Love struck me at a young age. Bertie Cooper owned my heart from the second grade right up until the moment I ruined everything. I didn’t deserve her, not after what I did, so I lied and pushed her away. I took the coward’s way out and I broke her heart. Little did I know, I sentenced the rest of my days to an internal prison of hell. I now find myself at a crossroads with the blonde beauty … blonde beauty before me once more. And she still takes my breath away. Life just keeps on torturing me…
I’ve never believed in second chances, but I’d give anything for one with her.

This story was such an emotional roller-coaster! But the ride was definitely worth it! 🙂 Bertie and Cody’s story was painful, funny, sad, sexy as hell and simply a beautiful second chance story you don’t want to miss the chance of reading at all 😉 This was another awesome story by this amazing author 🙂
So Many Feels Right from the Start….!!!!
The relationship between Bertie and Cody = a relationship like Jules and Jessie, but leave it to the boy to screw up and think he knows how to handle it best by pushing all his good away. Bertie and Cody are brought together again due to a cosmic chain of events (Good, Bad and Crazy). I just loved Cody, Bertie and Junior, however my favorite scene stealer was Scotty.
S W O O N!!!!
Gosh I loved Cody and Bertie’s story!!!
I want to take a moment and swoon over this book cover as well…it is perfect for this story and I know I will definitely need this paperback on my shelfie!!!
Sooo Cody and Bertie were childhood sweethearts and Cody pushed her out of his life. It was sooo heartbreaking and he suffered with his decision until the day she came back into his life.
Cody was a hero but he didn’t feel like one. He definitely had the scars in and outside his body to prove his heroism. A chance encounter with Bertie years later has them staring face to face again. She has to put those feelings of hating Cody aside and do what she is best at.
Of course I can not share too much cuz you just have to read this newest release by HJ Bellus. You will definitely get all the feels for this one. I absolutely loved it and I think it is now my favorite read by Bellus!!!
5 “Lot’s of feels” Stars for Yesterday is Ours!!! Thank you for another amazing read Bellus!!!
I have been patiently waiting for another book from H.J Bellus. I am so glad that I waited. This one blew me away. So many different emotions reading this one. Gripping from beginning to very end. Exactly how I love a book to be. Cody and Bertie were meant to be happy ever after. But something happens to read that apart. Until he ends up in the hospital needing surgery. From that day forward life is not the same for these two. Amazing journey you are going on with these two. I absolutely love little Cody. She is my favorite character in this book. Just something about that little girl. But the whole story line is amazing. So many different emotions in this one. Amazing characters with amazing chemistry. H.J once again proved why I love reading her books. Highly recommend.
Phenomenal!
Once I heard that Cody was getting his own book I was beyond excited. This whole series is one that I absolutely love and can read over and over again. It’s full of angst and emotions that leave my heart broken.
Yesterday is Ours will have you hooked from the first page. It’s heartbreaking, achingly sweet and beautiful. It as all the feels just like the others in the series.
We see a new side of Cody that we didn’t get when we saw in him the previous books. The love he has for Bertie runs do deep that he is a shell of himself till he sees her again. She brings him back to life. Along with her daughter who will steal your heart.
I instantly feel for Cody girl, she’s such a sweet little girl and seeing her struggle with a learning disability is something I can relate too, since I have one myself. It was great to see how she started to learn and over come from it.
Everything about this book just amazing. It’s got everything you could ever want from a second chance love story.
5 stars. Definitely a favorite read for me
If you love second chances with an alfa, a sweet little girl and a demon dog from hates this is what you’re looking for. Bertie knew Cody would always be the love of her life. One coincidental meeting and her world is turned upside down. Cody knew Bertie was always it for him. He wont make the same mistake twice.
This book is full of laughs and heart ache. But in true fashion this brilliant author always puts your heart back together.
I
I loved the the first 2 books in this series. But I truly think Cody and Berties story is the very best!!!
