Grace Montgomery has a very simple plan. Fly to her younger brother’s wedding, stop the wedding, go home, make partner at her law firm. Almost getting arrested by air marshal Nick O’Connor? Not part of the plan. Neither was puking on him. (Don’t ask) Finding out he’s her soon-to-be brother-in-law…also a minor setback to her plan. And don’t even get her started on her untimely attraction to the … tall, dark, and dead-sexy jerk.
If Nick had a plan, it wouldn’t include getting involved with a woman as complicated as Grace. It especially wouldn’t include road tripping with her to attend a week of pre-wedding family events. But as it turns out, traveling—and sparring—with the lovely, sharp-witted Grace is the most fun Nick’s had since, well, ever. And their sexual chemistry? Off. The. Charts.
It doesn’t take long for Grace to realize there’s a lot more to her air marshal than a pretty face and a big, um, gun. If she’s not careful, she just might lose her highly prized control—not to mention her heart—to Nick. But before Grace and Nick can set foot on the road to happily ever after, they’ll have to deal with Grace’s meddling ex, a slew of dysfunctional family members, and a contaminated pumpkin bisque (long story) … and that’s all before the end of day two.
It’s gonna be a long, complicated week…

I hands down adore You Complicate Me! Right from the start I latched onto the characters of Nick and Grace! I loved how the story unfolded. Grace was absolutely terrified of flying, so, in her attempts to help her through the journey she accidentally became inebriated and that led to disastrous results. If being taken into custody by a sexy air marshal was not enough to embarrass Grace then the fact that Nick was to be her future brother-in-law was almost too much to handle.
Once Grace sobered up she figured that yes, she humiliated herself, but now she was going to show Nick that she was a serious adult and not at all like the first impression she gave him of herself. Only things did not work out so well for her because it seemed as if the humiliating moments just kept coming. Nick for his part like seeing this side of Grace, she was nothing like what he had pictured her to be when he first met her. He liked what he saw of Grace but knew that the last thing he wanted was to even consider having a “thing” with his soon to be sister-in-law (yes, I know that sounds yucky BUT you have to read the story to see that it was handled very well).
Grace felt that Nick was all sorts of fifty shades of sexy but she was not interested in a relationship at all, despite how sexy he was, as she had just come out of a divorce. Both of them armed with their reasons for not following the desire of their hearts and loins were taken for a loop when they finally reached the wedding destination, as Grace’s past showed up in the form of her ex. Something about seeing Grace’s ex set off an alpha male “mine” instinct in Nick and all bets about not pursuing what was building between them was called right off. With a passion burning between them, a wedding that they both agreed should not be happening, and family members that put the “dys” in dysfunctional, Grace and Nick will find that “complicated” may be exactly what they need.
I am such a fan of author Isabel Jordan’s writing! The scenes between the characters of Nick and Grace are wonderfully written. They are comedic but not to outlandish that it seems unrealistic. The chemistry between the characters is easily felt and Nick’s character really brings the swoon. He is an alpha male character but at the same time he almost has this boyish charm working for him. There are scenes in this book that bring on the heart palpitations as well. I also want to mention that the supporting characters are nicely fleshed out and memorable as well. I am hoping that as the series continues that they will play a part in those stories because I just can’t get enough. One thing that I wish the story would have incorporated would have been an epilogue. I want to see where things ended up but really it was just that I wanted the story to continue because it was just AH-MAZING! Give me more!! I highly recommend You Complicate Me to readers everywhere!
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Author, Isabel Jordan. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
“You Complicate Me” is this author’s first Contemporary Romance. I love her PNR series, and she doesn’t disappoint!
Isabel Jordan continues to write stories that are hilarious, lighthearted and spark the reader’s interest from start to finish. This time though, she does it venturing into the contemporary romance genre.
When Grace Montgomery decided to get over her fear of flying to stop her little brother’s wedding, she never imagined the uber sexy, testosterone oozing douche canoe sitting next to her on the plane was not only an air marshal, but also her future brother-in-law.
Nick O’Connor has had a complicated life. He doesn’t need or want complicated anymore. But when he’s forced to spend time with a witty, smart and lovely lawyer during a week of pre-wedding events with their crazy dysfunctional families, their banter and pull turn into much more.
Even when opposites attract, can they survive their families, the wedding, Grace’s ex-husband, long distance and find a way to turn complicated into happily ever after?
I fell in love with both characters as quickly as they fell for each other. Even with his doubts, fears, and initial cockiness, Nick is a magnetic leading man with lots of potential. He’s a typical alpha male, rough on the outside, kind, considerate, thoughtful on the inside and once he’s made up his mind, he’ll do just about anything to be with Grace. While she’s charming with a lively presence whose inner monologue has you laughing like a loon. She’s a smart and ambitious career woman who’s been there and done that, she doesn’t need a man but wants Nick.
