But with the city in the grips of organised crime, and struggling to deal with an influx of legal highs, who cares about just another dead drug dealer? Joe, that’s who. After all, you can’t make old friends.
Warning: this book contains adult language, sex and drug references, and violence (basically, all the good stuff).

To drawn out. Could not get into reading it
This book had a great idea for a story line and got lost somewhere…. sadly, it was too unlikely to bother with reading closely. It was profane and frankly, a let down.
Those (especially males) who enjoy dark, gritty mysteries with uber-complex characters and plots with lots of twist, turns, and violence will enjoy this book. The author also provides intimate details that bring the book’s setting vividly alive. But while I appreciated the author’s technical ability, keeping track of a cast of characters that vacillate between villain, victim, suspect, and hero roles with large doses of self-destructive behavior thrown in made me long for one nice person in the lot. The only one that came even close was a woman who tried way too hard to please the detective and he treated her like dirt. If this is the first book in a series with detective Joe Grabarz as the protagonist, for sure he has enough demons to fuel multiple books. However, I simply didn’t like him enough to care what happens to him.
Loved this book.will read more by this author.
It was different from most mysteries, lately. I would like to see the main character in more stories.
Great read on a flight recently. Almost hated to land!
I learned more about Manchester than the main character and how he became a tough guy.
Loved the detective! Tough, yet a very believable character.
