When your nemesis also happens to be your fiancé, happily ever after becomes a lot more complicated in this wickedly funny, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy debut.Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. Naomi wants out, but there’s a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare.
But with the countdown looming to the wedding that may or may not come to pass, Naomi finds her resolve slipping. Because now that they have nothing to lose, they’re finally being themselves—and having fun with the last person they expect: each other.

Laugh-out-loud funny and heartfelt, You Deserve Each Other is one of my favorite books of the year.
I super loved this book. The pranks these two pull on each other are seriously bananas, just hilarious. They gave me serious How To Loose a Guy in Ten Days vibes. I usually don’t enjoy romances where the couple is already there and struggles to rekindle their love. But this story was so different, original, witty, and adorable that I devoured it. Great humor, great chemistry, great swoons.
I’ll be following this author.
This book is the perfect dose of sweet, hilarious JOY. It’s masterful comedy + tenderness, unique voice + rich characters. Nicholas! Swoon! We are in love.
ALL THE STARS!
You Deserve Each Other is Sarah Hogle’s debut novel and a 2020 favorite read for sure!
Refreshing, authentic, and filled with laughs. I’ve never seen such rawness from book characters.
I loved how total opposites Naomi and Nicholas are. They’re flawed. He has some good character development and Naomi has good inner monologue. He was arrogant but misunderstood. And Naomi is immature at times but so sassy and headstrong.
This story gave a pretty accurate depiction of the inner workings of a relationship. The struggles. The arguments. The lack of communication. The dishonesty. Two people that lose their way at one point and have to find each other again. I couldn’t help but fall in love.
This story was simply fun and filled me with so much happiness I could burst! Sarah Hogle is an author that you definitely need to watch out for. I’m looking forward to reading more of her work in the near future.
ALL THE STARS
Sarah Hogle explores the often tumultuous side of relationships in a rather humorous way, putting her very own distinctive twist on the enemies-to-lovers trope.
Naomi Westfield is engaged to Nicholas Rose. With their wedding only a few months away, the days leading up to said wedding should be some of the happiest they have ever experienced. Instead, they are filled with a bitterness and a refusal to communicate, leaving unshared emotions to sit and fester. Factor in the added stress from Nicholas’ mother, Deborah Rose, having vetoed all of the bride-to-be’s wishes from the cake and flowers to the dress and venue, resulting in Naomi having no say what-so-ever.
Nicholas’ arrogance dominates the first few chapters of the book. His constant agreement with his mother is one of the main rifts in his relationship with Naomi as he is forever the faithful son. But please, pretty please, do not let this deter you. This man has so many layers, so much depth to his character and with each passing chapter the facade’ of him falls away and who he truly is can be seen.
Naomi’s disconnect stems from her not being emotionally vulnerable nor present, per se, in the relationship even though she’s physically there. She lives inside her head, which is quite apparent within the first few chapters. With this novel written solely in Naomi’s point-of-view, readers are privy to her every thought as Sarah creates a rather memorable inner monologue. At times, she can seem a bit immature in her antics; however, she’s witty, full of sass, and strong-willed.
Currently, their relationship is at a standstill. It’s a stagnant mess of dishonesty and animosity that neither will speak on. What was once shiny and filled with love has dimmed. Now, dull and filled with pent-up resentment, regrets, and untold truths, these two are playing “a game of chicken” with their relationship. Thus, the War of Roses commences, and oh how these two antagonize one another. But soon the arguments come to a halt, the bad blood dissipates, the battle of wits has a cease-fire, and we see their love rediscovered through little gestures that when deciphered pack monumental meanings.
Not only a 2020 favorite read, but one of my favorite reads, ever! A slow burning rollercoaster ride of intense emotion, You Deserve Each Other is a hilarity filled romance that is raw in its authenticity, completely unforgettable, and utterly refreshing!
ARC provided by publisher. An honest depiction of how dishonesty in a relationship can be its undoing. You Deserve Each Other is a sharp and witty look at how relationships take work to succeed, and how being true to yourself and each other is at the very core of a romantic connection. Earthy, authentic, and laugh out loud funny, I read this in one sitting. A refreshing and unputdownable debut!
Hands down, the best novel I have read all year and to then find out it was a debut release of the author, Sarah Hogle, holy shit! She needs to come out with another release and ASAP! Her work is an instant re-read and I simply can’t get enough.
Now why should you read this? Well… “You Deserve Each Other” was an instant page turner and this hilarious lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers trope was everything I hoped for and more. I loved the dynamic between Nick and Naomi, and their sabotaging schemes to stop the wedding from happening. It had loud out moments, monster-in-laws, and tender moments you wouldn’t expect. What I like the most about this debut novel was the already established relationship between the characters. If you haven’t read the blurb, they’re engaged and during the course of their relationship misunderstandings and resentment pushed them apart. The fake personas they created of themselves are dropped and as the wedding wars rages on, they learn to re-love again and to grow as a couple.
Honestly, If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. This was absolutely perfect and I seriously can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for us in the future.
BEST BOOK I’VE READ SINCE MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE, THE HATING GAME!!!