I love Cody. Too me he’s like an antihero. He’s all piss and vinegar until something sweets catches his eyes. In this case that something sweet is a sweet little girl. From the moment Cody meets her all bets are off. They become instant friends. Which truth be told is a huge thing in my book.
I also love how Bertie and Cody are reunited. I wont give anything away, but it’s all Karma!!!
I also love how H J always works in some darkness in a beautiful story. Truths are revealed and some are shockers that you would never see coming
This book store at every bit and piece of my heart. Amazingly perfect! I laughed, I cried, then cried more. My God this book was everything you come to expect from a HJ Bellus book and more. The Codys are great, the dog is hilarious, Bertie was amazing as well. I fell in.love with all the main character s in this book and that says something. A perfect second chance romance read!
Yesterday Is Ours is a raw, emotional and passionate second chance romance. Cody has tortured himself for years for the lies and wrongs in his past. However, fate leads him back to his past and now it is up to him to decide whether he can turn yesterday into his forever. Cody and Bertie’s story will make your heart ache, it will have you holding your breath and it will have you wishing on a ray of sunshine for them to finally have their future. These two will own your heart and soul in a way that will be so unexpected.
I loved Cody in ‘Yesterday Was Gone’ but knew there had to be something more, something he was hiding, something that made him ‘pretend’ like he didn’t have a care in the world. There had to be a story behind the playboy personna. Well, in ‘Yesterday Is Ours’, we learn the truth. Cody is stripped bare… no more hiding as his bad choices are forced out in the open. Cody messed up and then tried to cover up. Instead of trying to make things right, he hid. Yes, he hid in plain sight, but hide he did…. until he couldn’t anymore.
Following Cody’s story is heart wrenching but uplifting at the same time. Watching Cody trying to right his wrong is sweet, all the while painful too. See, Cody owned his wrongdoing right away but refused to set things right. He chose to live with his drunken behavior that fateful night thinking he was protecting his girlfriend. Little did he know, he devastated her. Years later they meet again and for his ex, it’s certainly not love at first sight. No, she’s never forgotten the pain, the humiliation, the suffering she went through. Their journey back has problems. It’s not all a bed of roses but a journey worth following. Enjoy the ride, I sure did.
I love the way this author doesn’t sugar coat bad choices. I also love how she brings real life issues and situations to the forefront and shows how forgiveness and healing is a road trip full of cliffs and dangerous curves. I’m hoping for more books in this series. They are all stand alone books but each one builds upon the the main characters in the entire series. The next generation, those precious kids we fell in love with in these books, have their own stories. I hope to read them, especially Whit’s.
5 Stars
This story is yet another example of why I love everything HJ Bellus writes! If you want love, angst, heartbreak, laughs, sweetness and intensity then this book IS your book! Bertie and Cody have a history that evolves into a present and future that cannot be denied. The addition of a sweet little girl and a “Richard Noggin” dog and this book hits on everything you could possibly want in a romance novel!
Cara – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
Another great book in this MUST READ series. When heartbreak brings you full circle again at the perfect time. Whether you know it or not. FATE has a way of knowing and helping and pushing you in the right direction. I love the BFF’s in this series and how the love for one child is so great, that they truly didn’t miss out pretty much on the absence of another love.
I’ve been blessed with books this couple of years and I’m on cloud nine for that. I’ve read some amazing stories that stole my heart and soul and I have met, only by texts, some amazing authors that continue to spike my curiosity and make me read non stop.
HJ Bellus is one of them. Her books have me wanting to read non stop and the idea of getting a new one gives me butterflies in the stomach… I always want more… I need more.
Her writing is super intense, raw, wild, hot and with so much feelings between each chapter… Just grab her books…
Yesterday is Ours is her latest release and it’s the third book from The Yesterday Series. I need to advise you to read all books in order, because despite the fact that all books are standalones you need to know how everything began. Read Yesterday Is Gone, then That Was Yesterday and then lose yourself in this one.
This new book explores the lifes of Cody and Bertie.
