I don’t want to believe that a marriage like theirs can’t be saved. I don’t want to think about what that might mean for my own. When Felix Mays starts teaching cello to a young child actor, he thinks he’s taking on an easy side job while Jenna recovers from having their new baby. What he gets instead is Axel Dane—a spoiled, ten-year-old prima donna who won’t lift a finger without a massive … without a massive dressing room and a steady supply of organic quinoa. When Felix calls in Hollywood agent Josh Rios to help him wrangle Axel, he hopes he’ll be able to get a handle on his increasingly hectic life.
But just as Josh and Felix form an improbable friendship, things go from hectic to out of control.
Despite how excited she was to be mom to a newborn again, Jenna’s struggling emotionally and Felix is at a loss to help her. Meanwhile, Josh and Anna-Marie are dealing with infertility treatments and have marital issues of their own—and that’s before a baby rattlesnake gets loose in their house.
Felix and Josh may be unlikely friends, but as they navigate new babies, entitled child stars, missing rattlesnakes, and mental breakdowns, they have one thing in common:
They’re going to do whatever it takes to save their marriages and earn their ultimate happily ever after.
You are the Story is a direct sequel to The Girlfriend Stage and Everything We Are. We recommend you read those two first, as You are the Story continues the stories of Felix and Jenna, as well as Anna-Marie and Josh. You are the Story contains R-rated sexual content, swearing, and references to partying and drug use. It has no cliffhanger, and a happily ever after for both couples.

This is a good catchup with several characters from previous stories, namely Josh & Anna-Marie, Felix & Jenna. They are having major issues relating to being a family. There is sadness, soul searching & desperation coming into play, ending with this turning into a very inspirational journey for all. I won’t divulge any details as that would spoil the experience for the reader. However if you’ve been following this series this is quite raw & touching.

You Are the Story follows two couples: Felix and Jenna, and Josh and Anna-Marie. Their lives have changed drastically, and they must deal with the changes. Felix and Jenna have just had a baby, and that has altered the family dynamic. Jenna is having trouble coping with the demands of a new baby, and the hectic life that comes with their growing family.
Josh and Anna-Marie have struggled for two years to have a baby, and it’s been hard on their relationship. Each is internalizing their problems rather than speaking out, and the cracks are showing. While Josh and Felix form an unlikely friendship, they lean on each other when things get hard. Will these couples weather the storms, or will they succumb to the pressure?
You Are the Story isn’t just about these couples though. It’s about the power of friendship, and the worth of having a good friend to help you work through to a solution. I loved this one. I adored Felix in Everything We Are, and I’m glad his role in this core group of friends remains so strong. He’s open about his feelings, and he’s a fighter. We continue to see that strength repeatedly. I love watching him draw people into his circle, and what better person than Josh?
Walker and Patterson have this series that has such tremendous growth in the characters and you become attached to them. You find yourself invested in their lives and the stories that accompany them. You Are the Story is the perfect addition to this series. It has the right balance of humor and heartbreak and leaves you with all the feels.
After they finally get together life happens and it isn’t all chocolate and roses
You are the Story is the seventh book in The Extra series and continues Felix and Jenna’s story and also Josh and Anna-Marie. Be warned that you really should read both The Girlfriend Stage (Josh and Anna-Marie) and Everything We Are (Felix and Jenna) before reading this book, otherwise you will be missing some of both couples stories.
I really loved this book as it takes on some tough issues but in a loving and caring way with more than a few laugh out loud moments also. Both couples are facing some major changes and challenges in their lives, in opposite but similar ways. It is how they deal with these as individuals and as couples that was what intrigued me and kept me reading.
This book is really well written with a well developed story-line and of course fantastic characters that are human. The story has a lot of emotion so be prepared to visit both ends of the spectrum a number of times. There were a few things I could not connect with but I just enjoyed the story overall and would definitely recommend it to other readers.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
You are the Story is the seventh book in The Extra series and I still love it! This book tells the story of the troubles Felix and Jenna, and Anna-Marie and Josh are facing. It was really interesting for me to read about what goes on in the heads of the characters, some of which have mental health problems. I also really liked the storyline of Alex, the child star who has to learn how to play the cello. As always in this series, I had to laugh a lot while reading it, but sometimes it also made me sad for the characters. The book is an emotional rollercoaster, very interesting! I would definitely recommend it!
