I love, love, love Amy Poehler! She is a great entertainer with an extensive filmography, but I am most familiar with her through my favorite SNL decade along with one of my absolute favorite TV shows, Parks and Recreation. She’s amazing on screen and I was so excited to hear she had written a book! Yes Please is a memoir full of humor, insightful …
I’ve been bingeing audiobooks like there’s no tomorrow, and this one was a treat! It is so great to hear Amy read her book aloud. The audiobook also features some wonderful special guests (Seth Meyers, Amy’s parents, Patrick Stewart!) as well as a chapter that’s read live, complete with audience reactions. I’m mostly familiar with Amy via SNL and …
A fun audiobook, read by the author. If you already love Amy Poehler, this will make you love her more. Great background with lots of hilarious anecdotes — and guest appearances from other narrators to enhance the listening experience. Yes please!
Amy Poehler’s point of view is relatable (even though I’m not as funny) and genuine (I’d like to be her friend) and lends itself to being read when you’re looking to smile to yourself.
I enjoyed Any Poehler’s book because it wasn’t heavy and was something fun to read. It wasn’t a “tell-all” book and I was glad to see that she didn’t say bad things about her ex Will Arnett. In fact, in the “Acknowledgments” section she stated, “Thanks to Will Arnett for our amazing boys, Archie and Abel, and for your many years of love and …
While the woman is brilliant on television, her writing tended to be very scattered and I was unable to finish tjhe book. It was just too confusing to me.
Amy, thank you for making me laugh while helping us connect with what makes us human, and flawed, and wonderful.
I found it rather boring. Not as funny as I expected. I guess you have to be a real fan to enjoy it.
Interesting enough, though the author seems to think Improv comedy is a form of entertainment. Lots of back and forth praising her friends and vice versa, notm uch content.
I listened to Yes Please on Audible. It was a great way to experience this book. Amy Poehler read it, but she also had some guests including Seth Meyer, Carol Burnett, Michael Schur, Patrick Stewart, and Kathleen Turner as well as her parents. Not only do the guests read, but they also banter with Amy. Also included in the audio version are some …
Biographies aren’t usually my thing, but this book was my happy place. I listened to it on my way to and from work, and it made me smile and laugh so many times. I may have received a few funny looks from people… totally worth it.
I don’t really know what to say other than it was a pleasure to listen to this; I would buy a physical copy for my …
Funniest book ever.
So much of this book spoke to me. (Amy Poehler speaks to me. We’re actually best friends. Someone let her know.) But anyway, here’s one of the many truth bombs that she dropped, peppered with a laugh so you don’t even feel the pain of getting hit.
“Authors pretend their stories were always shiny and perfect and just waiting to be written. The …
I did not like her method …too much skipping around
“The only thing we can depend on in life is that everything changes.”
Not finished . Can’t stay interested
I ecpected this book to be funny. It certainly doesn’t start out that way and it’s hard to get into.
I listened to this audio book. Amy herself narrated. What a fun listen! She is hilarious and she knows a lot of funny people who chime in on the read as well. So much fun!
Amy Poehler had a wild imagination even as a child. She Often engaged her friends in imaginative adventures, laying the groundwork for her strong desire to become a writer and entertainer. She worked hard and became a success relatively young, notably with her partnership with Tina Finley and SNL. She admits to having a potty mouth but keeps it …
I’m not a fan but I enjoyed the book. It gave some insight and some background on other comedy stars. It stars slow but after a couple of chapters it takes off. It seems like she wrote the book rather than having a ghostwriter. Not deep but it held my attention. Good job!