Cody has been in love with Bertie since they were little kids. He’s in love with her but sometimes we just become an arse and destroy everything. Instead of telling her the truth he simply lied and hide… After he got severely injured saving Kate from a burning house he was obligated to have an hip replacement and…
Bertie saw her heart broken the moment her the love of her life left, but that didn’t put her dreams at stake. She achieved her goals and became an orthopedic surgeon.
One day at the hospital…
I’m stunned, speechless… I’m in love… I knew that this book was going to be intense but it was so much more… I loved every single word… And I’m feeling sad at the same time…
Sad because it’s over and I wanted more…
Sublime plot, very well written, super engaging and intense. It was filled with love, loyalty, spunk and so much more.
I love Bertie’s daughter, she’s a breath of joy and fresh air.
It was amazing to see the main characters bond and I can’t say more because I refuse to spoil… But one thing is for certain… This book is magnificent and you will love it dearly. I advise you to read the first two books and then this one. You’ll fall in love with them all. So so in love that I want more.
HJ Bellus you rock woman… This book is what I was waiting for and you keep giving me the stories that held not only my attention but also my heart.
Please tell me that Whitt will have her own book? Please…
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This has been a good month for me with finding new authors to read. Let’s face it, no matter how fast we can read, there is only so much time in our lives where we find ourselves with a lot of extra time. Especially those of us with children or those who work full time. Being a blogger I find myself overwhelmed sometimes with signups. And then there is the obligation to read and review in a timely manner. The truth is that sometimes I just want to read and forget blogging for awhile. Hey, reading is what started my path into the book community.
That said, this past month I’ve decided to reduce what I sign up to read, and read something that I choose. Don’t misunderstand because blogging is a great way to find new books. As this H.J. Bellus book came across my emails yesterday. After reading the blurb, I knew I wanted to read it. So instead of adding it, I #onclicked from Amazon. I’m so glad I did because I enjoyed this book so much. Now I have a new author to look forward to reading more of.
Yesterday Is Our was emotional. There were some dark and intense moments that brought up the angst factor. There was also so much love and an adorable little girl who, very often, stole the show. This is a second chance romance between two people who have know each other since second grade. A bad decision on the hero’s part tore them apart when they were in college. I’m going to be honest here, I was a bit confused about that situation and thought Cody could have handled it differently. One other small aspect that I didn’t much like about the book is the Cody, Cody…Junior scenario. To say it got a bit confusing is an understatement. There were several moments where I had to reread scenes because I wasn’t sure whose dialogue it was. Let me explain…..The hero’s name is Cody and the heroine’s daughter is named Cody. So little Cody decided big Cody should be called Junior. However, the heroine, Bertie, stilled called him Cody. See where I’m going here? It was a bit confusing. But that is really my only complaint because other than that I enjoyed the book. A lot. Since H.J. Bellus is new to me, I haven’t read the prior books in The Yesterday Series. I plan to though. For sure!
All that said, this was an angsty, slightly suspensuful, sweet story of second chance love.
This is my honest review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
Yesterday is Ours by HJ Bellus
“Second chances, 5 stars”
Cody and Birdie once had it all. They started as friends who transformed into lovers. Then like most young romances someone did something to ruin it. But Cody never got over Birdie and well she tried. Years have passed and now they find each other near one another once again. The question is will they be willing to try again or call a spade a spade and walk away?
Cody and Birdie have a tragic sort of love story with a happy ending. But I honestly wanted to yell at Bellus to give these two a break! My heart went out to both of them. They both deserved a HEA (they got it) but it wasn’t easy. Then you have Birdie’s daughter who was amazing. That girl was resilient and I loved her. I cannot wait to see if Bellus gives her a story.
If you do one click be prepared to have your heartstrings pulled, but man will it be satisfying.
Plot-5/5

Overall-5/5
I love a good second chance romance and when you add in HK Bellus and her trademark emotions then you have struck gold with this one.
