“When I get old, I hope to have friends as awesome as these. This is an absolutely feel good novel. Naturally, our intrepid characters, wattles and all, undergo all sorts of trials, but it’s the compassion and generosity they exhibit that endears the reader.” — Sam Sanders, via NetGalleyZany families, eccentric friends, and ne-er-do-well neighbors inhabit the labyrinthine lives of three women … labyrinthine lives of three women friends as they grapple with real world events in one “Golden Year.”
An unwelcome visit from local law enforcement, a younger friend’s romantic chaos, and the death of a parent combine with daily mundanities—laundry, scones, and senior sex—to create a walloping, raucous read.
Opinionated pets—critics and alter egos—offer a rich counterpoint to the human dramas affecting their lives.

I loved how Sharon started the book out – it’s irreverently funny and I thought that was the tone for the entire book. However so much more was thrown in that I am not sure if the author meant it to be a funny story, even though the title is hilarious. I have to admit I agree with other reviewers about the talking pets. I got very distracted with …
Finally! A read for us “oldsters”! It was amazing how the storyline could be so realistic and entertaining. I hope she writes more!
Fun read
Not as entertaining as I hoped. Not going to finish.
Kinda weird.
Very different than what I usually read. Funny. Good relief book.
One of key plot elements was unsolved
Very disappointing. Expected more.
I thought this would be so good. There was too many characters I just couldn’t love.
First book I did not finish. Just could not get into it. Seven chapters in and still had not grabbed my interest.
Just not my favorite
A fun read!
COULDN’T HOLD MY INTEREST.
Not as funny as expected
Was ok. The dog talk was just ehh, but story a bit whimsical
I only read half and then decided it was not for me.
It was not really what I was expecting. Way too many bad things happened to all the different characters in the book. It was entertaining though.
I like to read about women of different ages instead of the always young twenties. Just because your older doesn’t mean your life doesn’t count anymore or that you live a boring life. Older people are full of surprises
This is a fun book showing vibrant, real women ‘of a certain age. It is great to read about people who have experiences similar to my own.
Great!
