After surviving a round-trip to hell, Piper figures she can survive anything. After all, she just lived through the devastating loss of her Consul apprenticeship and a torturous stint at boarding school. How much worse could it get?
Well, she wasn’t expecting a group of crazy radicals to burn her home to the ground and take her prisoner.
The Gaians, a.k.a. the crazy radicals, plan to rid … radicals, plan to rid Earth of daemons and they want Piper to help them. In exchange for her cooperation, they promise her the answer to all her problems: magic. With her own magic, she could reclaim her apprenticeship, the only future she’s ever wanted. But her magic comes at price — it could kill her.
With the life she’s always known crumbling around her and her future slipping from her grasp, she needs Ash’s help one more time. But the greatest danger of all lies within her, and no matter what she does, she may lose everything — including him.

This series have me simi hyperventilating throughout the whole story, its holding me there on the edge and I can’t stop reading reading reading.
Here’s some of the story that made me smile or grin
Piper stared at the bare wall across from her and wondered why the hell these things kept happening to her. Abducted again, less than twelve hours after arriving home. It wasn’t fair.
Quinn had informed her that Mona was insane. Piper didn’t know whether that was true but there was a good chance her mother was a few cards short of a full deck.
“Is that it?” she asked.
He glanced back, brow furrowed. “Is what it?”
“Aren’t you going to offer to wash my back in the shower? Or warm up my bed for me? Or—you know—something inappropriate?”
His eyes glinted as he grinned wickedly. “Is that an invitation?”
“No.” She raised her eyebrows. “Just wondering if you were feeling all right. It’s not normal for you to be so well-behaved.”
“Hold on a minute.” Lyre folded his arms across his chest and scowled. “How come when he tells you to take your clothes off, you’re all, ‘Sure, no problem’?”
Annette Marie is the proverbial pot of gold: an author who consistently delivers high quality well written, well edited, grammatically correct, original, entertaining stories. She invites you into her worlds and you never want to leave.
Every time I finish one of her books, my first thought is to read it again, to savor the characters, their development, and their relationships. The relationships developed in her books, both friendships and romantic, develop gradually, revealing layers and connections that strengthen over time. She creates people, not tropes.
Her plots are strong, complex, and keep you riveted. The worlds she creates are internally consistent and vividly imagined.
I realize this is a generic sort of review, but I plan to leave it for all her books. From the Red Winter series (mythic Japan); to the Steel & Stones series, including Piper and Ash, and the Lyre and Clio books; and the Guild Codex series, now including the Robin Piper demon-training: I have yet to find anything less than pure enjoyment, and great respect for her talent.
WOW!!! I was pulled in from the beginning! Fabulous fantasy world, I absolutely love this series of books, the action starts straight away, and the characters are well defined early on and blossom throughout the series, you can feel the tension building between the main characters and each book always leaves you wanting more. The sub plots plus twists and turns keep you surprised and intrigued. Be warned though once you start reading this series you won’t be able to put the books down so be prepared for some binge reading.
I almost didn’t read this book because of the torture scenes in the second book. I can’t stand torture scenes. Since Annette Marie is one of my favorite authors, after waiting a few weeks I gave the series another chance and now I’m really hooked. In Yield the Night, Piper learns more about her magic and the plot to destroy the Consulates. She faces danger from an unexpected person and is forced to start to come to grips with how she feels about Ash. Fast-paced, exciting, and unusual twists highlight this well written story. I am already reading book 4 of this series!
This series is blossoming into something epic. Every book in this series is better than the last. All of my expectations were met with this book, and then some!
What I liked
The most incredible thing about this series is how the story grows into something just so epic. The story being told is so captivating. Everything syncs up with the story so magically. I love all of the details. The way that this plot was thought out is brilliant. My hats off to Annette Marie, because, seriously…epic.
The action scenes are mind blowing! The way that Annette Marie choreographs the action scenes is truly a touch of genius.
The story is so addicting. I was glued to this book. I had to know what was going to happen next. The story is told so passionately that you can’t help but crave more.
I love that this book is not predictable. I like that there are twists that you don’t see coming.
I love the way that the characters grow in this book. Especially Piper. She is becoming stronger and more sure of herself. Her growth in this book is really endearing. She struggles with her vulnerabilities, but she comes out on top. I have been rooting for her since the first book. Her character is so likeable.
What I didn’t like
The pacing at the beginning of the book seemed a little slow, but I think that is only because I was going through Ash withdrawals. Hehe. Other than that, I had no negative thought while reading this book.
Would I Recommend It
Yes. This book, and this series, is a work of genius. I advise picking this up because it will be your new favorite series!

Review:
This series is getting better and better with each book. It also gets more depth and is very interesting. There is allot building up and going on in this book.
Piper is getting less and less naive with each book. I can see more of her strengths trying to get through and I like that.
What is this book about:
This book continues to follow the story of Ash, Piper and Lyre. We start this book with Piper being send away to a private school. Ash, Lyre and Ash’s sister are in hiding. Piper thought her live can’t get any worse at this point but she was wrong. She got kidnapped by a fanatical group called the Gians. They want all demons gone from earth. But that isn’t the biggest shock for Piper, the biggest shock is that her mother, who she thought was dead, wasn’t dead. She is part of the Gians.
The Gians want to set Piper magic free and use her as a weapon in their fight against the demons. They don’t particularly care that releasing Pipers magic is very dangerous for her, it can get her killed. Will Ash and Lyre be able to save Piper not only from the Gians but from her magic as well.
What did I like about this book:
I liked that we got to see more of the underworld. It was very interesting watching Piper learn more about her heritage and her magic.
I liked watching her and Ash have several moments.
I also like seeing more of Mysis again. I liked him in the Spell Weaver series and I still like him now. Not sure if I can trust him but he is very interesting.
This book again ends with a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.

4 1/2 I loved it Stars