I haven’t read the others in the series, I am coming late to the party but it didn’t distract my enjoyment of this one, it just made me want to go back and read them.
Bertie and Cody were childhood sweethearts until he broke her heart in college and they went their separate ways. Now they are reunited under the most unusual circumstances when Cody needs an operation after being hurt during a fire rescue and Bertie is his surgeon.
Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down, and I was very glad for a quiet Easter weekend where I could sit in the garden, enjoying the sunshine and embracing my book addiction.
This book packed the emotional punch it was heartbreaking, sweet, melt your heart, and full of second chances. It was intense and you could feel every emotion that played out.
Word of warning your heart will be literally stolen with a cute little 5 year old! I absolutely loved this little girl and Cody’s interactions with her were seriously swoon-worthy
OMG!! I loved every minute of this story. Cody and Bertie are sheer perfection! Add in little Cody and tears come out. This book had me hooked from the minute I started reading and I couldn’t put it down. Cody is such a protector of “his girls” and he loves strong and deep. It’s not your typical love story, it’s even better! So much love for this book!
5 PERFECTION STARS!! Bertie and Cody’s story is PERFECTION…. with all the feels and OMG moments we readers grow to expect from this author. I could not put this book down, it is so good. You definitely need to 1-Click this book, it is PERFECTION in its finest.
I am in love with Cody and Bertie’s story. I am a huge fan of HJ Bellus’ work, I love everything she writes and have not come across any of her books that I haven’t enjoyed, and this book is no exception. It was perfectly written, with wonderful characters, an addictive and thrilling storyline.
Some words that I could use to describe this book would be wonderful, awesome, Fantastic, breathtaking, amazing, stunning, astounding, astonishing, awe-inspiring, stupendous, staggering, extraordinary, incredible, unbelievable. I could really go on describing this book and your readers can continue to read this review or you could just go and buy the book and read how phenomenal this book is for yourself. Plus I’m being a little selfish by saying I want you to go and read it as I want HJ Bellus to continue writing stories for my enjoyment. So go ahead buy the book.
Yesterday is our is a second chance at love story. Cody thought Bertie was it for him, she was the one, his other half. But after an awful event he broke his and her hearts and has never been able to forget her. But fate had other plans for them.
Years later Cody and Bertie are back in each other’s lives. Can Bertie forgive or forget what happened and try to move forward or will she be stuck in the past? So much has changed for them both, they have grown as well as their lives. Will they give love a second chance or will Bertie’s current relationship win?
This book has it all, it dug it’s claws in too me and wouldn’t let me go, even now as I write this review it still clings to me. Honestly I not sure I’m ready to let it go just yet either.
Yesterday is Ours is a second chance love story that will have you swooning over the perfect wanna be daddy!
In HJ Bellus’ new release you’ll meet single mom, Bertie and her amazingly cute, funny little girl Cody. As a single mama and a doctor, Bertie lays everything on the line when her high school boyfriend Cody becomes her patient. Thrown together by fate, these two quickly learn how life should have been as they journey through Cody’s recovery.
While I did love the story between Bertie and Cody, what really stole my heart was Cody and Bertie’s little girl. From the moment, Cody bounced into his life, she was it -just like Bertie was all those years ago. The bond, hilarious fun and love between these two is what truly sold me on Yesterday is Ours. There is nothing like a man who loves someone else’s child as if it’s his own.
With that being said, I feel like since I didn’t know this book was a part of a series that I may have missed out a little on Cody’s back story. Local bar owner and fire fighting hero are about all I had to go on besides the little snippets Bellus provided on his and Bertie’s history. I never could quite figure out why he was torturing himself and doing these heroic things as punishment. I feel that maybe had I read the other books in the story that part would have made Cody and Bertie’s relationship even more interesting outside of the love he had for her daughter.
Yesterday is Ours was still a wonderful read. The heartwarming second chance at love kept me reading until the very end. Bellus gave me yet another wonderful escape from reality with Bertie and Cody.
