able to overcome her resentment toward her birth father who never sought contact with her, while recognizing the grief Alec was suffering over his loss. As his “friend”, Cordelia is able to break through Alec’s emotional barriers and show him that she can be there to help support him, like he’s been there all his life for his siblings.
With the story told from a dual perspective, we can “hear” how strong Cordelia is in her commitment to be there for her friend, even if he can never love her the way she’s falling for him. From Alec, we “hear” his internal struggle about his fear of hurting Cordelia since he believes he can’t be the man she deserves.
I understand how Bella Andre fell in love with Alec while writing his story because his and Cordelia’s romance unravelled so naturally and beautifully! I didn’t want the story to end!
What would you do if an unknown relative left you a lot of money when they died? Embrace it or give it away? Cordelia knows she was adopted but she had a wonderful set of parents & never felt unwanted. Now her biological dad has died & left her his half of a hugely successful private aviation business. Alec Sullivan, the other partner, is willing to buy her out & does everything he can to make the situation easier on her. She’s not prepared for the emotions Alec brings out.
Alec can’t believe Gordon kept a secret from him. They were there for each other since Alec was young. Gordon was more of a father to him than his real father was. When he met Cordelia, the sparks began to fly. He wanted to do everything he could go make the situation easier for her. He tried to protect her from himself too. He wasn’t going to commit to one person, ever. It caused too many problems.
Bella Andre has given us another great story in the Sullivan saga. These can be read as stand alone but you understand the family synergy better if you at least read the others in the New York group. The characters are well developed but at first Alec & Cordelia don’t seem to fit at all. Alec is on a journey of self discovery. He needs to find a way to make peace with his past & discover what he truly wants from life. Another great book that makes you think!