Their relationship was both hot and romantic. But the most amusing parts in the story are in the interactions with the meddling, bat shit crazy family, particularly the two older ladies who aren’t afraid to speak their mind, and of course the food poisoning incident!
I was laughing, snorting, and snickering with delight throughout the story. Jordan writes a delightfully irresistible contemporary debut novel.
You Complicate Me is a standalone contemporary romance by author Isabel Jordan. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.
This is EVERYTHING I want in a rom com/light contemporary romance. It’s hilarious, has some seriously awesome witty banter, and I loved the characters. Fans of Jennifer Crusie, Vi Keeland, Kylie Scott, and Melanie Harlow will most likely love this one.
I loved Nick & Grace’s chemistry and who doesn’t love a good Rom-com?
This was a new author to me and I’m SO glad I took a chance!
The book has it all – it was funny, spicy, the banter, anger, jealousy and longing. I really liked the first time Grace meets Nick and he has to interrogate her.
Grace had just enough sass in her that made me really like her. Some stories I read the girl is so bratty that it’s hard to relate or feel compassion for her but Grace was a nice a mix. Nick was the perfect book boyfriend.
I plan to read more from this author
This is the first book I have read by this author and it definitely won’t be my last. I’ve become super choosy about reading new authors but something about this book just caught my attention. I was hooked from the very first page. Nick and Grace were hilarious. From the get go with Grace being terrified of flying and that whole scene had me in tears from laughing so hard. I must say Nick just grabbed my heart. He is super swoon worthy and had me rooting for him to win Grace’s heart. I read this book in one sitting and simply can not wait to read the next one. So glad I took a chance on a “new for me” author.
I was disappointed when this author chose to write a contemporary romance instead of a paranormal. WOW, was I happily surprised!! Nick is so ummm everything, masculine, good looking , dedicated, loving and passionate. Grace is smart, witty, beautiful, dedicated, loving and insecure. The banter between them is so well written! I laughed out loud many times. The story keeps you interested as they meet, realize they are headed to their siblings wedding.g and will be future in laws. Love blooms immediately for both of them, with several comlications along the way. It is a great story!!! I can’t wait for Gage and shadows. Who are they you ask? You must buy this book to find . It all out!! You won’t be sorry.
A fun read with relatable characters. I enjoyed it very much!
I really liked this book except the F- word. Author needs to know not everyone talks like that. The characters were great. Nick was so funny. What a sense of humor. Grace to was pretty hilarious!! Author also needs to know they were NOT going to be in laws cause his sister was marrying her brother. Grace was flying, which she is dearly afraid of, to her little brother’s wedding. She ends up on a plane that Nick is the air marshal. They realize they are going the same place. I haven’t laughed this much reading a book ever. They are hilarious together. They spend a very interesting and complicated week. A great standalone with an HEA! Great book!!
Isabel Jordan is my brand new go-to author and auto-buy. If you haven’t tried her books yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? This series and her paranormal series are just wonderful, page-turning reads. Snarky dialogue, and even snarkier inner monologues, make for fun roller coaster reads with a heaping side of steamy thrown in for good measure. Wish there were more than 5 stars to give this brilliant author.
Great Romantic read
I one-clicked this one solely because I found the cover pretty. (I do that often.)
Before this read, I was unfamiliar with this author; they have some skills and I’m not open to more of their work.
This is definitely an instalove story which lacks originality, but it’s cute, not a bad listen for while working, doing housework, etc.
3 stars.
Note:
I listened to the audiobook—great performance! The narrator has a very smooth voice, inserts appropriate emotions as called for, and perfect pronunciation. 5-star performance.
Loved this book so much I paid for series 2. The author was wonderful.
Loved it. So I read the next two. So good
I liked it but felt the lead male character was a little too hot
I loved the sarcasm of the aunt and the interaction of the characters
Amazing, I loved it!
New to me author. Interesting blurb. Me=1 click!
The blurb was correct. It is a Rom-Com and it was exactly what I needed this week. It had me laughing out loud so many times. There were some serious moments or times I wanted to grab some shoulders and shake the person, but for the most part I was laughing smiling or oooooohhhhhh!
I’m thinking I need to check out the next book: You Wrecked Me!
I read this book and laughed out loud! Immediately purchased the follow up book and laughed even more. Not much of a paranormal fan but this author is soooo good, I had to read more. One of the most entertaining books especially during the “stay at home” period we are all dealing with now. Great to relieve the stress!