Any fan of Sally Thorne or Christina Lauren will adore every word of this book.
A snarky heroine, wickedly funny banter and a cast of quirky characters make this a laugh-out-loud read.
I have issue with some minor plot points, but overall, this was a darling, Persuasion-esque, fall-back-in-love sort of tale. It was wonderful and I loved it.
Can someone tell me why this book had all the hype? Because I really don’t understand it
There isn’t a single thing remarkable besides that the cover is pretty and the hero was cute.
Everything else is a mess.To start off, I hate the heroine sm. She is an ungrateful annoying b*tch who instead of facing her problems, she kept sabotaging her fiance and for what? She claimed several times she didn’t love him and didn’t understand why she engaged him. Honestly, I never despised a heroine as much as Naomi.
As for the hero, I think he deserved better. Istg if it was me, I would have broke up with Naomi long time ago. She was the most annoying partner ever, to the point she was toxic.
And btw where is the romance? Literally nothing happens between them until 70% into the book, and btw it made no sense to me at all. These two lived together for a long time and barely talked to each other, so I have to believe out of nowhere suddenly they have chemistry? NEXT.
Anyway, It was one of the most boring books I ever read. Naomi’s inner dialogues made me want to dnf it several times, but well I tried to wait for a character development, but there wasn’t any. Personally, I wouldn’t recomend you to read this book, unless you want something to make you go to sleep earlier.
There are so much relatable aspects from this story. I love idea plot where they fall in love, hate each other, then fall in love all over again. This might be my new favorite kind of trope.
I adored both of the main characters (especially Nicholas! He’s so sweet) and I felt somewhat sad for them because they just kind of forget how to be good with each other. At first their banter and bickering is terrifying but as the story progress they started to tolerate and try to understand each other which is nice. They realize what makes them fall in love with each other in the first place.
Another thing I really like about this story is how they actually started to stand up for each other together against her friends and especially his mother. It’s hilarious.
The ending is very satisfying. It was an ending I was hoping for them right from the start. So many emotions in this book that I feel happy and sad, laugh and cried at the same time.
Overall, this is an adorable story with an addition on the humorous aspect. Very entertaining and definitely enjoyable!
You Deserve Each Other:
Naomi and Nicholas, two engaged lovebirds lying in wait for the day they finally tie the knot. Not. Naomi Westfield cannot stand her fiancé at all, but here’s the catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill.
What ensues is a battle of wills, in which Naomi and Nicholas spar against one another in multiple different kinds of tricks, ranging from whittling the leg of a chair to arguing over who cooks, and so on and so forth. For two people who don’t even sleep in the same bed, these two have an unbelievable amount of chemistry between them.
Even when they are fighting, Nicholas is kind, for the most part, and gentle with Naomi, letting her fall back in love with him without resentment, without pushing her, and without ever making her feel bad about it. I loved the way he loved her, even if at some times, I was irritated because I didn’t think Naomi reciprocated his feelings the way he deserved to. When she finally did come to that realization–that she couldn’t go on without telling him how much he meant, that was a wonderful thing to see.
This book was funny and made me chuckle more than once. Though I initially hated Nicholas, I grew to love him so so very much (if you’re not driving back eight hours just because I missed you, I simply do not want it . The standards are so very high.
I laughed out loud frequently while reading this book. Just picked it up again for a second read and am laughing again!
Sweet and spicy. By far the funniest romance novel I have read out of hundreds. I normally have to skim through boring paragraphs when reading and didn’t find myself doing that once. Very well written.
LOVE this book. A good look at what happens when you fall in love an start planning a wedding. Not bridezilla but familyzilla!
I recently read and loved Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle and was super excited to read You Deserve Each Other.
However, Nicholas and Naomi were too mean and miserable at the beginning of this story and I simply could not get myself to care if they saved their relationship.
Sarah Hogle is a talented writer and although You Deserve Each Other was not my cup of tea, I look forward to reading more from her.
This is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a while. I devoured it in one day, and it was not time wasted. The fight between these two is epic and hilarious. Nicholas stapling Naomi’s panties to the ceiling…I could die!
Truth be told, I didn’t have high expectations about this book. But I decided to read as it sounded like a fun rom-com and I’m so in the mood right now. Also, the second-chance love trope is not my usual to-go when reading rom-com. But let me tell you enjoyed this one so much!
It has a great start. It hooks you immediately. Especially because in the prologue we see how lovely and cute they are. And on the next page, they’re literally hating their guts.
In the beginning, I was a bit tired of both of them. They were so infuriating and annoying. But then, it really starts to get interesting. And we see a change or an attempt to fix their relationship.
I loved the change they both have. I loved how they became friends and fall in love with each other. It was so well-written. So smoothly. It didn’t feel forced, rushed or fake. It was perfect.
And even though I didn’t connect that much with the characters, I still loved their story.
If you like second-chance romances this definitely a MUST-READ! Or if you are in the mood for a fun and cute rom-com. You won’t regret it either.
Can’t you say this about most couples. You are right for each other, in love and no one else can understand you
