“When I get old, I hope to have friends as awesome as these. This is an absolutely feel good novel. Naturally, our intrepid characters, wattles and all, undergo all sorts of trials, but it’s the compassion and generosity they exhibit that endears the reader.” — Sam Sanders, via NetGalleyZany families, eccentric friends, and ne-er-do-well neighbors inhabit the labyrinthine lives of three women … labyrinthine lives of three women friends as they grapple with real world events in one “Golden Year.”
An unwelcome visit from local law enforcement, a younger friend’s romantic chaos, and the death of a parent combine with daily mundanities—laundry, scones, and senior sex—to create a walloping, raucous read.
Opinionated pets—critics and alter egos—offer a rich counterpoint to the human dramas affecting their lives.
Unfiltered and compelling, this entertaining sago provides readers of all ages with a new and positive view of growing older.

Good book, but sometimes hard to follow the characters.
Was fun to read about people over 50 having lives, solving crimes, and building friendships. Not everyone is petite, blonde, and 30.
I loved the title and had great expectations for the novel. The animals were my favorite characters. There were too many competing plot lines for my taste and the main story line seemed rushed in its resolution.
A light hearted funny story.
A great idea and to me, a missed opportunity. While the idea was great the book was a disappointment. It started out good, but quickly lost it’s appeal. Told my sister about it because we are both older women with dogs. She agreed with my assessment.
I thought I would really like this book but I just couldn’t get into it.
I loved the older characters. And, talking pets? You can’t beat it!
I thought the title was the best part of the book….
Started off fine, funny, but toward the end it was boring. Kind of lost it’s humor & the story lost it’s point.
Fun, easy read. Particularly relevant for senior seniors. Often laugh out loud humor based on pretty realistic situations. Somewhat graphic, but not salacious.
Crooked politics, lying, and unsubstantiated accusations, sometimes common in the society of today.
female characters were funny and entertaining.
The book was well written, but there were things in the story that I did not like. It got better as I read along.
Nothing to interest me!
Loved the premise of older women doing interesting things, but, I don’t view 60-70 years as old so it fell flat. I felt the ending didn’t fully resolve.
Laugh out loud read!
Bunch of senior ladies talking, talking and more talking
Read first chapter which was from the dogs point of view. Won’t be finishing it.
If you are looking for a book that hides a message behind some seemingly silly antics and dialogue, this is a book for you. I especially enjoyed the conversations among the pets. I wasn’t crazy about the way the book ended, but that didn’t spoil the overall read.
Not very good.
IT JUST WASN’T A BOOK FOR ME.
Loved this funny and heartwarming
